Banked slalom
On 5/1/2002 Clingfilm wrote in from (194.154.nnn.nnn)

I used to ride ramps and take part in banked slalom.
In deed most British Skaters, I think with the exception of Sweeny used to do the same, some better than others. Slalomers here were very dextrous in their abilties.

I hope this helps, although I am not sure I can make it to Brasil, althoughI was there 15-20 years ago. Let us know dates and events etc.

Ther boardX may be of interest to you, contact Lee at Urban Boards

TV coverage
On 5/1/2002 Clingfilm wrote in from (194.154.nnn.nnn)

Many have said that they have contact with some sports channels. If you know any lets try to get them at Brands Hatch. Meridian, the local station to Brands is near me so I can give them a try but that will only be for the local news.

Aviemore is on C4 for 1 hour I think.

I can deal with local radio but I do not have any contacts with TV. The more media the better we can arrange cash sponsors.

I checked out that swiss slalom site and it seems like they have a good thing going. Contests running since 2000, 2001, and on this June with 31 contestents in 2000.

So good thing I had my passport renewed.

Anyone know of a good place to stay while over there- which airport to fly into etc??

if something is sorted in newquay i'll come up.

however, if folk want to come down this far (30 mins from newquay)i'm happy to find a location (advise on campsites etc). just need to know what is ideal (legnth, width, slope etc) as i've never set foot on a sl board let alone slid through cones.

Bude
On 4/30/2002 Clingfilm wrote in from (195.195.nnn.nnn)

We could hold an outlaw event, unofficial. But we need a confirmed location. It seems that there are many who woul;d be up for it as the area is great. It I can have a location or two to cirfirm that will we hold a no entrance fee, no prize event, as a GRS event, then I would go.
Who's up for it?

Sorry to hear about Sheffield but laterin the year sounds good also, maybe this time we can have slalom in the day and longboard at night.

All we need it locations

Hi all,

we could always go to the downhill race and then the next day or later that day we could head down to Newquay and use the car park to the Zoo. We have sk8ed there before and its smooth and clear. Could be a good one

let me know what you think

bude non event
On 4/30/2002 gavin wrote in from (195.194.nnn.nnn)

shame about the bude event, you'd think with the growth/interest in sl... but i won't go on.

lee, i'm down in west cornwall (penzance) so don't know about suitable areas for sl in bude or newquay. around here though are some potential spots.

in penzance there's an industrial estate that could be used on a sunday for a flat event (also the promenade would be good but may be get complaints from people), in hayle another ind estate but on a hillside (not sure about run offs) and up on the moors behind pz are some long quiet roads where you may get away with a single course one evening (light til' nearly 10pm midsummer).

anyway, i'm happy to source a spot if anyones interested in combining a weekend of surf and skate.

I think Fast Fred has become confused but I think it is in translation of numbers, doesn't £1 equal 6 euros? If not it probably will soon and then Freds maths starts to work.
