Vintage, watch that bumper-strip on the Taperflex. Be very 'detail oriented' if you've got to replace/repair that strip. I had a Taperflex that, um, unravelled it's casement back in '84; Best I could do was nose/tail coverage, seal+caulk the rest. That board probably lost a few hundred in value due to my not getting the bumper 'just right', but it was ridden (by a friend) for another 15 years before it succumbed to being RoadKill'd by a Semi truck (the skater was o.k., had 2 bail, runaway deck got smeared). IMHO, Taperflex was the best deck, up until Krptonics made the Foamcores in '78. Put Energy's and ParkRiders (or Tunnels!), and just Cruise!! ;-)

TAPERFLEX... Was a trade for a Sims deck I refurbished,
Tracker Ful trucks and Sims Pure Juice wheels... Was used
and loved :----) Brought it back to life SWEETAA... Even trade..
Both of us happy!!
Bennett Pros hanger, etc.. To go on Taperflex... Need Baseplates. Got Any?
Road Rider 4 Knock Offs.... To go on Taperflex... Other ideas?? Trucks/wheels?
Bolt Trucks... NOS, Minty, all original!!

I PAINTED EM!! and Polished EM!! Guess my hint was not well done!!
Its essentially impossible for the
OEM (original equipment manufacturer aka Energy Trucks)
to have painted inside the engraving...
The ad I personally believe was artistically created using bright
colors to catch the eye of the kids/skateboard buyers :----)
I don't believe the trucks were ever made with those colors applied.
I love that look so tried to replicate as best possible...
If you look close at your own trucks you will see there is almost
no space and room between the lettering, etc... Lots of room in the ad :--)!!
No machine in the 1970s, and no hand brush painter could go fast enough
for a production model product. Now, THATS A VINTAGE MAN opinion based
actually working on the trucks and viewing it up close and personal...
I am open to better/more experienced knowledge :----)

I have a set of energy 6", the base plates have the Energy lettering, but they are all black and do not appear to have been painted. I honestly do not remember seeing sets of them in person back in the 70's (except magazine photos and ads). the hangers were were just like the picture. Vintage Man's look like they have been painted and need to surface polished to leave the black lettering in the recessed lettering and bolt shapes.
something else I found out with my Energy Trucks was that I have always thought they were a part for part swap with ACS and Bennett, but my energy's have a tad larger diameter pivot, so you have to move the cups too.

I was crusing e-bay last night and came across a pair of never used Nash water skis. I knew that Maja made skis but not Nash. If you're a super collector check them out, they were never used and are a pair of nice inlaid wood skis.
Back in the day, guys used to buy skis like that at a garage sale, tear off all the hardware and Viola! Instant longboard.

Just curious but do your Mark Baker Megatrons have exactly the same signature on them or do they vary like mine ? Mine have the loop of the k in Baker mising on one of them.

Thanks for the input guys... I was thinking along the lines of green 65mm Kryptonics too (re-issues if I can get a hold of some) they'll bring out the colour of the wood perfectly. It had Belair Bolts on it originally but they're long gone (they really were just the grippiest things out there).
While I was cleaning up the MB Megatrons I noticed that they have mismatched baseplates, one is a tracker baseplate. I don't remember breaking the original but I must have replaced it with one from my first pair of halftracks.
Anyways once that's done I have my Malba K.beam to tidy up (it has tracker six tracks and 4 different colour Alva wheels)

Sadly about the same size a cotton reel. Powerflex are an agreeable wheel to
finish your project. My thoughts being.
They are easy to get; if you are on it!

I have a set of trucks marked CS Pro on the hanger and the baseplates say California Sun. They look exactly the same design as what i remember being Slalom Pro by California Slalom. Does anyone know if they are the same manufacturer/truck.
Nice to see there's still interest in the Baker Megatrons. I was thinking of puting them up for auction on ebay has anyone any idea what they are worth? I havn't a clue as i have never seen them for sale.

green 65mm kryptonics are my first thought,Back in the day,I had a DTS shogo, that i ran with mag extracks(with copers) and original 1st batch bones cubics they had a slightly yellower green i think,i bought a second set sometime later and they seemed softer and slower on the hard and smooth concrete of cherryhill. other good choices for a shogo woody would be z wheels, tunnel rocks,or sims snakes green(1st) then red (not conical),,,,

I am just providing thoughts and ideas to the sk8ter from France...
I am not speaking as if I rode such a deck with orignal issued wheels.
If you have better specification, please provide... :---)
Off the top of my head: 1st series Kryptonics, Road Rider Wheels and
maybe Bennett Alligators (?? on gators...
I am only striving to be semi era specific and am thinking green or
red colors for that deck... Assuming it matches the one up on
ebay currently...
Another idea is to just look at an old VAL SURF ad in a vintage
Skateboarder Magazine 1976-79 approx. Look at the wheel brands/selections
available when the Shogo Z-Woody you have was made. Per my limited Tracker
Truck research posted recently on this same Vintage Gear site, the Mid Tracker
was avaiable for retail sales late 1977....
Final idea.... There are a lot of re-issues available, if your deck is for display. There are lots of re issue wheels in wonderful colors, 1970s styling/design for sale. Probably at a much more competitive price than the $100-$250 approx value wheels I suggested..
Again, I defer to others knowledge, experience, opinions!!!!......
Although this blog is much nicer than others I ventured on recently.. IE
Pittsburgh Pirates blog.... Don't ask am a die hard fan :----)
