Hey ARAB !!!! (looks around) nice place you got here...Seriously, dude, I'm gonna try to make 2 Cali races this year, and I really look forward to meeting you and the rest of the gang. You may have decided I'm a "KOOK" but remember, we both started on clay wheels, have both loved skating since whatever fateful day in the 60s we discovered it, both love slalom, parks, banks...People start making comparisons like "he's better than so-and-so" or whatever, but the group of "40 year old skaters who are still way into it" is a small group, and as such, should try to stick together. Am I going to place well at west coast races? probably not. Curt Kimbel has close to 2 seconds on me usually, so I'll probably be mid pack at best, but I will be doing the best I can, and will be having a good time. and I'll be doing it on whatever equipment works best for me according to a timer. not what someone has given me. Not what someone has told me I need. Not what I picked because I always used it before. There are guys at the middle of the pack who are looking for 10ths and 100ths as hard as guys in the front. Anyway. Just wanted to drop by and say hey.

Hi Arab, just the other day i was talking to a slalom newby that i had sent to this site and others. the newby was very confused. i told em to forget about it, just ride and race when you can. he asked me who half of the people posting were, giving advice as he had never heard of them and never seen them at a race. they were going to get bogged down in the equipment race. 8 boards, 24 wheels and tooo many trucks (i never brought up bearings) please enlighten the confused newby. Right on - good story - I think there's coupla guys here in Pedro that are still calling me "Dick Head" back from when I was 10 and I don't even know why. As for the Arab moniker, I got that when I was about 10 yrs old, I use to wear my t-shirt, collar around my head sleeves tied behind, when skatin,football,baseball whatever, this guy started calling me the Arab, Same guy named my brother "Gringo", this guy had a nick name for everybody, to this day some 30 yrs later, we all still have them.

What I think it is, is that a handful of lackeys really want to be you (little arab's) and they figure if they square off against Hugh "The Bad Man" R, that they'll get arab points... at the end of the Chucky Cheese experience they can trade them in for free bearings!

Why do the ousters care so much about what I write or say? If I am really "THE" laughing stock of the skateboarding scene, then why does it matter what I think, say, or do?
Isn't being the fastest guy in slalom kinda like being the toughest guy in the High School Band? Or at least the toughest guy on the golf team?
