Mick,
What ditch is in the Slalom Ditch Photo? It is not comming up on my browser.
Also in the other post, who is doing that speedy slide & where? It looks too big to be the Woodbridge Ditch, not the right shape for the Riverdale Ditch, and the wrong trees for Arbutus?

Arbutus or Any Ditch For That Matter

Arbutus has never been a bust but it is up to us to keep it that way. This goes for all skate spots. Every time we skate a spot, we should try to leave the place cleaner than when we got there that day.
For example, Arbutus is hidden by a parking lot of an industrial park. Each time I pull up to the ditch, I look for any trash to pick up. I've even swept up broken glass. The less crap a cop has to look at the more likely he will not park and get out of his car to look down into the ditch.
We might even want to start parking a bit back from the end of the parking lot that the ditch is on. After all, there will be no way to stop the local kids or homeless from getting drunk and trashing up the ditch and parking lot but it is up to us skateboarders to clean it up in order to protect our skate spot.

Spoke to Barleye this past weekend and he says Revere is completely locked up these days, not even soccer or basketball allowed in there right now.

Hell Yea Scumbag, keep the spirit alive at Arbutus. I've got alot of skate truck metal left on the edges of that ditch going back as far as 20+ years.

Hell Yeah, to who ever cleaned up the arbutus ditch...Last nite was the first time in a long time i didnt have to sweep it out...and someone set up some new roll-ins too. thanks! I keep on planning to bring concrete there to fix up some spots, but my lazy ass would rather skate it then work on it.

I can back up the post about Alberquerque being great for ditches. They seem to be everywhere. I visited some relatives who live there (im from the UK where we have no ditches) And i was Blown away!. 4-5meter walls, with transitions to the flat, and 400m long (by the primary school near June drive on the east side. I may be visiting those relatives again.

I wouldn't use that last repave of Revere as a standard for building the best banks. The north wall had a nice transistion but the west and east walls were a bit harsh. While the pavement was jacked, the transitions were better and the banks weren't as steep before the remodel. Most construction in LA county that has to transition from one elevation to another has a slope of 2:1. 1.5:1 is also used but in less cases. Most of the school banks at Revere, Kenter, Muir, Miller, Jefferson, Brentwood, Bellagio, etc. were probably 2:1. The main thing is to make a nice rounded tranny at the bottom.
BTW. Revere's north wall is about 6'6" the East wall is probably 8' tall.
