Just letting my brother hc know that I received the video of last year's San Fran Gravity Fest and I appreciate you. It was tough for me to watch the part where I crashed (flashing back... LOL) but I got stoked with the rest.
Maybe laters I will cowboy up and watch my crash and learn.

I don't know if you read my post on www.GravityBike.com yet but I may have a set for you. it's all black, one piece, and it's a size 46, I stand 5'9". It's pretty much o.k. except for the cut the paramedics had to make to to get to my right leg after I crashed into the hay bails at the last San Fran Gravity Fest. Oh... also the blood... nah, just jokin'
I need to get it out and look at it but if you are interested, I'll get some pics posted.
You might try logging in some time on ebay... they have some "cheap" auctions. You just need to really do a search, it takes patience. But if you love your body, it's a good investment. Also have agood full face helmet and leather gloves. What kind of shoes do you use? Have a good set up especially since those are your brakes.
Well enough lecture... sorry.
Let me know about the leathers. Since it has the "seam" cut along the side seam of the right leg, I'll cut you a fair and "cheap" deal. Maybe some duct tape???? (LOL)

I modified Randal luge hangers (busted off by someone else at Red Bull SF, free to me !) to remove the spin axle and widen them slightly. They measure 11.4" tip to tip. Strong and not too heavy. Lighter than a regular luge hanger once you take all the (now missing) bearings into account. Axle is held in by set screws on a slight flat that prevents spinning or slippage. Haven't had a chance to try it on my buttboard yet, we're all snowed and salted in, but I'll post when I do. I assume these would be "illegal", whatever. I would be interested buying a set. Now would fit a Randall hanger... which one? I am currently working on the board you gave me (the boarders around here think it's righteous!) and I will be glassing it for less flex. Can't ride it of course... still healing. No, you've got it right, your Flashbacks would stick out past the deck. The reason for 12" is that is the limit of the rules. Making the trucks narrower would be a cinch since the axles would be removable (replaceable).

How many people would be interested in a 250mm (12" axle) chrome-moly hangar with 8mm axle (non-spin) that would fit in a Randal baseplate? I could make some up if there was enough interest. If I can get rid of 20 sets, they would be race legal. If that interests you, what would you be willing to pay? I'm thinking $40 per pair...

Hey hc... I am glad that my crash will be the case for others to learn. You have good insight and appreciate the passing on of knowledge in your posting.
FL... that sound s like a great idea with the timed runs. It's just like the winter olympics with the luge and skeleton. I think this will also give the public a look they can relate.

As much as I appreciate going fast , racing is about going faster than your competition .Faster through the corners is where practice and skill level come into play .How do we get better ? How about something like a Super G ? One man on a timed course with speeds in the 15 to 45 mph area .That way we can see if our technique is improving .Just a thought...FL

I did hangliding before, was taught that post accident analysis are to be encouraged, not to be swept under the rug. (darren's book mentioned this as well)
hope this helps guys out there getting into racing.
