This is a great oppurtunity for downhill FEMALE longboarders. My cousion Toni Gemayel, and I, Daniel Fernandez are planning a trans-continental downhill adventure looking for the best hills in the U.S. to skate down. In the process of this "search" the group will produce podcasts, videos, and pics all with our sponsors' names on it. Yes, u read it right, we are in the process of obtaining sponsors. Right now we have Concrete Wave, a national longboarding magazine to feature us in a three page article. If you are intrested in coming, e-mail the team at: adventureskateteam@gmail.com. SPACE IS LIMITED. HURRY on this offer. Tell all ur female friends about this. The trip is going to be held in the summer of '07.
GIRLS FROM CA or FL ONLY plz, thanks.
Take care ladies,

As for shoes, I would recommend vans. I've been skating in vans for years on long and short boards, I find they last longer than most any other shoe. As for speeds, I've been clocked by a friend following in a car at 49mph, the ;speed limit on the street was only 25. I want to try the hill in Fountain Hills, Az where Gary Hardwick holds the downhill record at 62mph.

Alright, so, I'm over here in Connecticut visiting my dad, and he taught me how to longboard. I'm looking to find some people to longboard with and help me learn more stuff with when I go back home to Oregon in late August. I love the sport, and I need to share the stoke with some locals. I live near Bend Oregon if anyone wants to hook up and take me around the area. Email me if you're interested.

Hey everyone I have been riding longboards scence i was really young and started to build my own boards around 4 years ago. Latly I have wandered around Provo Ut and havent found many good hills. Latest and best I have hit was a couple days ago when I hit 65 mph but I still want to go bigger and faster. I am currently riding a regular pin tail flat board with lucky 7 (titanium) with the 70's flashbacks and Randal 180's with the bones hard bushings. I love the set up becasue it lets me be very versitial with what I ride. I really need some help getting faster and maby some local luge hills would be cool. But mostly I need someone who has the guts to do it with me. My friends are longboarders and I have built all of there boards but they dont dare to get much speed I dont know why but I guess there a little boaring lol. I am 16 and have a need for speed. Plz someone contact me with some info on maby some good riding spots and maby a friend as daring as me would be nice to. Well later all!!

hey guys thanks for the stories, luckily the chip has gone back into place on its own, so i wont need any surgery, we lost our last allstar game, i couldn't play. but i have one tomorrow and w/ my elbow tapped and braced ill be able to play. basically i just got blessed, all the docs said itd be luike 5-6 weeks, and im bouncing back in just 3 weeks, lots of prayer :) well i hope you guys encounter the same blessing, ill be skating after allstars is over, if anyone lives around Santa Monica hit me up i have like 6 longboards. right now im going thougha series of injections in my elbow, to help restore and strengthen the tendons and ligaments, It s some amazing stuff, it fixed both my knees after injuries that other docs said required surgery, if you want some info on the treatment hit me up, this doctor is amazing! it sounds suspect (his clinic is in ensanada mexico) my mom is a harvard medical graduate, and was a practicing oncologist, and she has had her neck fixed after a car wreck and her back fixed after a fall, docs sadi she needed surgery, but now shes lifting weights and back in shape, better than ever, he also fixed my dads knees, after he had a bunch of knee surgeries that didnt work, and fixed his hipped after he tore some stuff, anbd now im gettting better after only one treatment. so you can call me anytime guys (its not some quack medicine or anything, he just does it in mexico to avoid all the legal issues and taxes, my mom says he knows the body better than anyone else, if she trusts herself with him, then its all good.) 310 467 1399 It really works

Hey
I'm nearly 19 now been skating for about 3 years. When I was 15 I was hit by a car skating 6 days after july 4th. Ruined my summer almost killed me, broke my tibia/fibia really badly. 3 surgeries and 9 days in the hospital.
But the upside to the story is how stoked I got after I got better. Inspiration for me came in a song, whilst sitting in a hospital bed my friend gave me The Clash's Album London Calling. 3rd to last track is a song which is the reason I ever picked up the board again.
"I'm Not Down Lyrics
(Strummer/Jones)
If it's true that a rich man leads a sad life N' that's what they from day to day Then what do all the poor do with their lives? Have nothing to say on judgment day?
I've been beat up, I've been thrown Out but I'm not down, I'm not down I've been shown up, but I've grown up And I'm not down, I'm not down
On my own I faced a gang of jeering in strange streets When my nerves were pumping and I Fought my fear in, I did not run I was not done
And I have lived that kind of day When none of your sorrows will go away It goes down and down and hit the floor Down and down and down some more Depression But I now there'll be some way When I can swing everything back my way Like skyscrapers rising up Floor by floor, I'm not giving up
So you rock around and think that You're the toughest In the world, the whole wide world But you're streets away from where It gets the roughest You ain't been there"
Ever since then having skating beat me made me want to get good at it in the worst way. And if you saw me race last year you know what I mean by worst way. Ever since 2003 I've been extremely comitted to skating, practicing and spreading the stoke. Just don't let it get you down.

Sam,
I'm 3 months post operation of a pretty terrible knee injury and I'm in the same boat as you. Serious damage to the tendons in my knee. I just started skating about 3 weeks ago and it's SICK. You'll be back on your board again, and sooner than you think and you'll soon respect every carve, hill, and ride you get to do when you return. Keep at it, do your physio, and have alot of fun.

im not making it up, but now it looks like itll be shorter cast time, but ill need a lot of phisical therapy, becasue apparently the fracture already fused back on,but i tore tome tendons and ligaments, so now my arm doesnt straiten all the way, so i have to wait a couple weeks for them to heal then i can start physical therapy.....yay.....right....
rip it up for me.

well, heres one, for you guys yesteday at 3:30 I was bombing bicknel hill with a couple guys, and we were filming a video. so i bombed it like 6 times doin different stuff, i was riding my loaded pintail. So on like my 7th run, i bombed it as fast as i could and when i was getting toward the bottom I grabbed near the nose of the board with my left arm and streched out my right on the ground (with a sliding glove) and started thes crazy drift slide into the turn. I was going at least 25mph or around there. so as im sliding outward, back and around the "turn" I hit this crack thats about and inch and a half wide and so it stops my board and pitches me backwards. my arm that had been grabbing the board got pinned behind my back and i did a backwards somersault and hit my head really hard,(luckily i was wearing my helmet) and as i summersaulted my elbow dislocated witha loud pop, but when i popped up it wewnt into place again, but i had chipped a pretty good size piece off my elbow, so i left to skate home holding my elbow, i had forgot my phone and the bus was like a mile away, and my arm hurt like hell, so like randomly this little 11 year old kid who lives on my block saw me and and yelled out to me, so i told him i broke my arm and needed a ride, so i hopped in the czar and his babbysitter gave me a ride home, so yeah lucky i didnt have to skate home witha busted arm, so yeah then my mom took me to get xrays, and now im done with life for like six weeks. no working at the surf camp, no skating, no surfing, no bikeing, no throwing my little sister in the air, and the worst of it is, ive been batting .800 all season in baseball and made allstars and now i have to forfeit my spot, so yeah life sucks, but hey sh@% happens

Hey man, just head to your local thrift store, find a good old wooden (no plastic garbage, that won't work) waterski, take all the binding crap off, and then get crafty with woodworking tools to fine tune the shape, and you have a longboard. Just use the nose as the tail since it turns up. It's a little narrow, but I still ride my first one I made at 40+ mph. Just be careful when drilling truck holes.
