Wished I coulda been there to get pickled with all y'all. Hey I was thinking of starting a skateboard company but what the heck would I do with all that extra cash? Hey Miko, talk to Evo, he's got a room that I had to back out of since I'm too broke to pay for it. Maybe if you crash there and we get someone else it'll be doable for a bunch of us? Talk to Evo though. I found a couch to surf since I'm unemployed at the moment. On the bright side, I've got something lined up with a temp agency here in Long Beach to get me by after the Worlds...just gotta survive on $400 until after I get back to town. I've been looking at some alternative programs for school...UCLA extension, Long Beach City College, etc...I just gotta find a program that's not gonna send back to the poor house. Can't wait for the Worlds...Wahl, Thomas and Myself sessioned a fun little hill here in Long Beach last night...fun little hybrid course good for some laughs. Tomorrow is the real training day though...up in the morning to the path for some tight and hybrid then onto HB for some 'WTF' slalom consisting of 25 '6 straight cones on a flat surface...makes my back and stomach hurt just thinking about it.     Rate post 182960 ! Many of the instructors there also teach at Art Center (just a few miles away), and PCC's program is geared towards students transfering over. Basically, you can get the first few years of an Art Center education for almost nothing. I also know of a bike shop in the Pasadena area that needs help, since I'm leaving to go work for KHS next month. Email me if you want more info..     Rate post 182724 ! And yes, my track stands are getting better...as long as I haven't had too much to drink. Getting ready for the Worlds...skating with the Professor as much as possible...it'll be more now since I recently got fired from the bike shop I was working at. It's a long story, but in a nutshell, the owner and myself didn't get along at all. Yes, it was personal. I'm having second thoughts about Brooks. It's very, very expensive and the school is having some accreditation issues that scare me. I'm looking into other options for breaking into graphic design at this very moment. Extension course, etc. Anyone out there have any suggestions that might be more cost effective? I'm open to suggestion... Late     Rate post 182443 ! Thanks for the wish Judi, I'll tell Sirie hi for you next time I talk to her. Evans has me on the program down here. We're skating together whenever we can, which may turn out to be only once or twice a week but whatever. Although I can't skate as much as I'd like. I just got a job at a bike/skate shop that of course has me missing the Saturday and Sunday session with the entire SSS crew... Evans and I pulled a two-a-day session yesterday with 5.5' at the 'path' in the am. And just when I thought I had it wired, he threw in some wacky cones to make it hard again!!! After running that course for a while, we set a TS that Evans told me later used to be 'hard', it was a breeze after the 5.5'. Later on in the day, we went to 'Natures' (not to be confused with Kenny) for some super fast GS and smoking 6'...after all this and the additional practice I'll get before the Worlds, I hope I can make the race. heheheheheheheh Now we all know Evans is the Professor, right? Check this out... The first time I skated 'Natures' was a few weeks ago shortly after moving down here. It was my first true TS session in quite a while and Steve was blazing....blazing. I was hitting everything in sight. I couldn't even run the entire course, I had to start part way down. So, this guy was walking by with his dog and stopped to enjoy the action. I had just taken a run and Steve was giving me pointers etc. after I plowed about 15 cones out of 30. Then Evans marches back to the top of the course and throws down this super fast clean run. The guy looks at me and says, "that's why he's the teacher huh?" I calmly turned to him and said, "actually, he's the Professor!!" True story...     Rate post 179316 ! I'm not going to let it go with a simple "I got 11th in the GS." The field was amazingly fast, and the course was a hard one. No way was it a GS, but it was one of the most difficult hybrids I've ridden. In many ways I feel the TS was a no-brainer compared to the hybrid. That 70+ cone course you set on Bernal is a good hard course with a remarkable blend of both super-tight stuff like sunday's course, mixed with *exactly* the kind of offsets we encountered in the hybrid... conincidence???!!!! I think NOT!!!. Thanks for the precog practice course. That run against Barker was my most excellent birthday present sunday. Being 16th pro was a laugh cause I knew I had to run against the fastest qualifier. I had a few good jokes with Fluitt about trading my 16th for his 17th spot, but was glad we left *that* alone. My plan was to barge, but it was a scant .0075 secs, so a penalty of .015 was totally worth it. I got out way ahead and managed to stay there to the halfway point. Then I could tell he was pushing it. I was stoked to only hit 4 cones, but realize I need to hit even less. I let up on the second run and realize I need to race 100% committed EVERY run in the fast brackets. I truly think we all have more in reserve than we know (or believe), and it's the hardest thing to train for... building that faith and being willing to be confident in that, then *really* pulling it off. That's what we really need to work on. How the hell do we do that? Anyway, congrats on your 11th Pro GS finish my friend! I'm shooting for some Bernal action monday night if anyone's interested. I'm glad you all converged on Breck. I missed seeing you all at some of the earlier races. I didn't do so well fly'n the Nor-Cal flag at Luna. Did a bit better at Hood, and thankfully a crew came down to La Costa to kick some butt! Cause I got mine kicked on sunday. Looks like I might be out for the rest of this year darn-it. Got 6 more weeks in the cast, might get it off right before the Worlds if all goes well. Mike, all the best to you with the move and school and all. The big winner was David Price - 4th in DH over Chaput. What a gas - the Comet Downhill DNA runs deep. Miko makes final Pro 16 in TS, and almost beats Barker on his first run. You should have seen it - right down to the last few cones. Mark Johnson makes final 4 in TS - he did a really nice job beating some good talent Judi consistently is on the podium with a 2nd in TS and GS. AS I think about it, probably the longest streak of 1-2 finishes in skating history, as far as I can tell. I took an 11th in Pro GS and 6th in Open TS. What is the latest with you - job, school, skating, living, etc. - give us an update Ravitch     Rate post 178772 ! You would of done very well at the venue. It was great to see the Nor Cal boys do so well. Bernal has paid off. Miko, Mark and John Kim thanks for all the tips and all the great training time. I felt a bit rusty since I hadn't races since October. Mike you'll have to start meeting us for some great practice sessions. I think the bike training has really helped so keep up with the cross training it really works. David you did very well on the slalom courses and killed in on the Downhill. I thought about doing it since I use to love it so much. Then I remind myself I'm almost 45 and I have 2 great kids. Mom doesn't need to do it all. See you soon So.
