Way too many Mikeys in this world. Mr. Moore thank God you aren't my parent. But yes you finally got it right cowboy. I'm not attacking, I'm communicating. (Ignorance is preferable to error, and he is less remote from the truth who believes nothing than he who believes what is wrong. -Thomas Jefferson) Don't expect me to be emailing you personally. Public forums like this are much more effective and get more exposure. CW is unique because it relies in a big way from contributors. Unlike the larger magazines with a knowledgeable staff. You have to be really be on top of things. I've seen images flipped backwards and misrepresenting the true layout of a skate park or pool. Who wants to remember their old skate park backwards?. No doubt you probably have loads of poor quality material coming in, short deadlines and short minded people. But you really need to be more quality minded. I want to see CW be successful and I'm glad you are beginning to take some of my posts in a more constructive way.

Kevin, Give me your phone number and lets chat about this more. I can't believe I'm responding to your idiot question. No where in my posts have I stated that my opinion is representing anyone or any company other than myself. CW is a good thing but needs some work period.

For the record, are you representing Skaterbuilt in your criticisms of CW?

Michael, You missed the boat long ago. My initial post was not directed at your first ass kiss'n post. It just happened to fall above it and you happened to have the same name as Mikey from Canaduh. I'm not against you or CW growing. I'm all for it and I hope nothing but success. Especially for little guys like you. But I do believe that CW needs more suggestions and constructive criticism especially in this forum. And as long as I'm able to I will be expressing my opinions and relevant clichés. God Bless America.

Bill,
You are absolutely correct. We DO need to listen to readers, and their opinions, and we DO. Michael is in Canada, I'm in Texas, we have contributors all around the world. My opinion is that because of this...we aren't "Cali-centric". Obviously California is the center of skate world, but it's not the whole of it. We aren't producing the same magazine that has been produced before...and we're proud of it. You've offered your opinions, and we thank you for them. I extend to you an offer to contribute. Write an article, take a photo, get on board.
Previous posts by you have angered me, much like any parent would be angered by an attack on his or her child. Then I realized, hopefully correctly, that possibly you weren't attacking. This great communication device, the internet, sometimes causes more problems than it fixes. Please email me directly with any suggestions you have, or contributions you'd like to make.
Thanks, Mike Moore

thanks....I avoid cliches like the plague....
With the recent ructions caused by Transworld being taken over by a New York based corporation (I may be wrong as to exact location) and the recent departures of great, industry leading staff, I'm interested in your perspective. Certainly the feedback I get is that Transworld is getting lost. Thrasher is better, but then it always was in my opinion. Here we have Sidewalk, and Document, both full of rails, but Sidewalk has recently done some great articles on bowls, and history too. By the way, potential advertisers in CW and current ones, Skaterbuilt, Bozi, Deathbox, Gravity, Bulldog etc reach many many customers of mine in the UK, becuase not only do we carry the magazine, but a large specialist mag importer has seen the potential too. This HAS to be good news. My sales have gone up in direct proportion to the increased number of mags on the street. I'm inclined to ass kiss any supplier who has bent over backwards...(easier to kiss their ass I feel) to help us get mags out there featuring all kinds of skating. I can only go by how Octane have been treated, and I'm happy to say the CW has gained in popularity precisely becuase it has listend to its readership. The latest issue featured a two page article on one of mat favorite skateparks, Harrow, in London. Now I used to go there all the time, dreaming it was California....Its great there is a mag that is willing and able to catch that feeling. California may be the home of skating, but its not necesarily the home of todays skaters. Hope that makes sense!

Mikey, I have the first issues of Thasher, Transworld, CW etc...No doubt they get better..I should hope so. Like I said, CW will only get better if its readers continue to offer critical opinions and have high expectations. They are not located in the US like Thrasher and other magazines. They are out of touch and do not have the experienced staff such as the other magazines have. Gonna take more than just time for CW to get better. And it sure isn't gonna be ass kiss'n from you.

Ever see the first issue of Thrasher? I regard the first issue as more than just a mag. It marks a shift from a free, give away magazine to what we have today in CW. A magazin that covers all forms of skating, from all over. CW has improved with every issue. And I suspect that it will continue to improve. I look forward to seeing Wahl's World on the newstands in 3 continents soon!

Michael, I'm aware of Duane being on the cover. Do you really consider that first issue a magazine? What a joke. How many pages did it have?. That picture of Duane was terrible. Taken too early and the quality was bad. The staff at CW has ruined countless images by contributing photographers. They have selected photos that obviously show their lack of skateboarding experience. In the last issue with Jay Smith on the cover CW should have left Duanes interview out of that issue so they could have given Jay the extra space instead of giving him three pages of poorly chosen and cropped images. Just goes to show you that the photo editor etc..have little skateboard knowledge. CW will never get better unless there is critical response from its readers.

After seeing the CW magazine at the ASR this weekend. I was disappointed to see how much space you gave to Danforth. There is no doubt he was a great skater in his day. But I don't see how he deserves twice the amount of pages as Duane Peters and Jay Smith. Both true skate legends and deserving more than what you gave them in your previous issue. I think it's a great idea to give a legendary skater the cover and exclusive exposure as you did with Danforth. But this should have been the other way around. Duane deserved the cover and as many or more pages as Danforth. I don't think the folks at CW know much about skateboarding as they do politics. I can't help but wonder about CWs connection with Tracker Trucks is like. Perhaps someday you will get it right Michael. The mag is getting better and the text and content blunders are minimizing. But your skateboard knowledge is lacking in a big way. Time to move to California and get in touch with what is really going on.

Getting more sitings of CW in regular newsagents....this has to be good news, especially as so many Co's I deal with advertise in CW. It cant just be a coincidence that Skaterbuilts are selling well this month, what with Jay Smith on the cover.... Mind you, Pocket Pistols are doing well, despite my picture!!!
Keep Up the good work, the word is DEFINATELY spreading!!!!

OHM-I'm trying to procure the mag for you, Stubbs, if you got a spare can you send it to Mike?, and if I can get more I'll send ya what I get.
Michael good seeing you at ASR today, it was great to walk right in and within minutes we had over takin an intersection at one end of the floor: Dale Smith, Roger Hickey, Buddy Carr, Dan Gesmar, Mike Stelmasky, DebS Gordan, Dave Andrecht, Eric Lee and a plethora of others all standing around talking about CW!
I talked to Gesmar last night and told him to save me a mag because I wasnt gonna be there bright and early, I drove 2 hours to get the new CW and got shut down, there was none to be found anywhere but the one you had left in your bag.
CW was a hot commodity, I even went by the Vision booth and had the guy tear the place apart looking for a stragler to no avail.
Thanx for letting me rifle through yours real quick.
Good Job!
Also, since Big brother has gone caput, I found a stack of the last issue and horded them all, never know they might be worth something some day............
OK, I got to admit, as much as I enjoy CW, I got an email from Terri at Juice with the latest update of Juice. DAMN!!!! Talk about a long wait, but I think it is gonna be well worth it, you should see what is in the upcoming issue!
Stoked that there is quality mags that cater to my likes.
Also, If I might add, I got no problem seeing rail Shots in CW, It wouldnt be 100% skateboarding if not, I just dont want to see 100% rail shots!

We had a huge response from folks at the Vision booth yesterday at ASR... among the highlights:
Bill Danforth, Jay Smith, Dave Hackett, Duane Peters (serving up mohawks!), Pineapple, Richy Carrasco, John Lucero, Roger Hickey,
Free Beer! We ran out in 1/2 hour!
We had hundreds of folks and a large number of advertisers....lot's of fun.
Thanks to Tom Allen (of VAS Entertainment/Skinned Alive), Ron Camero (of Vision) and everyone who showed up...
Next time, we promise even more hijinks and fun!
The Bill Danforth issue ships this week...honest
Cheers Michael

Howdy, As we were talking about photos earlier this week, I picked up the latest issue of "WATER" magazine yesterday, AWESOME!! The photos really tell stories. The waves are just incredible and the style and aggession shown in the photos is the kind of stuff I'd like to see in CW.(obviously with skateboards in place of the surfboards!! LOL) The article on "Eating Sh#t" is a must read/view. "WATER" is amazing; I had no problem dropping $10 on it, because it doesn't have ads, and it's top notch. Much better than the "SURFER" photo annual that just came out. Check it out. Chris Olden
