Purple Skunk's gotta be the friendliest bunch of knowledgable folks that I've come across yet! I visited their shop recently on a short weekend trip to San Francisco, California from DC and I have been singing their praises ever since. It's a small shop with alota heart. I've since visited their website as well and they even have a section called Skater Support where they're honoring a local skater that's going through surgery & on going dialysis! Every time that I stopped through I was treated respectfully and greeted as if I was an old friend and a very valued customer. I never once felt like I was being pushed to buy & they have the perfect location for your to take boards out for a test run! I bought a board and one of their cool Purple skunk tee's which they have in men's AND women's cuts. The store was well organized...everything was easy to find & anything that wasn't, I was quickly directed to the right place to find it. I was never talked down to OR over looked when I needed assistance (and I had tons of questions-waaay toooo many questions to be perfectly honest). Over all, I just really felt like they were happy for ME to be there (NOT the other way around as you can be made to feel in some of the other shops I've been into). Purple Skunk's definately on my to-do list for my next trip to San Francisco. I'd recommend this place to EVERYONE that's appreciative of great customer service. Even their customers were friendly! Hahaha!!! Gr8 experience with this shop! Do yourself a favor & Check them out! They rock! :o)

He all, my name is Rob Schoenlein, and I am the owner of a new small company called Flat Land Boards. We make quality boards at a fairly reasonable price. We are lookin for some skate shops any where to carry our boards. We are looking at mass production within the next 3 months but we would like to get some boards out there and see what the public thinks of the boards. Thanks Rob Schoenlein Owner of Flat Land Boards

Just a shout out to Toby J. he's one of our local heroes. His is a small but cozy warehouse shop/park set-up. It upsets me that people don't support him as much but, in times of need he's always on the scene giving all that he's worth. Thanks Toby and to the locals who may read this show up on something other than a rain day and i'll quit whinin'.

I ordered a board and trucks for my son, and was very pleased with the fast turnaround time and the care taken in packaging. I do a lot of internet purchases and this one was great. The board is beautiful and I have one happy kid!
Thanks

This is the second time I've stopped into George Orton's Random X Boardshop in Westminster, CA. If you are passing through Orange County, CA you should go out of your way to look him up. George provides the best service I've ever gotten in a skateshop. I think he actually likes his customers!

I'm not 'affiliated' directly with this shop, but know both the owners, dudes I highly respect... So, I'm just letting y'all know what's new in town! Podium is not just a skate/snow board shop, it's also a Museum, featuring some very cool, rare boards and shwag from back in the day. Come check it out in Manchester, Vermont. You'll be stoked on the gear, and wowed by the old-school stuff lining the walls! Say 'Hi' to the owners too, Nick Pedemonti and Ross Powers. For me, this place is a time warp, where you can just stroll thru, gawking at all the cool toys, some of which I've been lucky enough to play on!! :-D

Marco,
All I can say is you had a bad experience for something you did, which you are not wishing to elaborate on I bet. First, I visit the Skunk all the time and I have had nothing but good experiences and vibes. If you go to the Mall, Mcdonalds,Gas station, etc. do you ask the sales rep for a discount? No, because likely they will tell you to beat it! Second, Rodney making fun of you is like the POPE stealing your girlfriend, it's not going to happen. Third, the guy behind you was probably laughing because you were making a complete jackass out of yourself demanding discounts. I do not know where your from but if I was visiting your country, city, etc I would not be demanding discounts, not only is it rude but disrespectful. I hope you have learned something here today Marco which applies everywhere,"Do Not Ask For Discounts".

PURPLE SKUNK BAD EXPERIENCE...

Ok Dan... But it's really hard not to get mad when people treat you like an idiot/stupid!!!
RODNEY should know that is the first impression that is kept by customer when they go for the first time in a store... Stores do not need the customer just once. I went there to buy many stuffs but after listening to his FUNNY JOKES I gave up buying there. I paid for the few things I had chosen and I went away as quick as I could to stop listening to his JOKES!!!
GUY, stop making fun at customer. It's really not polite. If you can't give discount say only: " It's our policy, we can't give any kind of discout." or "We don't give discounts here.", etc...

Purple Skunk bad experience...

Guys, never ask for DISCOUNT at Purple Skunk. You're going to hear some bad things from a guy called RODNEY, at least this is the name he told me he's called. I've been skating since 1978 and I have a huge quiver so I'm always needing stuffs for my boards. I'm on vacation in California I don't live in US. I'm staying in LA and drove all the way to San Francisco just to know Purple Skunk and buy some wheels and hardware I'm needing. I was going to buy lots of stuffs for my boards so I started by asking RODNEY ( he told he's the owner - but I can believe that just because the way he treated me ) for some discount and he told me sarcastically that as I was wearing new clothes I should't be asking for discount and I should be like him wear old clothes to have more money for skates parts. As he said skateboarding comes first!!! I was treated there very badly there and that's not the end. As soon as I get more time I'll end my bad experience I had at Purple Skunk... It was really disgusting there because RODNEY kept making fun at me the whole time I was at the store and there was a guy behind me I don't know who he was but kept laughing at the FUNNY JOKES RODNEY was making at me. DISGUSTING!!!
RODNEY THE FUNNIEST AND THE SMARTEST GUY IN THE PLANET!!!!
Never ask for a discount there otherwise...
