Hey Mike, sorry I missed you when you were in Connecticut... I live just outside of New Haven and am .. maybe 5 minutes away from downtown. I'm glad you like New Haven, it has this reputation of being a s#@!hole but most of it is nice. Of course, there are some places you don't go!
Congrats on geting onto design school, I beleive you, mike gorman, and I are all designers... go ick go!

Gravity's are a good suggestion.
Also, check out the Abec 11 line up.
The 70's Flashbacks are sort of like old school kryptos, come in harder duros and are reportedly good for sliding. Very good longboard cruising wheel.
You could check out Kryptonics, also. But the flashbacks are more like old kryptos than the new kryptos are, if that makes any sense.

Good question, I don't know of any wheels off the top of my head other than Cambrias. They come in the hardnesses you seek however I dunno how well they slide. I've heard of Edger wheels but don't know the duros they come in. Anyone out there have better knowledge of wheels that could pitch in on the discussion?

Any advice for a 35 year old skater, who was pretty good in the mid to late 80's. I've been long boarding the last couple years and finally found some kryptonic c70's for the hauling ass hill bombs. But now what I really crave is an old fishtale board (like a madrid jon lucereo with the mtech spoon nose, alva fish , etc) & most importantly some wheels like the old ratbones 85a or 90a durometer. I cant seem to find any wheels that are smooth fast on real world terain, and have that smooth controllable slide for downhill power rides.
anyway sorry if this rabbles im not much of a computer guy. any way do you know of a modern wheel that will give me that old world slide without chattering my teeth out of my skull? p.s. any one want to go for a ride im allways ready in oregon . long rides no pushing no kick flips big carves power slides and maybee if im drunk ill throw in a bonless for the old days.

She lives almost at the corner of State and Bradley. It's certainly not ghetto. The tag sale is simply a New Haven name for a yard sale or garage sale as they are known elsewhere. I kept seeing these signs all over town announcing a tag sale. We checked one out and got a nice little table for $9. No kidding Kenny, the Big Apple is the place to be. Everything I experience in the few hours I was there was very memorable. Watch out East Coast I could be on the move...well, once I finish my studies at Brooks. Stepping out of the commuter train and into Grand Central was amazing. I felt like I was in a movie. The kicker was walking up the stairs out of the subway in the middle of Times Square. It felt like I finally got to a party I had been trying to get to for years.
Da Farm, man one of these years I WILL make that one. Breck, don't think so. Wish I could but this little trip to New Haven has drained my bank account and right now I'm unemployed waiting for the final payment for my car to happen. At this point, I don't even know about the Worlds. School starts in October and if there are any conflicts between skateboarding and school, school will win for the next couple years. I'm going to continue to practice with the Professor and SSS so the next time I race I can come out swinging, at least swinging harder and more accurate than LC. The plan is to NOT do what I did at La Costa...It'll be a differnt skater with an Ick Stick under his feet.
So, what's happening in the slalom world right now?
Gotta roll, I've got some running around to do then Sirie and I are going to the beach. And yes, east coast beaches are beautiful, quite impressive even to this California boy.hehe... No surf though, unless you're GI Joe, fitting into 4 inch closeout tubes.

Not quite TK. A tag sale is when someone wants to sell all contents of a home, usually after someone passes away. A professional comes to the house and "tags" the items for sale. Robin and I purchase some vintage patio furniture at a tag sale a few years ago. Robin is tag sale queen. Usually furniture, antiques, etc.
Mike-
Sounds like you are tasting some fine east coast food and enjoying the vibe of the Big Apple. I have only been a few times, but it really is America's city. The energy is much different than the west coast- dont you think?
The New England beaches are the most beautiful in the country, except not much waves (pipe down Ohm). Glad you are having fun. Should have come to the farm. It was killer. Can we stay with you next year in your loft in the City?

I'm staying on Bradly street. We spent the day in NYC yesterday. My first time to the Big Apple. I gotta say, once I finish school I'm going to look for work there. The place in crazy. We had a walk around Times Square, walk around the park, champagne at the Carlyle, a few hours at the Met, then to the Village for some of the most unbelievable Ossobuco I've ever tasted, then to something Castaways to see some live music. Just returned to New Haven on the commuter train this afternoon.
Skating sounds cool, but I'm not prepared to skate. Didn't bring a board or pads. Thanks for the invite though.

Mike ,what street in new haven, I lived there for 20 years. Go to Toads Place for live music and Napels Pizza downtown for the best slice in the world. My Mom and Dad still live there right by Sleeping Giant park. TK

Coming to you live from Sirie's New Haven apartment this week. New Haven is a rad little city. Not much hills right here in New Haven you've got to travel to hills around in the neighboring cities and towns. Very wooded back here. Very green and dense...it's weird for me, I'm a California kid through and through...I'm not used to this type of scenery, but I like it. There's no palm trees, no desert. But anyway...no slalom practice!! Thank goodness too, sheesh I need a break I got more practice in during the first week of my residence in Long Beach than I got the entire time I lived in SF. (just kidding, I did skate a lot though.) I know I'll stay in better slalom form down south with the 'SSS' crew and 'the Professor'.
On that note, on my request, Evo cut the Ick Tail down for me. It's still got a nice little pocket in the tail for the foot and also has a nice little shape in the nose. I'm making it my tight board and will run it in the 18" inner hole to inner hole dimension.
Quiz...what's a TAG SALE? I'll tell y'all later on this evenin'.
And don't worry, I'm pretty set in who I am and am confident wherever I go or whoever meet won't change that. Sheesh, I'm 32 years old...I hope by this time in my life I'm past that. As far as LBC is going, I'm stoked to do some living in a new place. A new WARM place, where I can sleep with my windows OPEN, where I can go outside at 9am without a t-shirt on and NOT freeze, go surfing in SHORTS or a spring suit, go for bike ride on the boardwalk.......did I mention it was warm? I enjoy the adventure of new places. Hell, San Fran was new to me a couple short years ago now I feel like a local.
So, I found out on Wednesday I got accepted to Brooks College for Graphic Design. Woo Hoo!!! I couldn't be more stoked. Going to design school has been a dream of mine for a long, long time. School starts October 4th and I see the Worlds are the weekend of the 8th...damn, that might cause a conflict but I'll have to wait and see schedules and stuff.
Hey John, the feelings mutual brother. I wish we could have surfed together or somethin'. Although you know, I'm not living in a different country. I'll still come up and visit all the NorCal crew. I haven't got nearly enough of Tunnel yet. Hopefully someone will let me couch surf up there if I feel the need to escape helL.A. Anyhoo...
That's the skinny....I'm going to the Atlantic Ocean later today. I might even jump in.

mike, I was traveling for a year, just got back to my house here. One of the
main reasons was to surf for a whole winter with no booties, which I did.
just yesterday I picked up your old fatboy and proto turner I had stored at
a friends house.

Welcome to the East Bay. When I get back from my trips, I want to skate the hills with you. In the mean time, have fun at Tunnel and the other roads. With roads for all levels and skaters with different levels of skills, you won't have a problem finding someone to ride with. Check out Grizzley Peak from Centennial to Euclid, and then down Euclid to the Campus. It is probably somewhere around 3 to 4 miles.

Great move Maysey. From the outside, it seemed that the San Fran thing was not the best move for you. Warmer weather, great beaches, the best/most dedicated racers, and a new life direction never hurt anyone. GOOD LUCK with school and settling in SO Cally.
