Clear magenta vs. pink
On 10/20/2007 Dan Gesmer / Seismic wrote in from United States  (75.71.nnn.nnn)

The caption underneath the photograph reads : "Clear urethane can be difficult to photograph; the actual wheel is less pink and more rose-colored."

"Magenta" is a very precise color specification in the printing world. In fact, it is one of the foundation colors for the widely-used "CMYK" system.

The new 75A Speed Vents are not called "clear magenta" just because we felt like using a fancy word. The urethane color is dialed in to be clear Pantone Magenta.

But call the color anything you like - the wheels look great and ride even better.

They're awesome! I'm a snob about board feel so I was pretty sceptical. I put one on for Maryhill and they are amazing! Not sticky, slows down well, and most importantly, you can feel your board. Check em out if your tired of buying new shoes for each race.

On 10/8/2007 herbn wrote in from United States  (205.188.nnn.nnn)

the place that sells the scriber has the ability to play videos, they have several surf videos to choose from but you can't see "the scriber" in action surfing is probabely a great feeling but nearly every surf video from anywhere in the world looks the same, but a video of the scriber would definitely be something different.

Scriber...What is it and who are they??
On 10/8/2007 The Hobbit wrote in from United Kingdom  (88.202.nnn.nnn)

Scriber what is it and who are they?

I read with interest all the comments on many good skate forums and what became very clear is many people where passing judgement on a skate product that they really did not understand. More than this Scriber is a true land based surf concept.

So hopefully this little piece will help clear the matter up.

If you compare prices, traditional ideas and skate thoughts you are really going to miss the point. And without any shadow of doubt it is NOT a competitor against the amazing FREEBORD concept.

Please remember that Surfing, Skating, Snowboarding and Freebording are all Brothers and Sisters belonging to a great sport and lifestyle world.

My ideal day;

Lazy lay in, big fat breakfast, hit the surf in California, skate the Cove with Skip and Jay Adams, Freeboard the Hollywood Hills, late afternoon hill bombing session at Attack of Danger Bay Vancouver, awesome BBQ hot girls and good sounds…..

Set up some cones and have a couple of hours of great slalom action…And..

Then….

Pick up my Scriber C-11, gaze down that amazing long and intimidating hill at Bear Bay Pender Harbour, smile at the Carve Stik owners looking in disbelief, then push off……..

And Bro…..surf that hill so hard you can here that tarmac scream…This is road surfing like never before..

Like all good hills that rush never lasts long enough…..BUT then and this is where the adrenalin goes balls out round every vein in your body and your brain just explodes!!

Same Scriber C-11, same hill, same onlookers, just flick a clever little switch and bomb that hill dead straight, NO speed wobble, just full on speed board……all the way……and YES from one board!

Oh ye and adjust the truck again and Carve up the walls in your local concrete skate park!

So the question of ££ or $$ or what ever you barter with;

Qty 1 good Bowl Board appx £150
Qty 1 good Speed Board £180
Qty 1 Carve Stik £159
Total £489

And a lot to CARRY,

Scriber C-11 UK Price £209

You save £280

That pays for a standby return flight with Zoom Airlines from Gatwick London too Vancouver B.C Canada so you can bomb Bear Bay and the other amazing mountain roads in Canada!!

Expensive, YES it is VERY expensive compared to a library ticket. If you really think this is expensive you obviously have no idea about product development and as so I think you should go and get that library ticket….

So who are they, Ben and his amazing band of Australian friends are called Grom Biz, APOLLO 11 hooked up with them in San Diego and where completely blown away from the start…email me to book your test flight of this amazing concept or of course you can buy one if you’ve got the balls….

If you still have an open mind about Scriber Thanxs, that’s all we ask, now book your test flight.

Aloha

The Hobbit

Wait, what...?
On 10/7/2007 joe i wrote in from United States  (67.189.nnn.nnn)

West Hollywood? Isn't that a gay area. Why would you want to take a deck with a nutsack on it into a gay area. Isn't that "asking for it"?

Have you seen the "Joe I Empty Bag Vasectomy" edition? No? How about the "Bill Tway Tea Bag" edition? They're big hits in Provincetown and Key West.

Seriously though, there's a funny story behind Full Bag, but I like the connotation that sometimes you need to simply "nut up" and go for it. It's a great example of some skaters building the decks that they thought would work, and now doing great on them.

If you don't like it, I'll send you a PVD 666 sticker to cover up the logo.

Fullbag Answers
On 10/7/2007 Mig wrote in from Canada  (70.83.nnn.nnn)

Hi Paul!

1)Yes! They are pressed in the same mold as the TS-HS-GS series. The wider tail shapes makes them feel like there's a bit more kick because of the increased depth of the concave heel-lift/kicktail.

2)Arborite/maple sandwich only (5 maple plies sandwiched between 2 Arborite plies).

3)I rode the production shapes and construction (Arborite/maple sandwich) and that's what I prefer up to now. The boards are stiff but snappy and lively.

Thanks for your questions and if you need more info, just ask.

On 10/6/2007 Paulskiiwog wrote in from United States  (65.122.nnn.nnn)

Hey Mig,
1) Do the "Red Baron" and "Junk in the Trunk" decks have the heel-lift/kicktail like some of your other slalom decks?

2) Do they come with the Carbon/wood option or just the formica/wood option?

and

3) What did your big 'ol self ride on at worlds, carbon or formica on that wood, do you have a preference?

You can email me directly or answer it here, Thanks - Paul Howard

Fresh new batch of boards in the Fullbag house! Including two new slalom shapes that where introduced last weekend at the World Slalom Championships. If these boards can take my fat ugly old ass to a 5th place overall in the Open at the World's, imagine what they could do for you!

The new Red Baron hybrid slalom:

33.5" x 9.125", Wheelbases 20" - 20.5" - 21" - 21.5"
Sexy stinger shape with a diamond tail. Slightly wider at the front toes and wider tail than the HS, half an inch longer wheelbase choice.

The new TS - "Junk in the Trunk" Edition tight slalom:

31.5" x 9", Wheelbases 18" - 18.5" - 19" - 19.5"
Slightly wider at the front toes with a full inch wider tail than the TS, thus the name and logo... ;)

The now classics TS, HS, and GS are back in stock:

31.75" x 8.875", Wheelbases 18" - 18.5" - 19" - 19.5"

33.25" x 9" x , Wheelbases 19.5" - 20" - 20.5" - 21"

35.25" x 9.125", Wheelbases 21.5" - 22" - 22.5" - 23"

And the SpeedCruzer topmount and the SpeedCarver drop-tru longboards, also back in stock.

41.5" x 10.125", wheelbase 31", concave, wheelwells.

43.25" x 10", wheelbase 34", concave, drop-tru (fits Randals, Bears, Forces, Talons)
