I have check Paauls site over the use of the track, and I hope that there is an error there, as it does look like the track is double booked.
Lee can you ease our concerns here, or do we need another date. Last weekends event would have been perfect, so another date like that would do.

Gutted i missed HP on sunday, doing the family thing...again.

Chris, I'll be bringing my sprog to brands.

Just out of interest, the Race of Champions at brands on the same weekend as the Slalom event, is billed as using the full circuit, not just the indy circuit. I hope they haven't double booked it!!

that hill sounds sketchy, will the wall be hay bailed by any chance? at the least it sounds like a place we could all meet up and have a skate...i went on the organisers site and saw "kendo rollerblading" eeeek...and i am definitely going to the roller disco with my spandex shorts and miami flouro pink crop top (with optional beer gut)...
how did young mat from lush get on at the skatercross thing..has anybody heard.

Eastbourne Confirmed
On 5/19/2002 Clingfilm wrote in from (194.154.nnn.nnn)

Eastbourne

I went to Eastbourne today to investigate sites for the Skate2002 event.
The slalom is in a great location and we should be able to race 6ft head to head with four or five pushes in. The surface is tarmac with stones but is grippy and rides smoother than it looks. The day is to be confirmed yet but it will probably be Sunday 28th July.
Down downhill is for men only. A virgin hill, no skateboarder has ever made it from the top. It is not very long but will have a massive acceleration. One of the organisers said he was clocked at 70mph on blades. I recon 50 - 60mph. It is too narrow to run head to head, unless you want to, but you could see who has the fastest speed at the bottom. Some, myself included may not start from the top. The hill runs off onto the prom. There is a corner which will have to be taken on an exact line, or you hit a wall. Cool hard core stuff. I hope to have it closed for at least two hours and I aim for Saturday 27th but it may be the Sunday; I'll keep you posted.

Tv and press should cover some of this, get the sport in front of 20 thousand people.
They will allow demos of what you can do, Lush, Urban should tout their stuff here, and we can have an advice stand. To sell may cost £250 each but you should get together to get one, you all sell different stuff and the info stand can refer interested parties to you.
We have space for banners etc
Think about it.

Looks like the weather MIGHT hold out. Hyde Park it'll be then, possibly others at CP. Its NEVER just a slalom thing,
longboards, shortboards, spectators and begginers are always welcome. If you bring kids please bring bubble blowers and foot pump rockets....for me, not the kids.

Brands Hatch Kids
On 5/18/2002 Clingfilm wrote in from (194.154.nnn.nnn)

Anyone planning on bringing kids to Brands. It will be a great place for them. I took mine to the car event today. Sorry, but I got carried away and forgot to shoot any pictures of the track for the slalom.
I will have my two, 6 and 4, who will cone marshall and help out. If we have enough lets have a kids event. If we have enough they will amuse themselves and have a great times.

Unable to get to Hyde park!!! Is there gonna be anyone going to Crystal Palace on Sunday for a session or is everyone going to be at hyde park? Is it only a slalom thing going on there? and is there enough room just to carve and cruise with the long boards?

Dogtown and Z-boys
On 5/17/2002 mog wrote in from (194.112.nnn.nnn)

Start practicing you berts cos the Dogtown movie will be with us soon.
Just heard from my inside source at the Ritzy cinema, Brixton that "Dogtown and Z-boys" will open on Friday 14th of June.
So if any one is up for a matinee viewing on Sunday 16th followed by a slalom session/skatepark jam/beer book your tickets soon. Last time the movie showed here the tickets sold out weeks before the show. To book tickets call the Ritzy on 020 7733 2229 (but don't hassle 'em today cos tickets won't be available till tommorrow).
So come one and all and bring the family (warning movie contains "brief" language)
hope to see you there
Mog
