Rookie and SST stopped by the office late last night to do some planning on the website and they brought me a disk of some DHB skate videos set to some killer tunes. DHolt, SST, and Rookie, have done a great job and man, I can't wait until we have another jam so that we can shoot more vid! Rookie has all the stuff for the site now and is working on it big time! Wait until you see these clips! They rock. I am going to have at least one of the up for you guys to access soon. I will let you know when it's available .
Thanks go to Rookie, SST, and DHolt, for their contribution of fuel for the DHB stoke!

Shayne, Nah Dude...just used to live there...actually near there...back behind Cum Park Plaza (the name of that place still makes me laugh!).
We need to get you rippers over here to Statesville to ride with the DHB crew before you go on your trip. We can put together the crew for some big ol longboard super G slalom, bombing, or some uptown night riding. With the street style you guys have you need to definitely come up for one of our night patrols.

Thanks for the props. I feed off of energy like that and its cool. Bro's, the vibe that we are trying to share is coming from a collective group of people who are all pouring themselves into it. I get a lot of credit for what the DHB's are doing but the truth is that the credit goes to everyone involved. The locals here in the Statesville area are jacked up about what is happening and people like Dave G in WV, Lenny Poage in Ohio, Wesley Tucker in SC, Gary Saenz in VA, Ben Barkey in WV, have all added fuel to the stoke....along with all of you who follow what is happening through this medium (more than I can name) ...I have just tried to take on the role of organizer and communicator...a sort of "town cryer" for the DownHill Billies shouting from every street corner I can find how awesome it is to skate, be a DHBer, and to share the stoke!
As far as the blending of all the downhill skate disciplines that was a personal goal of mine. Longboarding is my passion for sure..but slalom is exciting, sliding is awesome, parks rock, and street skating is rad as heck. For me the DHB's purpose is to fuel the stoke of any skate discipline it's members chose to participate in and embrace. Skateboarding is skateboarding.
Thanks again for the kind words. Keep an eye on these forums because you are going to see the DownHill Billies grow and grow. From the first jam in January of this year to the one held in March we literally doubled the number of skaters from around 15 to over 35...It was crazy! Now that Rookie has stepped up to the plate and is taking over the development of the website it will be up very soon.

Thanks for the shout, Monson. I've been putting more energy into music lately, as at 41, I'm in my own band for the first time and we're doing all original music. It's cut into my skate time, but the weather and my health require that I fuel the stoke a bit with more skating. Its the nightride season and I got out for a bit last night. Your post is fueling my stoke at a time when I feel a rebirth coming on.
NCL, I'm still logging on and tracking the progress of the down hillbillies - you've really done great things to promote the sport. I was very envious that my mug was not in the picture from your last get together. There's a chance that work will take me to North Carolina this summer. If that happens, I'll be looking you up for a skate. There was a time before your posting where everything slalom related seemed to take a negative twist sooner or later. Your abundance of stoke and limited ego are a breath of fresh air. I really appreciate your full view of the skate world and your possitive approach to it all.
One last thing. A friend sent me a picture he took during a night session a while back. If I send it to you can you post for me? No big deal either way. I'll qualify before I send and tell you that despite the fact that my mom is a head injury nurse, I'm helmetless in the pic. I usually wear one, but I was riding with a friend from out of town that always bites it several times when we ride. I gave him my lid, but wore the wrist gaurds.
Ride on all...

Lenny: Dude, that is rocking pic bro! You look like you were killin it!
Local DHB Crew: Dudes, yesterday was another awesome day with the local skate crew. We set up a big wide open Super G on Top Gun at the Spot for a some killer longboard slalom. Everyone wired it in and big shout out goes to Rookie who basically shredded the course riding a 58" Wicked Wonder longboard standing practically on the nose of it! It was sick fast and this dude just went for it! The DHB's have embraced Giant Slalom and are learning every time they ride. It was a great day...some video footage was shot that I know is going to be great. DHolt returned from his knee injury and was riding well and it was good to see Steve O back from his scary crash a few weeks ago that knocked him out and gave me a serious concussion. He was sporting his lid (as he was when he crashed) and now is our biggest proponents for helmets on the squad! Jaybird, Lil' E, Jason, and Shannon all shredded yesterday as well.
Here is DHold being filmed by Shannon on the Super G:
Check out the rest of the pics: http://photobucket.com/albums/v329/DownHillBillies/Super%20G%20April%202005/
DHB Website Update: Because of my crazy schedule we have been delayed a great deal in getting our site up but Rookie has stepped up and offered his services as Webmaster. The site will be up by next week! Promise! Thank you all for your patience. I still need pics from alot of you out of town DHB crew so please email me what you have...Lenny, Dave G, I think I got you covered.

Here's a shot from yesterday. I didn't know whether to put it here (since I'm on a longboard) or Pools and Parks (since it's at a park), but I figure I check this one more frequently; so it'll go here.

Shayne! Dude, I used to live in Burlington! You guys are definitely cut out to be DownHill Billies. Checked out your website...cool stuff...and killer riding.
I am in Chicago this week but will be returning on Fiday. I will drop you an email but if you send me one to karr@downhillbillies.org with your mailing address and shirt sizes the DownHill Billies will hook you up with some shirts for your trip. When you are leaving?
Gary Saenz: Hey dude, Saturday is going to be a bust for me for skating Hobby Park after being gone this week but if you get a chance go check it out. I am going to get up with Darren this weekend and hopefully we can print your shirt and I can fire it off to you in the mail next week. Our trade is still on.
Talk to all of you local DHBer's when I get back to town. Flying into Greensboro tomorrow afternoon and we have a home soccer game at Hound Holler tomorrow night against K-town. Hannah hare a game in Charlotte Saturday morning but I will be around the house the rest of the day. Maybe we can get a skate session going on Sunday afternoon.
Later Maters! The Windy City is not so windy right now...the weather up here is great! Flying home to North Cacalacky tomorrow! In my mind I'm going to Carolina. Can't you just feel the sunshine, can't just taste the moonshine, the pain is like a friend of mine that hits me from behind, cause Im goin to Carolina in my mind.
