Brother, If that bowlrider is more desireable than my little Simms Purejuice or never-mounted (NOT NOS!!!) Warptail II, then I may need it to trade for what I really want... a late 70's 27" (NOT NOS!!!) standard kicktail fiberflex, yellow on the bottom preferably...
Those two decks are for trade... the Simms is a rider that has some wear... the G&S is seasoned and scuffed and REAL... definetly NOT NOS!!!
I also have an extra set of original un-ridden Cadillac wheels on the way... sure hope they're real. Aging in the photos looks correct. I paid WAY too much for 8 of them. If they are REAL, then I will be looking to trade 4 of them for something equally cool. If they're new-pours, then I'll be pretty miffed!
PS I know this should be in buy/sell/trade, but I got caught up in the thread! HR

Leo,that board,in good condition, has been seen on EBAY for more than $300,which means it's Actual value is about $180.A great board, worth keeping, and great for high-speed ditch/pool runs.

Yeah, yeah, yeah Dave, Snowplow! Now there I've said it... ...more like ice-breaker (anything breaker). Hard to get started 'n longer time to stop. But the ride IS asmooOOoothhhhaasmooolaassSSsaaaassSSss.
P S: I did a search on the New River Gorge Bridge. Now that looks like the ride!

Clay Wheels

Pepe, Before the introduction of urethane to skating, wheels where made from clay, metal, and even wood. And yes they slide, the grip was almost nonexistent. Clay is not durable, wore out quickly and even broke. I would imagine if you tried a big slide on these they would just bust into pieces. Amazing slides can be done riding in the rain, otherwise superhard urethane is slippery on dry roads.

Dom, been a long while since i had either 5's or 7's. But the 5's weren't all that bad of a slalom, The 7's seemed be a wast of urethane, other than on bad pavement coped w/transitions a tit better.

Two days ago, I was in a skate shop and there was a lady with her old skate (she got it in the early sixties). The board was still in good condition and the wheels too. But my point is that her wheels were in ceramic, this was the first time I saw this and I thought it would be amazing for slides. Does anybody knows if it's possible to find this kind of wheel today. And also, does anyone here ever try to ride ceramic wheels? How was the ride? I'm sure there are veterant skaters here who tried everything.

I posted a note about trying to convince climax manuf. (tracker) to do a run of old school trucks and can't find the posts here - did I violate some posting etiquette??? Was going to have thier manuf. ref this page to convince them of interest.
Please Advise Kevin Carroll

Ted Terrabonne (a photographer from Skateboarder magazine in the golden age) has a web page. I'm trying to get him to come out and shoot the next Revere and Morro bay events. There are some great vintage shots on his web page .

Duane,
I`m 1/3 there in getting my old ride back. I`m trying to get the 2nd version Bowlrider (Fibreflex) board I had in NOS cond. It had the Gullwings and 70mm green Kryptos (raised letters). I have the board, trucks, and wheels already but only the wheels are NOS.
If I may attempt to weasel those Gullwings away from you, please let me know. Cash or trades available.
PS to Attila...I`m still considering letting go the Bowlrider but I can`t seem to find the English chap to inquire about getting him selling me his NOS one...
Peace, Brady

Sims Quicksilver 50kg

Wow! My mom found my sister's Quicksilver deck sitting in her garage on the floor and asked me if it should be thrown away. ?????? Heck no mom, this is a collector's item now.
So, as we were packing up the car to leave, my sister sees this board and asks me if that's HER board. Ya, it's your board but you don't skate and it's sitting in the garage doing nothing, ok?
I knew at that point, I wouldn't be leaving with it. Of course when I go back next month, it will be there, somewhere tucked away someplace.
It's only a 50kg, so even my 150lb carcass easily bottoms out this deck. I love the aluminum finish, it would look great up on the wall next to my oldies.
