The Dish
On 5/24/2003 Bman wrote in from (68.5.nnn.nnn)

The Dish is supposedly out east of S.D. somewhere. To make it even more difficult an hour east. I have other clues but don't want to give too much info.

The Dish
On 5/24/2003 Nick wrote in from (66.87.nnn.nnn)

The Dish looks like The Reservoir (aka "the thing that Ty Page and Stacy Peralta skated in a couple different oldschool films"), but it cannot be. The Reservoir was dozed in early '76.

There are a million spots like that. Well, maybe not a million, but I'll bet over a hundred. We used to skate a spot called The Crater (RIP) that looked like The Dish, as well.

Feed the BEAR!

Sorry for the delay, but here's a picture of Steve in AZ in the hospital after feeding the Bear in Albuquerque:

This and other new pics can be seen at my online ditch directory Ditches are Deadly, Stay Away!, including Steve's local ditch in AZ! That killer dish will be included in the next update. Anyone have any more info on it, or want to be the local link to it? Drop me a line.

If ya look several postings back I believe you will find the same bowl, ditch, rock-catching-aparatus-thingy off the side of some highway in California. Or is that a different one? It also looks like the thing that Ty Page and Stacy Peralta skated in a couple different oldschool films.

Special thanks and gratitude to all of you folks!
On 5/22/2003 Steve, resting comfortably in AZ wrote in from (130.13.nnn.nnn)

When I got home today from work (yes, I'm back at work now), I found my mailbox FULL of cool stuff and best wishes from this skate community.

In particular, I want to thank:
-Judi O. and the gang at Giro for the helmet (to replace the "Steve" Protec).
-Kaylee and Nyah, for getting everyone to sign the T-shirt
-The crew at SSS, Deathbox, Timeship, Skateclub, BLR for the well wishes.
-Joe, Hillbilly, Mike and Tammy...who knew Friday night at the park would be the last thing I would remember?
-Mike and George for rescuing me at Vic's from the Geezers.
-Jeff Y. at Bozi
-and EVERYONE who kept me in their thoughts and prayers.

I'll be riding again soon enough, but I'm gonna miss Breck. Skate fast without me, and know I wish I were there.

Oh, and Hackett...my wife loved your advice on the T-shirt. The gift that keeps on giving. ;-)

DVD
On 5/22/2003 mike wrote in from (63.226.nnn.nnn)

whoops. should have kept that one on the down low. the footage is real sketchy. a friend of a friend was going to copy the footage onto dvd so he could watch himself skate and for nostalgia i am guessing. its really not that good, i just thought that it might be a nice gesture to steve to make another copy as long as we were doing it once. since it is not my equipment i cannot promise anything, but if anything good turns out and i end up with a copy, i can make some copies on my roomate's computer and send them to people who request one. so like i told hillbilly, don't get your hopes up, but if i end up with something, it is better than nothing i guess. late,

Mike

You probably bruised your tail bone while rolling down the ditch. You took a couple rolls and landed in the botttom on your back, just rolled over to your side with momentum. Glad your OK, I didn't know what to think after that!
Mike, if your makin a dvd of the weekend I would love a chance at one, shoot me an email.

ABQ Mike & me
On 5/22/2003 Steve in AZ wrote in from (192.175.nnn.nnn)

YES!! I'd love to get whatever I can AFA info or pix or video of the event...I know I hit my head, but I don't know how I smacked my tailbone. Maybe I was dropped by the EMT's out of the ambulance or something.

I sent some pix to Kaylee, but he hasn't posted or hosted any of them yet. There's one of the Bear course that I took (and do not remember taking), and a few pix of my ugly mug. Black & Blue & swollen around my left eye and forehead, more swelling around my other eye, and pretty ditch-rash on my left forearm...oh, and the bruised back-side, too.

I'm alive today because my safety equiptment WORKED. I just wish I wouldn't have crashed and was able to enjoy the weekend. Instead, I ruined it for me, my wife, and I was afraid that the race would be moved. Good to hear that after they took me away you were all able to continue at the Bear.

Try emailing me again, Mike.

"Thanks for the memories..."

Steve! great to see you are feeling better. i just tried to email you and got shot down for some reason. how's the noggin? thats funny you've got that receipt. George and myself ate with you. you were all alone in a sea of old retired people and we sat down and ate some great mexican style eggs. i will check my video and see if i had footage of your first run and send it to you if i have one. would you like a DVD copy of the rest of the weekend? i think we are going to try and burn some this weekend. i didn't get the best footage, but something is better than nothing right? email me if you want me to send it to you. otherwise, i wish you a speedy recovery and the best of luck.

Helmet Cam
On 5/22/2003 Steve in AZ wrote in from (192.175.nnn.nnn)

Good thing I didn't have that thing mounted on my second practice run... ~(;-0

C'mon, guys! You've all been so damn supportive, and only Carl (C-money) has taken the pot shots at my lack of balance. Where is the love?

I'm also in need of pictures of me being conscience, prior to the "Crash". Funny, 'cuz I've got a receipt I've signed at Vic's for breakfast, and one pic of the Bear...just no memories of the event. Weird feeling.

Lastly, I did have a small stash of Nicaraguan smokes, but they were all still in my bag when I got home. I do like some of the more mild Cubans, but not the strong ones (like Cohibas or Partagas or Fuentes). I like the Montecristo Cubans the best, followed by the old Bolivars. Othewise, I really like a 48-50 guage Robusto or Toro, nutty, medium and Nicaraguan. Cigars.

Thanks to Joe and Timeship Racing for a great weekend. The Albucrazy locals rip and made us feel right at home. Had a blast riding with and racing against the BLR/DB crew, Arab, K-Lee, George, Mike, The Timeship boys, etc, etc, etc.... It felt like we were all on one big team. Thanks to FCR for a great job with the timing. Palmer's beer run at the Bear was classic. Hey Hack/BLR/DB guys, my brother's helmet cam DID work for most of that run at Indian School. He has got some great video for you to see.
I'll be back in Sept!!!!

yea boys, thanks for the awesome weekend. i was in constant mind overload both at the great skating that was happening and on the great vibe and great people that were there. congradulations are in order for hackett and palmer who skated great. thanks to GMB for letting me shack up at his place over the weekend and driving my sorry ass around. Steve- you heal up man. that was a nasty fall and i hate to see someone get hurt. i just got back in from chicago and haven't had time to express my thanks for hosting a great event. joe- you rock. way to go. i will be wearing my timeship sandia banked slalom shirt with pride. i just dropped film of at the developers and will post some pics as soon as i can scan them. i will also post some video as soon as i figure that out. i got some ok shots of wall riding sunday, bulky and hacks as well as arabs and some others riding that day as well. i got some great bear footage as well as palmers "beer run." i got a little of the park slalom but not much. but anyway, thanks to all the ABQ crew, you guys rock. i will definitely be there in september if not to race to just skate your awesome ditches.
