Chris, I found the former for the world skateboard championships, with your name in it as an entrant...15 years old!
At the same time i was given a huge box full of old skateboarder mags, and thrashing, and some others. I'm lead to believe this might be a goldmine!
Kludy: I really hope you sort yourself out, i guess it's all up to you to keep trying. I've got the same thing going here as I want money to race at hot heels, austria in July.
In the mean time, us locals are training hard for DHX. We really want to make an impression on all the international riders. the pressure is on as only the top 16 qualifying times make it into the second day...which means racing(and prize money). We're going to try our damndest to fill that top 16 with as many locals as possible.

This is a little of a stretch, but not entirely off topic.
Last Saturday I rode a race snowboard with hardboots (not a toe flipping round tail snowboard with softboots), and oh man, does riding fast on snow rock! I doubt that I got over 30mph, but it was still a good rush, just inches above the ground, wind over you back, bullet down the slope, plotting the next turn.
If you get a change to ride a carving/race snowboard with hard boots, jump on it!

So...when did the race get postponed? I'm sure glad IGSA has posted all that stuff on their site! (sarcasm) Jeez. It looks like I'll be celebrating my 18th B-day(on the 24th) on the race track! Well, so much for trying to plan ahead. Thanks Chris, at least someone is keeping us posted.

Rick Kludy and Gary Hardwick, The Barrett Junction race has been postponed until March 24th - 25th. A little birdy told me that you still thought it was mid February. Looks like DHX South Africa is the season opener!

I WILL RIDE THE HILL AGAIN AND WITH A DROPED BOARD. Maybe I will have shoe to brake in the turns. I will try to brake with a foot brake 1th then try the slide gloves , then try to slide tru the turn. Wish me luck. It rained today so the test will be a good one.

keep your wheels out of the patch,if its seams are bad enough to f you up,a sliderglove could probabely be slid though,round the sides of the plastic so it's less likely to catch.Work up speed slowly,sounds like you don't wanna misjudge it and slide off.Maybe footbraking is best,i've never had use footbraking so it seems like a strange concept to me,but apparently it can be quite effective.

The road is set up like this. Come out of the gate into a cool left then a small shucane set up for the 1th tight right into a left , the road gets real BAD from that point on with patches of lose rock. O.k. The right in question is real bad and on the inside a big patch half way tru the turn coming out of the turn one side is a wall or rocks, the other side is a drop off filled with big rocks . THAT TURN IS GIVING ME FITS !Back to the question at hand.

I'm partial to that Euro thing,i would probabely do a bunch of runs through the corner, each one a little faster than the last,enter wide(lft side)aim for the inside ,leaving room to put the glove down:)of course,don't make it slide but be ready.How careful/gradually faster, you go depends on a lot of things,how good is the surface?what are the consequences, where do you end up if you over slide?(how big are the cliffs:)Right turns are tougher for me (toe side) sliding out backside can be scary.Good luck.my.02

Whent out to franks hill after it had rained and I whent down alot.The 2nd turn was in a bad mood and did not want to here it . No mater how many time I ride this hill , coming up to a turn at 40mph , Iam talking {tight} hard right. Should I go for it or put my foot down, or try to do like the overseas guys do and full on slide tru the turn.I am OLD SCHOOL and I dont touch my skateboard with my hands or knee. HOW SHOULD IT BE DONE !

The races are a mile to a mile and a half. Because of the time system with all the wires , thats how far we run. The longest in the past 4years maybe 5 would be a 3 mile outlaw race in S.D. ca. Hope that helps.

The method of becoming a pro differs from one sanctioning body to the other. There are at least four ways of becoming a pro on the EDI speedboarding circuit.
1. Complete a season (3 EDI races) as an amateur.
2. Win two EDI amateur races.
3. Qualify in the top 5 overall (pros & ams) in an EDI race.
4. Be observed and designated as pro by a panel of EDI personel.
EDI sanctions some races that do not qualify riders for the Gravity Games or earn riders points in their season standings. They may however, at their discretion, choose to consider a rider's performance and decide that he or she has the skills necessary to ride as a pro. There are riders who live far from the Western US (where the majority of the races are held) and who can't make it to many (if any) of the races but who posess the necessary skills. Depending on your perspective, this is either a great rule for deserving riders, or it's a subjective rule and therefore subject to politics.
The purpose of the rules, in part, is to safeguard the professionals from having a true novice enter a pro race and wipe them out due to lack of experience. There is no remedy for getting taken out by accident in a 4 man race. Although none of these rules guarantee that this won't happen, they have worked well so far and I support them. For example, an amateur can go out in the first round of every one of his 3 races and may not have gained a lot of skill, but the experience of riding with others may have been valuable. With typically poor amateur turnouts at events, winning isn't as good an indication of talent as you might expect, but some great races have taken place. Mark Golter earned his pro status by winning at Campo and Mammoth last year. Having an excellent qualifying time doesn't say very much about how someone will share the road with others, but historically the fastest open road riders have done well in traffic. Being selected to ride as a pro may sound like "it's not WHAT you know, but WHO you know", but the rule has been adopted for some good reasons. Someone who is highly skilled can race as a pro without being forced to race as an amateur. If pros wants to race against the best, they can. If amateurs don't want to race against guys who could win in the pros, they don't have to. You can't please everyone all the time, but you do the best that you can.
There is a buzz that my own status is being questioned by some other riders. I was given the option by EDI to race as a professional at the Mammoth race last June, but I chose to ride in the ams for that race. I raced as a pro in DC (there were no amateurs), invited as a pro at the Seattle Red Bull race (where I qualified 4th) and rode again as a pro at IGSA's Barrett Junction race. I'll ride as a pro at Barrett Junction next month, as a pro at the DHX in South Africa in March, and again as a pro in St. George, Utah. Apparantly some still feel that in May, I should race as an amateur at EDI's season opener. With so few spots available to gain entrance to the Gravity Games, I can understand why some would argue that a "uniform standard" should be in place, and that everyone should have to "earn" his right to race as a pro. I fully intend to accept EDI's invitation to race as a pro in speedbording this coming season. I don't want to miss any of the four opportunities to qualify for the X-Games, whether or not some people think that I "deserve" to. If there are riders out there who can compete at a professional level, I think that they should be afforded the same opportunity. If I'm not racing the best, how do I know where I stand?

I don't mind if I win or not, I just have a blast. Most of my big talk is only bantering with my friends, who I know and ride with regularly.
I was ONLY speaking hypothetically, I only want to know what the difference is between pro. and am. I find myself a good example to use because I haven't won anything major yet!

How exactly is the difference between amateur and pro decided?
I see Chaput is doing really well and beating most guys in major races, but he is "amateur".
Help me out here, I'm just trying to understand. If I win the DHX in March, why would I race in the amateur class only due to experience, when I'm beating the best in the world?
Am I missing a fundamental point here?

Hey guys, I cant handle Mammoth anymore, besides, I got a better deal in the works. Ill be building the snowboard park at squaw valley. Im moving up there next week. My new place is about 20 miles from Truckee so you TVS guys know what that means, no cost for lodging. Ive got a pretty good idea about what part of the road the race will be on but Im not possitive, Ill check with the city when I get up there. talk at ya later.
