hey, if you're just looking to go out and have some fun then 3dm/seismic, abec 11, and manx are all great wheels. just pick a guy to buy some wheels from:

Seth . . . If we ride a manu's wheels, we HAVE a realationship with that vendor! Could someone who's not ridden either wheel speak up here with a recommendation?! Do you get my point here? I've ridden all three . . . Manx, 3dm and all it's variants, and Abec11—happen to know all the manufacturers—and can say they're all great wheels! I'd just get something around 70mm, 80a/81a duro and get riding!

hahahaha really funny, sorry Seth but the reason: "get the wheels that are winning most all of the races right now?" is really funny, because one or many guys win with abec11 it does not mean that this wheel is good for you also. My opinion try and test the equipment first and later you can say if is good or not, you can hear the opinion of other people to know a little on the equipment and after to make your test.

go with the best wheels that you can afford. Not paying rent for a week doesn't count, and trust me here in Aus. the cost of some wheels could pay 2 weeks rent. I have 2 sets of flys, 3 sets of gummies and 1 set of flashies only because I didn't pay more than 3/4 the retail price. Some were less than half price. All of them were new. Do your homework (shop around) and talk to your local skateshop, and you never know what might happen. Some second hand wheels are a good buy too (ebay).

"Seth, Why don't you just get the wheels that are winning most all of the races right now? You don't need someone's opinion. The facts speaks for themselves. 70mm is good for both Hybrid and GS." They are the professionals. Just like a Ferarri may be nice and fast, it is not reccomended for beginners. Maybe it is a bad comparison, but I have heard a lot of great things about both companies. And don't worry, I am still helping you put food on the plate because I just ordered a set of Invertz due to Stubbs amazing reccomendation

I am stuck

I am stuck between Seismic/3dm (specifically the vents) and Abec-11 wheels. For slalom I have always used 3dm wheels except for one set of manx which, well lets say I ended up using them on a cruiser because they felt less responsive/reboundful (is that a word?) than 3dm and are nearly impossible to differentiate between duros. I have never used an abec-11 wheel for any sort of racing. I have a set of no skools on an agressive longboard currently and have had one other set of no skools on a longer pool setup in the past. Now, I am not an amazing slalomite. in fact i would venture to say that I have little to no talent in this type of skating at all. HOWEVER that may change (crosses everything but balls). If i suck why get a new setup? I am getting a new setup for two reasons: its for my birthday present to myself and im moving to miami next summer and there is nothing to skate there, so cones it will be. I know I am not making 100% sense, however it is 2:20 am right now (Jerusalem standard time). Basically, what is suggested, a 3dm wheel or an abec 11 wheel for mainly gs and possibly some wider hybrid sh!t. I do not want answers from anyone having a relationship, whether it be sexual or financial, with either company answering because you are clearly biased and therefore your responses are a waste of space.

I was riding kryptonics 80mm every race this summer except för Åre sweden where i used flywheels. Then at the swedish champs in september i tried out some speedvents 75a. I felt real confident taking 180 degree corner at grip and i loved the feeling. Didnt have any issue with the speed compared to kryptonics or flywheels. In the last 90 degree corner at the hill i put the wheel in a bigger challenge, To just do a quick speedcheck slide right before entering the corner. i was worried it would be to much vibration and hard to slide but NO NO.
I have looked around for a homepage or any contact details of the seismic wheels but i havent found any. Anyone knows where i could find it?
Thanks.

I suggest either Rainskates 65mm/85a (orange) Tsunamis or ABEC-11 (take your pick on diameter and durometer) Strikers. '70s Flashbacks will work, too. As someone alrady posted, you may want to round those edges, first. Great wheel, though. Good luck and have fun! Ditches are a BLAST!

I got some extra wide retro zigzags from Chris for the Encinitas TS race. The inner lip is extended significantly, still squared, but very flexible. The extra inner lip makes the wheels nearly center-set. The grip is insane. Extra wide retros! The wheels he made for me are 66mm tall, 56mm wide and 80/83a. I'll be getting some of the 70mm retros extra wide as well. If you are a slalom racer you can contact Chris and he will make you some.

hairpins? what is that??? i only how to go strait. like all americans.
luis, the 'vents acually slide fairly well given the fact they have a big flexible lip. the hardest hairpins i've used them at in a race situation was at maryhill, my first time really using them, and I was impressed. they dont slide like a krypto, but i think they slide better than a gumball.
ps. hey siegrist, check your email.

After the 1st test ie the 1st bash of wheels the speed vents got dailed in and are as fast if not faster than any race wheel on the market. Dan is commited to the speed vents and fixed them.To get something right you have to put it out there to start with. I tested them and the combos that you can run are like nothing else on the market. I am not having great days as of late but did feel the need to share and if I was to race again it would be on the speed vents!
