SKIN helmet

Just bought a Large Skinn helmet last week and they are excellent.
They are the same style as Protec, but they have better padding with a sweat band material glued to the foam so it doesnt itch your forehead. The place I bought it from said protec actually made the helmet. Its a real comfortable helmet,and they come is red,blue, gray, white and silver. They only cost 30.00. Just by looking at the helmet and not even trying it on, you can tell its way better than protec and Flyaway. the Flyaway ones fit loose and they used to crack and cut people if they fell.
Lets all help bring back the bright colored helmets and pads. I'm so tired of seeing dark blue or black.

Pro Designed Pads

After my little elbow break I dug around for my old blue and yellow Rectors. (anyone remember those?) Couldn't find em so it was off to the shop. Looked at a bunch of pads and chose the "Pro Designed" elbows. They're big and beefy. Lots of padding and they cover more of your arm than the tiny Rector pads. The plastic caps are twice as big and the padding extends comfortably up the arm. There's a pivot point right where the elbow bends. I wear them even when I'm just going for a cruise cuz I'd rather wear pads just while I skate than wear another cast everywhere I go.
(The doctor said that skateboarders are putting his kids through college....wear your pads)

Just found this helmet at a local sporting goods shop for $35. It looks the same as the Pro-tech , but the padding in the shell is the same as that for a bicycle helmet. It's made to take impact at speed. I don't think that most skate helmets (including pro-tec) are. These Bells have a "rating" on them which I have never seen on any skate helmets. Different kind of material/construction too. Just thought you should know.

I go with Scheckey here ... they are great and if you wear them under baggy longboard surf bordies then you can't even see them. They do sweat like hell on hot days though !
Saved many a road rash though :-)

Duane,I Got me some crash pads. they go on under your shorts, (or pants)and are padded like hell. They add a size to you, so get big shorts. They saved me many a time. I havent had a hipper in over a year. Didnt pay for mine but i think 20 or 30 bucks is close. Get some, and youll never leave home without them.

I got a Dyno full face bmx helmet for bombing the hills around my college. Luckily I haven't found out well it works but it seems pretty tough and will protect my face from getting hamburgered. Motorcycle or snowboard goggles fit right in it also so your eves won't water when you get going fast. It's nice and light too.

This is a big, fat and bulky helmet that restricts head
and neck movement by about 40%. They come in a variety of
wicked colours like flouro pink and green. Although these
setbacks apply, they only cost about 10 bucks. Oh, and
make sure noone sees you with one because you will not
be able to show your face in public again.
It will protect your head, though...

I would like to get a helmet and was thinking of a pro baseball batters helmet. I havent compared the protech at all but seems like a lightweight solution and better than a bicycle helmet. Why are protechs any good anyway?

Hey what is on the gloves that you wear? What I use is just leather gloves wraped with Duct Tape (works for anything) it is pretty cool but I want something that doesn't need constant rewrapping.

I was looking at the Pro Tec helmets in a local skate shop and could'nt believe that as the helmet size increases, the padding inside the shell gets thinner. How thick should the padding be? I know that wearing a helmet is better than none at all, but I feel like I'm not getting a good deal if I buy the XL.Are all the brands this way?
