Columbus, Ohio ditch
On 10/28/2002 Longskater wrote in from (204.210.nnn.nnn)

If there's anyone out there in Columbus(upper Arlington), Ohio, you should check out the "Blood Bowl". It's a sweet drainage ditch with varing transition legths and heights. The "Blood Bowl" is on the corner of Riverside Drive(Route 33) and Lane Road. Its pretty fun to skate a session down there, and its also got a parking curb for coping.

I am trying to locate the memorial ditch, I saw pictures and that little hip looks really fun. I also heard about a ditch in Towson. If anyone could help me out with directions it would be greatly appreciated. Email me if it's top secret, I have some really good ditch spots to trade. thanks in advance!

Houston (Clear Lake City) Ditch
On 10/27/2002 lbk wrote in from (209.244.nnn.nnn)

From about 1976 to 1978 I was skating a ditch in what was then Clear Lake City, TX (an unincorporated town annexed years later by Houston). We called the ditch “The Bowl”. Does anybody know the ditch I am talking about? It was big and shaped like a half bowl at the end of a big spillway. Does that ditch still exist? At the least, I would like to see some photos of it for my memories.

Hey Mick, that's intense man. Check this out.

Kinda funny how we're wearing the same type of gloves. And how it looks like we're skating at the same ditch. Anyhow, cheerio.

Ditches
On 10/25/2002 Longboard Ric wrote in from (161.97.nnn.nnn)

I went to Houston Texas a few weeks ago, and skated the EZ 7 ditch. It was the funnest ditch I've ever skated (I spent a weekend in Albuquerque recently, too) It was painted smooth, lined with curbs and had plywood rool-ins layed out on the grass. I felt like it was 1983 again. Pure fun.
Go there, skate it, slap the curbs and love skateboarding.

Lancaster Pipe
On 10/19/2002 lbk wrote in from (208.29.nnn.nnn)

Chris, I completely agree that Lancaster's full pipe is far from perfect. Maybe a generation or so of skateboarders to come will think that Lancaster is fun to skate. That will be because any skater that knew what Lancaster was supposed to be will be long gone and the new skateboarders will find the kinked up odd park a challenge. Well, they will still have roller blade problems though. Damn gnats.

nice full pipe?
On 10/18/2002 chris wrote in from (63.242.nnn.nnn)

sorry mick but to call Lancaster a nice pipe is a stretch.Last I knew it was bumpy through the bottom and bubbled out right where the concrete meets the steeltop.I live within thirty minutes but havn't been there in two months so maybe it has changed. If you want a full pipe don't f#@! around just go to Louisville.

Nice Full Pipes
On 10/16/2002 lbk wrote in from (63.208.nnn.nnn)

I know of some half finished full pipes in Alexandria, VA but they would require some midnight finishing.

Lancaster, PA Skatepark has a full pipe. Too bad that is the only thing good about the park. Lancaster Park is the worst example of how a concrete company with no clue can screw up a park. Like I said before, if I where a skateboarder in Lancaster, PA and I was involved in getting that park built, I would have moved out of the town in total disgust.

Da Pimp

I can say outlaw bank slalom, I'd rather say outlaw banked surf style contest....but I won't say either regarding the pimp daddy. I'm not going to publish directions to an underground skate spot on the web. This place is too new, too exposed, and potentially too prone to getting shut down too easily. I've recently seen too much disrespect for skate spots by skaters. Not just kids but old guys who should know better. Right now I'm only inviting people who I know will leave the spot cleaner than when we got there, will keep the place quiet, and will leave the beer bottles, stickers and spray paint at home.

I share pictures to let people know the spots are there if you put in the time and look hard and to motivate Ed Economy to get out of the house and join me.

Dead Man's Ditch
On 10/16/2002 lbk wrote in from (63.208.nnn.nnn)

Mick,

I can round up some help to clean out Dead Man's. Over the years, we have cleaned up many a ditch to make it skateable. Drop me an e-mail with directions to Dead Man's. We even have the cones and a timer to set up a banked slalom course.

As for the Woodbridge Ditch, it is in Virginia near the Vans Park but is not worth the trip from MD. It is better to hang at the Vans Park. The park's back corner banks are fun to cruise on a long board.

Now the Arbutus Ditch is worth the drive. It is a bit gnarly these days but it has been skated for about 25 years. The place is right off the 695 on ramp near Baltimore and lighted by the highway (24 hour skate spot). Do a search on ncdsa for "Arbutus" and you will find the directions I posted not too long ago.

Have you skated the Riverdale Ditch? It requires softer wheels but is a fun funky small ditch to skate. The ditch is on the edge of a county park so it has been cool to skate there for long time.

DR

BTW, I still got to get that MD Longboard Video.
