Biltin shields
On 11/10/2006 S.Smith wrote in from United States  (67.182.nnn.nnn)

Since my last post,I cleaned my biltins (again) and kinda made the sheilds a little better. Went and rode a place we call "The Widow Maker" after two runs down, the ones on the rightside were rubbing bad, real loud.I changed out and put rokets in back and the biltins left over up front. Went down two more times a little quicker, but the front right bearings went out again. So now all but two shields are wacked. Come on Chris, a little help here would be nice. Since this is 'Q & A with Chris Chaput' Forum
Thanks
Sean

Biltin bearing shields
On 11/9/2006 X wrote in from United States  (64.115.nnn.nnn)

Yeah mine did that too. I have 4 out of 8 abec5 Biltins were rubbing, and same with my abec7's. So now I have (4) abec5 in the rear, and (4) abec7 in the front cause I couldnt use the (8) bearings that are rubbing...P'd me off too!
I dont know why they did this, they were brand new...regardless, they handle the sideloads better than other bearings...so I'll keep em' for now.

Biltin bearing shields
On 10/30/2006 S.Smith wrote in from United States  (67.182.nnn.nnn)

Chris, about the biltin shields, Can I buy replacement shields or do i have to buy a new set of biltins? I've had this set since maryhill and rode them pretty hard since then. A couple of them are slightly bent towards the center and can hear them rubbing.I've tried to get them as straight as possible but still bent. Can I use shields off regular abec 7 bearings? what is your Prognosis? Been running rokin rons w/ swiss bones spacers in gumballs lately, crazy combo for sure. thanks

Board for Bakes
On 10/17/2006 Chris Chaput wrote in from United States  (66.116.nnn.nnn)

Bakes, I'd put either 75a Gumballs or 77a (Pink) BigZigs all around. I don't want my back end to drift, especially in a turn like Carnage Corner. I've learned to overcome the "sticky" nature of Gumballs in the turns, and so when I need the traction, it's there.

The Urethane Express
On 10/17/2006 J.Bakes wrote in from (24.207.nnn.nnn)

Chris,
Since watching you ride at db5 i have built a six wheel board. With a 1 1/4 dropped deck and a aditional 3/8 with a drop threw truck set up,black with a retro orange racing stripe and a mirror polished finish on the bottom. So far i have rocked it with six green 75a gumballs and it has handled like its on rails. What wheel combo would you suggest?I have bin leaning towards 4 pink gums in front and 76mm fly's in the back for smoother drifting in corners like carnage.Or do you believe six 76mm fly's will give me more speed?what trucks do you prefer?p.s If you have a set of those pinks on juice around id love to rock them on the Express[o]Ive got to try.KAMIKAZE LONGBOARDS.PEACE!

Bearings
On 10/11/2006 S.Smith wrote in from United States  (67.182.nnn.nnn)

Biltins are best for Abec 11's. When running krypto's and such, Rockin Rons are pretty fast, especially ceramics.I ran Maryhill this year and used Rockin Rons and Swiss bones. Next year will be abec 11 & Biltin for sure. Hope this helps

What is Everyone Really Using?
On 10/7/2006 David V. wrote in from United States  (69.92.nnn.nnn)

Gents, may I ask what bearings all you competitive downhillers are truly using? My son and I recently attended the Sandia All Around with the hopes of being able to talk to some of the racers regarding wheels, bearings, etc., but it just didn't happen. We are currently running Abec11's, Seismics or Kryptos depending on our mood, but our bearing knowledge is lacking> Thank you.

thanks, it does look like his front foot is a little left of the board's center which means that his back foot is a little right of center. i've been experimenting with my tuck and it's definetly getting more aero but it could be more solid/secure. hopefully i'll get it down before i'm AARP material ;)

tuck form
On 9/18/2006 dan@csu wrote in from United States  (70.56.nnn.nnn)

chris, i saw on your old webpage pics of your ideal tuck. both your feet were running pretty parallel to the board rather than across it. i've been having problems with this because one, i get wobs at speed if my FRONT foot is like that, and two, when you crouch down for tight turns it seems like you'd have to reposition your feet so you wouldn't slip off in a drift or slide. right now i'm working on stretching because the fact that i can't touch my toes is definetly making this harder on me! any thoughts would be great, thanks.
