My immediate reaction would be to go for the 651s, but I guess it'd really depend on what you were going to use them on.

Uh.....just reread my earlier post on request for OS deck and noticed I said I used to skate 'Concrete Wave in Oxnard' Of course any true old schooler should have caught the error.....Endless Wave was in Oxnard, where I skated and Concrete Wave was in Anaheim I believe.
Any idea on any old school decks, I do not mind buying a reproduction or fake looking for somthing like the lonnie Toft 10.0

I am starting to really dislike this word... It no longer means New old stock... it means come buy my copies and I'll take your money sucker!
Stuff in a chinese warehouse since the 80's... give me a break! Bull crap! That's what I say!
Trade realations with China re-started in 1979, and ever since then the complaint has been that we buy from them (which I think is great) but that they don't buy from us (I couldn't care less)
Also, the people living in China are very poor overall. Skateboards are a luxury... not much of a market for selling very high priced american boards in ANY depressed economy.
Probably the tooling/stencils/whatever was left over from someone making knock-offs years ago, and has re-surfaced with the name NOS.
There are some wonderful copies out there... every bit as detailed as the originals. All with one MAJOR problem... their new... they haven't aged! Aging wood is a tricky thing to do without ruining your stuff. If it's supposed to be old, it better look old. If it looks new and fresh... then sorry my friend, it's NOT old.
Don't be suckers and don't fall for this NOS BS!!!
I am not trying to say that every NOS item is fake... but many of them are. Look what's happening right now with sports collectables... 95% of all of their merchandise is fake/forged! 95%!!! not just some... but almost ALL of it!
If it looks to good to be true then it probably is! Don't be fooled... be aware!
I will now step down off of my soap box... but do keep your money in your front pocket! HR

I`m sorry if my post put a downer to those who forked over big $$$ for one of these boards. Heck, there`s 4 more on eBay pushing 3 bills. Who`s to say that those currently up for auction didn`t even come from that source? As a collector myself (small time), I`m always looking for a bargin. Figgered I`d pass one along.
Oh, and 80`s decks labeled as oldschool?? PLEEEEASE!!!! I don`t see the hoopla over TH decks when there`s probably a kazillion of them out there. Show me a G & S Bowlrider NOS...now that`s TUFF!!!!
I also think the the site is legit. Take the Cubics as an example. Tooling up for knock offs makes no sense as the costs of machinery alone negates any perceived profits.
Just remember... we old farts bought those sticks to TRASH them.
Old Schoolers never die. They just get arthritis and spend more time making money than skating. Hence the stupid money being spent on "collectables" (they ain`t antiques yet).

OK, got the wheels (NOS Sims Snakes) the trucks (vintage Trackers) Now just need to come up with that board. Any ideas on OS decks, Yeah been on ebay and do not neccesarily want to spend 1K on a Lonnie Toft. Does anyone make any reproductions of old decks 77-79 like a Toft 10.0 ??
BTW I used to shred at the Concrete Wave in Oxnard, goofy looking kid in glasses who once broke Brad Bowmans board.

Thanks

SCABS. Great site how did you find it? The CAB deck is $313.78 cheaper than skatepool!! I think you just devalued a lot of collections(The Old School Index) nasdac/dow jones beware.I hope they wern't relying on them for a pension. Now if you could just find a chinese wharehose full of Turners,30x10 Alvas & ice blades(joke).

Caveat emptor on that Powell stuff. Come on... Huge Chinese wharehouse full of NOS Powell stuff? Please. Many Chinese companies specialize in exact copies of products, be they appliances, watches, etc. If there is a market, they will make the product. Do you really think a lot of Powell stuff was imported to China in the '80's? Unless it was made there in the first place...Of course, a really good copy might still be nice.

There was a time when gold was just a cool color to make things, glitzy,"valuable",my first BMX bike had mostly gold parts on it. Everything has fashion cycles,Mt bikes had 3D violet, then aquablue, red and yellow are big everywhere right now, with skaters it's just clothing, because mainsteam equipment is kind of beyond fashion, not totally but mostly,we still got shrinkwrap painted grindkings in camo, flame, flag colors, and tattoos,In twenty years people will be wondering about that.

So what was the deal with the gold/silver colored trucks back in the day. I know ACS and Gullwing each had both flavors. The gold weren't special issue were they? I've been wondering about this for quite some time. Thanks in advance Jay

Bushings for old ACS trucks

JH,go find a Madrid/Dreggs dealer, and ask for replacement bushings for SGI(sure grip international)or Madrid trucks. They're tall, and the black ones are a meduim/soft (I'd guess mid 80's durometer)bushing that allows for loose turns or can be tightened enough for moderate speeds.Another source is in the Links here at oldschoolskates.net,where older Tracker Lower(use them top+bottom) bushings can be found in various hardnesses.

5/8"x1" top bushing, 1/2"x1" bottom bushing. Top means closest to the baseplate.

Reconstructions

On 1/20/2001 Herbn

(216.107.nnn.nnn)
I have a reconstructed vintage.Several years ago, someone dropped off a clay wheeled classic,it may have been skatedad Mike, who built a curved(16ft radius) flatbottom miniramp(asked me if i had any ideas)it blends into 8ft transitions, has steel surface and is constructed modular and perfect right down to stainless steel countersunk allen bolts with aircraft locknuts holding the steel surface down,oh well a little tangent, back to the board. The deck died very quickly,a few better skaters and myself as well enjoyed tring to do many new tricks on it. I cut down a dated 8 ply "geek attack skate" that i made, and fitted the trucks.A couple months went by and the front axle snapped, the board went into retirement. My new landlord(last 5 years)has a son who's just about 5,has a scooter,so he was buttboarding around on my new shortboard,i showed him he should be standing, and he loved it,watching that is,not yet doing it himself, but he is stoked. So he spots the vintage in a storage space, and decides it's his size, and convinces me that i should fix it for him.Convincing me to fix this lttle classic is an easy thing to do.A stop at Home Depot for new "axles",4 inch long 5/16 bolts. For wheels i dug out some abandoned World Industries wheels and cut them down on my wheel cutting spindle(lathe cut),to a 42x25mm a small square profile,a very classic wheel profile, like a clay wheel molded in 100a urithane. So it's alive again,a perfect neoclassic,it was a pisser riding it around in Home depot, back to the lumber section for some nice clean maple for my next v lam.
