I'm sure most of you in California have skated the I-5 ditch. It's on the Eastern side of the highway about 30 minutes north of Grapevine. It's rough but fun so use soft wheels.

Proper ettiquite is good in any situation. Submit 'em to the curator of the upcoming DL Ditch Directory. Submit 'em right here to the NCDSA "bank and ditch" section. School 'em.

universal codes

Anyone with a browser and a search engine can find ditches, secret or not, if they're determined enough. This is the Information Age right? A bit different than being a skater in the 70's or 80's. So what would really help things, IMO, is if the rules of skate 'ettiquete' were discussed more often. I've found skaters who we might think of as having 'attitude' or being 'rude' are often just ignorant. These things aren't explained to them or passed on. How does a newbie or grom learn that dropping in on someone isn't cool ( other than purposelly knocking them down which, as an adult, I wouldn't do ) or that messing up a skate spot is a good way to get ostrasized by other skaters?
If you do the index, maybe including some of these unwritten codes some of us might take for granted??
Just an idea...

Secrecy is a good thing to keep spots from becoming a bust, but a discreet website that links like-minded skaters together is something that cannot and should not be discounted. This global village we live in has endless possibilities.

in the 'olde dayes', naming a spot could get your ass kicked. so, just what IS the current etiquette? it seems that the majority of us are pretty cool people, but there is always a barney somewhere, and the last thing that i want is to expose a good bank or ditch to the flippy kick squids.

Now I've heard that this ditch is real. Though the spelling is incorrect. Have you skated it yet?? If so hows it look? I work in San Ho and have been courious of this spot. Hook me up!! E-mail me if your hesitant of posting it. If you want to, otherwise I'll just have to go scouting my self. Oh yea. Have you checked out the banks off Camden (sp?) Ave.? Down by the ponds parallel to Hy 17. One side banked with a fence next to it narrow sidewalk its OK.... Kinda sketchy, good pavement. Do a search here and you will find an old post.
Thanks, ICE

If any of you ditch riders are planning on coming to the Sandia Banked Slalom event, we'll ride, race and rip all the ditch you can stand. Check out the Contest Calendar for May 17th. Wax is for surfers, Copers were cooler.

well..... i think that i may have found the "yuvis dam" banks.the thing is, the spot i may have found is phonetically similar, but has a different spelling. but i'm not sure if it was an INTENTIONAL typo and if so, i am leery of giving away a "secret spot". am i getting warmer here?

KINGS IS A LIE!!!! It is 9:19 on Tuesday night, McKibbin and myself just got back from the ditch. IT IS FINE!!!! THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH KINGS!!!! I had to see it with my own eyes, so McKibbin and I hopped in the car and headed over to KINGS. Nothing has changed there. Nothing has been jackhammered. THANK GOD! Now as for VERB, or NOUN, whatever you call yourself, I really hope that NOUN and KNOWN sound similar by pure coincidence because that hurts if you are trying to get us in trouble. More importantly, it hurts far more that you would lie to and crush so many people by saying one of the most fun spots to skate in PA was destroyed. I wanted to let everyone know the GREAT NEWS! AGAIN, KINGS IS ABSOLUTELY FINE TO SKATE!!! NOTHING WAS JACKHAMMERED!!! =peace=love=unity= -MATCH- KNOWN east.coast.longboarding

I can not believe that some kid who was getting a buzz off of disagreeing with some cop ruined Kings Ditch for all of us! I haven’t been there in a while, but that place keeps me alive when I am at school. And rails at a ditch? I guess, but the more I skate ditches the more I like those crunchy biting grinds. I grew up on short boards and pissing people off. Anyone I have ever hung out with would not say s#@! to a cop when they could loose one of their favorite spots. I guess what I am trying to say is, learn from this. No one wants to loose one of their spots. And all you guys who like riding rails, that’s cool, have fun doing that s#@!, but rails and wax, as I have humbly learned in the past few months, don’t belong anywhere near a ditch. I guess I will all the Allentown skaters on the hills from now on…… Kings RIP

I didn't call any cops and I don'y know any skaters who called the cops. You guys don't give a s#@! 'cause you're just going to college here, right?
