It was the first beginning skateboard class Gary and I had done for Santa Cruz Parks and Rec. We had 11 kids ages 5-9 signed up with an adult female. I found out on Friday that I had 9 more on a waiting list. Father of child number 10 called me directly at work (small town). We had a good early start at 9:00 am the weather was perfect and the local skaters were respectful and patient with us taking over sections of the park. It was great to see the kids learn to fakie in the little pool. Learning the feeling of going back and forth and teaching them balance and how by bending the knees and straightening up they could get some momentum. We even got the kids in the full pipe and big pool. They were in awe of the size and the echo inside. The smiles say it all. I want to Thanks Drew for driving all the way to SC even though he had a birthday for his niece to attend. Also Mike for helping all the other parents that gave a hand. We learned that we need more skate teachers and a bit shorter class session. We enjoyed teaching the class and will do it again! Gary and I sessioned after the class. I'm on the phone last night talking to Tiger about the fires in SoCal & all of a sudden...... BOOM! We had a 5.6 rock & roller! Tiger even heard it through the phone! I called Drew Lunsford, who lives close to the epicenter... everything was fine down his way. It was a little scarey. I couldn't help but have flashbacks of the 1989 quake when this one was happening. Thank God this one wasn't bad. Hope everyone is ok!     Rate post 285066 ! This last Sunday, at the first planned skatepark of day (Placerville), I suffered a badly dislocated finger and thee sprained fingers when a BMX bike cut me off while rolling in. Got in a strong 20 minutes of shredding coping before the trip to Emergency Room! :-)) Will be staying off a skateboard for three weeks until the tendons and cartilage have healed at least half way, then will complete the last 8 parks before end of November -- starting Saturday Nov. 10th. The tour has been a fantastic experience- I will be updating the Tour website and posting video clips when I have time. Watch for a gnarly picture of my finger and the x-rays before it was popped back in. I'm typing and HTML coding with mostly one hand, so be patient on site getting completely up to date!     Rate post 284597 ! Big Push#7 - Halloween costume theme. Starts at 2:30pm wraps up around 5:00pm with a Free BBQ and cone races. This is CBL's 7th Big Push of the year and it's gonna be FUN! Imagine 40-65 longboarders on a gradual downhill through the streets of Folsom,CA.The route continues onto the American River trail for 2 miles and ends in a large parking area/pick-up point where everyone gets shuttled back to the start....-Instead of imagining it, just come see and/or participate for yourself.
