On 10/16/2003 Arab wrote in from (24.24.nnn.nnn)

Joe-BERTS RULE! I still skate like I did 20+ years ago, I havent learned a new trick in over 20 yrs, I'm content to Grind and Carve throw down a bert and some slides. I invented a trick many years ago, It was something I did for as Long as I could rememeber, O the og photographer for Transworld, was all flabergasted one day when he was shoooting some photos for the mag, he was like dude what is that trick!, I'm like, I dont know I have been doing it for years?????, He named it an "Arabian Twist", I did 2 versions of it, one I grinded, the other I locked up, it was basically a rock walk grind or lock up, Gonz seen me do it and asked if he could do it at the Vision Skate escape contest, I was like, whatever?

I'm not really a trick skater though, its all about the Drop, the Bottom turn the off the lip and the cutback. same as it was since day one!

Whens the next Bear!

Hmmm... no brewery, but a new neigborhood, yes
On 10/13/2003 Mark Jeangerard wrote in from (64.42.nnn.nnn)

Coors is a road that runs parallel to Unser. No brewery that I'm aware of. (On a side note: I lived in Littleton, CO one year and talked to more than a few residents of Golden, CO, home of the Coors brewery. They all agreed, "the water" in Golden is not fit for human consumption.)

Black Arroyo Rd. is not the steepest hill in that new neighborhood. At this time it is the northern most road, with McMahon being southern. McMahon is a pretty good skate. Not actually steep but smooth as a baby's butt and straight with few cross roads and long, long run out. With an average speed of 30-35, it's pretty good for drafting practice.

The steepest hill in there is between McMahon and Black A. and would be good for 45 but that it ends in a "T" right about the steepest part.

I was riding the not as steep one because I was trying some new stuff I was unsure of.

... uh.... Ditches rule.

Standing on the street at Unser and Bridge, facing east, the tranny on the ditch looks very much smooth, indeed. But with a level of moisture that I was uncomfortable with entering, well... I'll have to wait. The ditch goes 3 blocks or so, towards Coors. The sidewalk that you just can't see on the right side of the photo comes down off Unser at a lot steeper angle than is apparent here. It looks wicked good. Anyone planning an expedition, please email me or drop a line here, I'll be there.

Black Arroyo
On 10/10/2003 Tony wrote in from (64.234.nnn.nnn)

I skated it a few weeks ago. The transition is not as smooth as 528 but more like the Bear, it is as big as La Cueva. Its fast and deep. It was totally dry when I skated it. I will get more pictures this weekend and submit them to Kaylees site and Ditchrider United.

I just received directions to an abandon drainage facility (read: PIPE definitely & hopefully ditch). The guy who told me about it hadn't been there in a while so there's no clue on the state of repair. If any of y'all Wes' Ginny or Eastern Ohio folks are up for a safari, drop an email. I'll be checking it out soon.

Later,

Gravity
On 10/9/2003 K-LEE wrote in from (129.24.nnn.nnn)

Since skateboarding would not exist without gravity, I suggest you all do the following assignment and turn it in to me by next Wednesday. I guarantee you'll have a better understanding of skating in a inverse square law field and you'll be able to sketch the gravitational potential profile of a ditch on a hill.

Good luck.
