Except that I'm 41, about 180 pounds and live in CT, my specs are about the same as yours. This year I got back into riding, though I've always occasionally hopped on my old boards through the years. I still can't believe all the skateparks that have come out of nowhere, some with good flow. Consider buying a board that's available in a stiffer-than-normal version - Insect and Comet come to mind - since the typical rider seems to be about 160 pounds as far as I can tell! I bought one of the Original Hybrid37 completes (crazy-cool trucks), have been frustrated by Bozi Vaporboards and have an Insect Big Bug being built. Man, Steve at Insect is the man, a true ambassador of good skate will. Check 'em out I think you'll like what you see and read.

Taz,if you're looking for a casual cruiser, the Barfoot suits the bill nicely. You may find it wanting of a wheel upgrade in time, depends on how fast you wanna go,really.I love the classic Rocker shape of Barfoots, and while I'm not a big fan of the trucks used(the harsher ride is an issue up north here, salt messes with tar qualiity Big Time),you'll be fine with the Torsion trucks(remember "Magnums"?,yeah those, brought up-to-date)even on a long-ish board.Again,a very Soulful Cruiser here. The TriLam is another good board, but is shorter, stiff but with flex, and will be a blast if you're willing to use pedestrians as Slalom Gates. As a 'complete',going with the ABEC 11 wheels and Randal trucks is a winning combo, just tweak the trucks with bushings to suit how turny (or not) you want them to be. That other board, while really pretty nice,is 58" LONG,um,so,you'll be getting cut-off by aggressive Taxicabs with a board that big.Might be super sweet in a Parking Garage,or cruising top the beach, but I'd go shorter/lighter personally.

Hey everyone, let me start by telling you a little bout me...I'm 43 years old, 6'0" about 250lbs, and live in Florida. Skateboarding was a major part of my life from the time I was 10 till I was 19, got married became a parent ,had to sell board to help pay bills...now I'm wanting to get a long board and get back into the sport. This is why I'm posting, theres four boards (complete setup) that I'm considering... http://store.gearguys.com/900038.html http://store.gearguys.com/900084.html http://store.gearguys.com/900044.html http://www.kcoast.com/senicatrlosk.html since here in Florida theres not much in the way of hills I'll mostly be sidewalk surfing and just carving some lines in parkinglots and such, but you can bet if i do find a decent little hill or parking garage thats rideable my ass will be there. So what are your feelings about the boards I have listed, I've been out of the sport along time and the brands and names have changed so I dont really know whats considered good boards and whats not now. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

Turner prototype...The "Eurofighter".

Sorry about the pic size before Adam, but Photobucket does sometimes cock up and spit out some big ones when it tells you it won't!
Here are the first pics of the Turner Eurofighter... 29.2" long, 8.25" wide, 18" wheelbase and designed for tight courses.
The deck in its unadulterated form is flat, but I have added a little concave using Chicken's excellent foam kit. Compared to the original "Classic" Turners, this one is a kind of inverted version, in that the top is flat and the underneath has the rolled edge. This made the board much easier to ride than they have been in the past, but due to the 1.5" of camber, it still had the rocket acceleration. Due to the shape of the underside, combined with the wheel wells, I ran my set-up lower without fear of wheel rub. I have used Grippins and Avalons with plenty of room to spare. It is currently mounted with an Indy 101 on the front and a TTC on the rear. The plan was to put a Radikal front on it, but because my van blew up and all the subsequent expenses, that will have to wait until next year!
I will have the board at Morro, so if anyone wants to try it and give some feedback...feel free.It was probably the most admired board at Antibes, where it placed 3rd on its first day of being ridden. It is still a prototype and has a (cool) matte finish, but I think they are pretty close now...
Martin.

The buzz about "Insect"

Hi Julien, To echo what Michael was saying, these boards are beautifully made and give fantastic performance! Our clients loved them, they are easy to ride and forgiving for those starting out. However, you can put some power into them and because of the camber, you get it back in spades. They outperform many so-called "Race" boards out there when pushed! Steve provides a very speedy and professional service second to none. After treating your brother, who will be eternally grateful, definetely get one for yourself!

Julien, the Insect decks dont have concave, they are horizontally laminated birch with glassfibre sheets. The new updated website www.insectskateboards.com has great info on it. Steve Hopper is great to deal with, and as his site says he can make decks with different flexes to suit lighter or heavier riders. (In the UK we ask for more flexy decks for younger riders). As a vendor/importer I am of course completely biased, but weve had Insects on test throughout the Summer in Les Deux Alpes, France for use by guests of Martin Draytons Chalet camp. They proved to be extremely popular and hard wearing. The new griptape they use is excellent as well. In case you wernt aware, Steve makes the performance series decks for Roe Racing, and we all know that racing improves the breed.

Has anyone tried the new Insect line? I was thinking about getting the 32" GS for my little brother (9 in Jan). I've heard good things about these boards but was wondering how they compare to stuff like Loaded. I really dig the shape of their 40" Pintail and the 34" Cutaway. Also, do these boards have concave? thanks

Jeff took the time to respond to a friend's email last week, so he's looking in his emailbox - told her to order from SolidSkate because he was catching up on orders. What orders? I believe mine was one of the first after he decided to start taking money without delivering, as I'm aware of at least one ordered in early June that was delivered in three week's time. Wish he'd take the time to respond to one of his many fools, even if it's just to lie.

I've been reading about Bozi and Jeff and don't get it.... maybe the guy crashed or something...it takes no time to respond to an e-mail, so "not having time" doesn't cut it in my book...being backlogged does'nt do it either....not for 6 months.I've heard in the past this guy is tops with customers... hmmmmm....
BTW: "(sp)" = "aggravation", and for those of you who wrangle with "definitely" (always misspelled by everyone)....well there it is.

Hey all, thought I would add this to the pile as my last post was lost in all the ee/cc stuff. Buy from online retailers please or buy one of the tons of other great longboards out there, they are good decks but not worth going through all this BS.
On 9/3/2004 Dan wrote in from 208.200.xxx.xxx: (United States) Hey all, That is pretty cool of you Joe I. to offer your Bozi board as a loaner to someone who is in Bozi holding pattern twilight zone. Anybody want to loan me a set of Seismic 180's until I get mine(it may be a long time like never)? I originally ordered some with a complete in March(6 months ago), I have heard nothing from jeff since May, he has responded to none of my emails. My friend K-Lee talked to him awhile back and he acted like he did not know who I was(even though if he read his email I was reminding him regularly, receipts, promises and what not). K-Lee asked him to take care of me and he said he would but i think I am getting shined as this was the beginning of last month. Everyone else out there who wants to get one of these decks, especially a complete with seismics, please go through someone like Mile High(occasionally has MB's) or Solidskate(they have new MB's in stock), it will save you lots of time and aggrivation(sp?) Thats it, later

August 11? Let me know if you receive yours. Mine was ordered on June 14th and it's still not here. And Jeff still won't return my emails and voice messages and hasn't since July 8th. He recently sent some decks over to SolidSkate, I hear. Not sure why they get decks before personal orders are shipped, presumably for the bulk dollars. This bites the big banana sideways. People love the guy, but he's shown me no courtesy since getting my money. Hopefully my board arrives and the sweet ride will supercede the hard feelings I'm kinda left with.

Curious which deck, trucks, wheels and bearings are you referring to?
I have tried most of the equipment that I have reccomened. In some cases I do pass along recommendations that I have gotten from others.
In my future posts I will try to mention whether I have used a particular product or not. But, I have never said I tried something that I have not tried.
I have asked many questions about products that I have not tried yet, in an attempt to get feedback about them.
Does that answer your question?

Silver...It is nice that you a quick with the advice but I have to wonder how many of these boards, wheels, trucks, bearings that you are talking about have you actually tried?
Since your giving out speedboard advice, are you a downhiller, or are you just basing you opinions on other peoples posts?

Kebbeks and Landyachtz are nice, too. But the Curve's are SWEET.
