I will be teaching a couple of skateboard classes this spring 2007. May 12 th will be a slalom skateboarding class will teach basic skills on balance and technique. We will split the class into groups based on skill level. Class will start with a short review on safety, proper helmet fit, slides, footbraking and pumping. It's fun, great exercise and does not require much equipment. Basic skateboard skills required. Skater should be able to push start and turn. World record downhill and former World Champion, John Hutson, Freestyle Champion, Gary Holl and professional racer John Ravitch will assist with instruction. Bring your own skateboard. Helmets, knee pads and elbow pads required.Beginning/Intermediate Slalom Skateboard Class Santa Cruz June 9 th is the Skateboard Slide Class. Have you ever gotten going to fast and couldn't run it out. This will be a good back pocket tool to get yourself out of a bad situation. Worth taking with skate legend Cliff Coleman. Description: Learning skate sliding techniques helps with numerous aspects of skating and increases safety in the sport. Slide class will teach skateboarders how to slide stop and slide to turn. Cliff Coleman will help teach the class. Cliff is a world class slalom skateboarder and teaches slide clinics worldwide.

Women longboarders in the Northeast

Hey all, I posted on the general spot then realized that there was a woman only forum here...I just started longboarding about a year ago because my daughter took up skating, now we are both longboarders, and are turning on some of our friends. Question: Are there any women longboarders in the Albany NY or NY/MA/VT tri-state area? We would love to hook up for regular sessions with other like minded girls and women. Please drop me a line if you are nearby or even not nearby because it's hard trying to hook up one woman at a time to skate, although I'm doing it :) I'll have a full quiver with a Lush Mako, a Dregs Maggie, a KrackedSkulls, and a Sector 9. Why? I love gear. Plus, if I meet someone who's interested in skating, I'll put her on a board, attach requisite safety gear, and head down the hills with her in Albany. I need teachers myself and other women to hang with who already know how to skate because I'm a beginner teaching beginners. My blog is www.adventurouswoman.net, where I write about women who kayak, climb, bike and skate. Read all about bonking and puking, llamas in the yard, climbing in the Gunks, girls on bikes and what it takes to fix your chain. I hope to hear from you soon as I'm posting far and wide to find like minded chicas to hang with on the concrete. I know you are out there....please feel free to drop me a line to let me know I'm not alone here....photonicgirl@hotmail.com

Congrats! Wow great news you two.
I've been in Jackson Hole all week and was just skimming through the slalom section. (Snow sales meeting for work.) Got some hill time in. Got to have a nice lunch with JK. Thanks John and Debbie it was fun catching up.
Lynn it wasn't quite the same without you in NC. I know we would of been racing from the top.

A little belated, but here is the podium shot from the 2006 Sandia All Around Challenge. Isa Ruiz on the left won and 2nd was Judith Rogers. Isa's all-aorund trophy was bigger than Ryan Ricker's(mens 1st place. Now the ladies can say their's is bigger.
Heres Judith taking her qualifying run at the downhill race.

That was an awesome race! I'm stoked to keep doing slalom. A couple days ago I practiced with Isabelle and yesterday was Downhill Divas. I only skated the tight slalom that Lynn est up. I didn't even go near the giant slalom! Anyway... I hope to see you soon Judi. Hopefully next race I won't DQ! ;)

Amy, Twinkie, and Kyndra great skating. You guys are the future of this sport for the women.
Lynn you are fast and fun to race. Thanks again for all your hardwork.
Hope to see more girls and women racing in the future.

Isabelle, I've said it before and I'll say it again. You and all the other ladies down there keeping the stoke alive, absolutely rock! I miss the year round sun of Cali but the weather has been beautiful here in Vancouver. I wish I could have been there for another DHD! I'm skating as much as I can here, I forgot how big our mountain roads are! The girls scene is growing quick! As soon as I am in Cali again (possibly around x-mas) I would love to come and skate! Or maybe we can get up to GMR for some wicked speed and turns.
Anywho, take care ladies! Heal up Isabelle!!!! And Lynn you kick butt for keeping the divas alive!
Later skaters, Carly in Canada

we had a blast and despite a torn calf, i could bomb and push mongo back up the hill - SO FUN. kudos to our newest members: elyse, lauren, sarah, and sunshine, who all aaded their own flavor to the good time. chaput and erik were our male chaperone's and are always so wonderfully helpful with the divas. mostly to lynn for being the maddest-skater chick of all time - full of love for us all - newbie to master - sharing her stoke and skill! lastly, we divas are priming for the la costa open......may it happen - PLEASE!?

I'm so sorry to hear about Isabelle's calf. Nobody likes to be injured, especially for a Downhill Divas clinic.
I'm going to skate Pumpstation Saturday anyway, and would like to welcome all Divas to come out at 4pm. Any and all abilities are welcome. We'll skate some slalom and some downhill, and help each other improve, in proper DD fashion.
