CP on sunday
On 2/8/2002 chris @ lush wrote in from (195.92.nnn.nnn)

now here's a thing. It's been kinda wet up here for a few weeks, but also really windy, so the roads dry out really fast....
you know those massive fans they start to blow up hot air balloons with... I'm sure you could blow dry a narrow section of tarmac to skate.

I'll see what hank can knock together this weekend. old generator, industrial extractor fan, a few gears...

Dave T - the yellow cutaway is looking VERY shiny here ;)

Should be quite a few people going to palace on Sunday. If it stays dry.
If not does anyone own a really big umbrella?
Or a guerrilla attack on the Millenium Dome.

7O's parks in Dorset
On 2/8/2002 Dave T wrote in from (212.219.nnn.nnn)

Cheers Gavin, will be down there soon, have family there. A cousin mentioned the ensbury park one and possibly one more so looking promising, possibility of a new one sounds interesting, nothing too extreme for me any more, nice and mellow..... now all I've got to do is get a new park board.

snowboard hire
On 2/8/2002 BoardFest wrote in from (195.92.nnn.nnn)

you can, we are currently looking at a way of getting round their reluctance to hire out kit to people who have not joined their "XSsive" club (basically it's to make sure any rookie can't just turn up and get in everyone's way) . If you have your own kit then you can just turn up and ride.

I can get 1997/98/99 santa cruz boards at about £80 if anybody wants one! also dirt cheap boots and bindings.

sweet old concrete
On 2/8/2002 gavin wrote in from (194.82.nnn.nnn)

dave, i'd heard that there was an old park with a snakerun in or near bournemouth (ensbury park (slades farm) ?)but i don't know for sure. i'd also heard that there was to be a new concrete park in that area as well.

there's some info at www.knowhere.co.uk

alternatively southsea skatepark is only an hour (max) from bournemouth and well worth the drive.

Hi Nick,

we dont mind how old or young you are. There will be riders of around 40 years old but also we have a team rider as young as 8 years old.

Entry will be deciced soon but it shouldnt cost total anymore than £10.

So no excuses nick you've gotta race.

RE: The Rom
On 2/7/2002 lee wrote in from (217.158.nnn.nnn)

Hi all,

would you all be up for a slalom race mid march at the rom skatepark, essex.

It used to be used for races back in the 70's and is a sweet concrete park probably the best in the UK. It has a nice steep hill on which to do the racing.

I have already put things in place but waiting for some one to get back from holiday to confirm. Let me know if the 16th of march is good for everyone and if so i will start going ahead with it.

Also we hope to have the first brands hatch race/event in april again probably midway through the month.

Let me know if you can make the 16th.

Hi Chris,

we will be there i think we will have around 7 Urbanboards riders but maybe more. Have you sent it all around?

If you ask Michael from Turner he has a load of names that we got when we hooked up in Crystal palace he should email them. Also it would be good idea to put it through yahoo aswell.

If anyone is coming up from london let us know there might be some space in our cars.

Sheffield Boardfest 2002
On 2/5/2002 BoardFest wrote in from (195.92.nnn.nnn)

Times now finalised :
Formal comp starts at 7pm on the 23rd (saturday), but feel free to turn up way earlier for practice! We'll be there from about 4pm.

Standard skatepark entrance fees apply (£2 for 1st hour, £1 per hour from then on, or thereabouts...) plus £5 entry fee for the comp/ timed training.

Prizes to be supplied by:
Turner Downhill
Urbanboards, London
Lush Longboards, Sheffield
plus many more mystery prize donors...

Sunday's activities will be weather dependent, so bring your longboards, shortboards and snowboards! The House Skatepark will be open as usual on Sunday, and we may run a more casual slalom there if it's wet outside.

Don't forget we will be 5 mins walk from the best dry ski slope in the country; snowflex half pipe, jumps and dryslope funpark!

Wet
On 2/4/2002 Paul K wrote in from (195.110.nnn.nnn)

Another dreary Day in London rolls by, with no possibility of getting some skating in............

Somebody mentioned about underground or covered Car Parks

Bluwater in Kent has massive Carparks, smoothish concrete finish instead of Tarmac, so could be quite dusty, only trouble is all the shoppers!!

I'll check it out properly next time i'm there

wet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
On 2/4/2002 ross wrote in from (128.243.nnn.nnn)

I have a set of avon Boosters, which i have been riding for a few months now. They definately do have more grip than route70's, i feel a lot more confident riding wet roads.

However as general longboard wheels go, they are a bit toss apart from looking the nuts. They are a lot slower, and when you slide them on dry roads, they chatter because there is no core to keep them stiff

hope this helps...

Monsieur Attia
On 2/4/2002 Smokestack wrote in from (217.35.nnn.nnn)

Thanks for the kind words Jean-Michel, but I am hardly the 'king of tight slalom'. I would reserve that honour to Martin Sweeney and Clingfilm, et al. Jani could also rip tight I seem to remember.

I remember the sequence and the 'Who's Hot' I had in Transworld. I'll send you a scan if I find them.

Say hello to Jani for me when you see him. Now, there's a fast guy!

MY SLALOM WEEK
On 2/4/2002 Jean-Michel ATTIA wrote in from (80.13.nnn.nnn)

To Michael "french poetic lover" Stride: quel style !

Ok, Simon, not too hard to translate ?!!

Well, i'm ready for a great slalom week, with:
- a meeting with the great Dieter FLEISCHER in Bordeaux
(5 february)
- a meeting with the great Jani SODERHALL in Marseille (6
february)
- the "Agincourt Revenge Session" with the great Knight
Clingfilm in Cannes (8 february); le pari tient
toujours, Michael !

Let's check th forum for regular informations about all these event...and have a good slalom week too !
