I also saw video of your slides-AY! You really are not that good- AT ALL! AY! It looks like you were scared of falling when you were doing those slides. Your to slow and you pull out of your slides to slow. Not much style-AY! Some advice- pick up the pace(speed up), much potential though. I would give you respect if you could do huge/quick slides and pull outta them going (faster than you can run.) Your not good, you pull out of your slides(slower than you can walk.) Your slides are kinda cool, but its NOT BAD ASS!!! Dude, you couldn't keep up with me on 20% grade. You would wuss out. I would get bored skating with you- you would slow me up. Everybody remember,,,, downhill skateboarding is an extreme sport. IT IS MY PROFESSIONAL OPINION: There was only about 5 to 7 guys at the competition that I would consider PRO MATERIAL. Everyone else sucked and should be in another class- amatuer class. Next time I would like to ask CLIFF COLEMAN (much respect to the man)and other event organizers to think about having QUALIFING before the next event. Fubreeze, maybe this little conversation will modivate you to become pro. I am badass and my team is badass! We hit HUGE hills, fast, smooth and with style! Yeah…..

Speece Vertz & NYC Slide Comp?
On 1/16/2006 Sean C. wrote in from United States  (167.206.nnn.nnn)

Hey man, I say go for the vertz... I have no skoolz in 96a, and they are very nice... the only problem I have with my no skoolz is that they like to hold a line, but once broken free, they slide like ice... the vertz may be a solution to that... not sure... but go for it man!

F -
You HAVE to come down to NYC for the Central Park Race and maybe even help out with a slide comp... Psh, forget the slide comp... it would be fun just to have a big pack of sliders goin all over the place...

On 1/16/2006 F wrote in from Canada  (70.48.nnn.nnn)

...and Cliff is doin a lot to promote the sport, so cool down buddy. Aim at the Skate industry instead...they should be the one to blame.

Anyway. Already ive said too much and i know someone will give the s#@! back to me...

JUST RIDE!

Like my friend Michael Bruniman said: i practice to have fun doin it, and this, in slalom, pool riding and slide. I have not the pretention to say that i am better than this guy or this guy. But i have the soul, so its way enough for me to enjoy all kind of skating.

There you go.

Cant wait for th ground to be dry... i miss the riding.

...and remember: its FABRICE. no "s". And i am not pissed off at what you are sayin mate. Sliding is new in comps, so its kinda ormal that there is some f#@! up in the judging. Let the experience get to the poeple and well see in the future.

in my mind, there should be 2 categories: Skates and Longskates. Two different styles, not comparable. The longest slide contest should not exist, or at least should only be a fun thing to watch, not recordable for the final points.

Fabrise??
On 1/16/2006 "F" for Fabrice wrote in from Canada  (70.48.nnn.nnn)

WooOOOoooooOW! Im stocked. Badass Sqirley is sayin my name in one of his funny posts!

Ok. Here is the deal: "I have Fabrise longest slide on video. HE DID NOT PULL THAT SLIDE! He never turns his slide to face back down the hill and his feet even come off the board"

Ok. You say i didnt slide the whole lenght? I did not finished my run? Well, as i remember, i did. You say you saw it on the video? Well what i saw on the video did sucked, but hey, i dont think it was THAT run. If it was, well, f#@! it anyway. Still was longer than the other dudes.

I have to admit that for me sayin that "i won the longest slide contest" is like sayin that i was the first one to paddle to the break, and in my mind...well, who gives a f#@!???

I finished 5th in the slope style, with a REAL longboard (46 inches) and against good wicked riders with Sergio's style. I kept MY thing goin on, not pretending i was a West Coast Style rider. I got surprised, trust me, cause it was a skater world. How many where we to slide with a longboard...? Like, 4 or 5? f#@! it. Anyway, the combination of the two events made me finish second in the over all, and i am glad. Wanna know why? Cause i AINT NO SKATER with attitude, i only been LONGSKATING for 4 years yet, so pretty stocked on winnig against REAL skaters.

Real.

Pfff. When i read stuff like you write, it makes me remember how much it sucked when i was competiting in the Track and field back in the days. Pretentious arogant bastards, thats what it was. Mmmm. Classy!

Anyway.

Come to Montreal on the hills, with CURVES and STEEP hills, Well see who finishes first or dead last. I dont want any money at the end for nobody. I want you to say: we had fun and f#@! the comps! This aint no skate industry.

Take care i have to go outside by a -30 Celcius.

Fabrice aka "F",

Hello people-Yeah!!!!
On 1/16/2006 "Badass Sqirley" wrote in from United States  (24.24.nnn.nnn)

Down with the UK. USA for sure!!! Anyways loser, who are you? Last I checked your name wasn't on the list, or any list for that matter. You are not really good at skateboarding- AT ALL! Last I saw it looked like Cliff-POWER TO THE MAN-Coleman was sliding past me. I laughed, ha,ha,ha. No style, slow, and scared of falling. Your style looked a little like Coleman but taller and stupid. Dude, you suck! I have money, ALOT of money. Wanna race against BadAss Boarders Team? Get the USA's teabag off your chin and "LETS RACE!" and "LETS PUT MONEY ON THIS" The USA's not gonna rescue you this time. Dude, here's how it works, I got $10,000 dollars and "probally" can get another $10,000. I can get the media involved and several advertising companies but this sort of thing costs money. How much you got UK? "LETS DO THIS" on my turf- you asked loser. $10,000 minimum! We split any proceeds less winnings. What do you wanna make the winnings, what do you say $5000 first place. Anyways, about me. Yeah, my team has really been stoked-WE RIP! Were going give California a fat lip then teabag this Brit. Hey team- meeting at "The Hill". Team lessons offered afterward ONLY. Mandatory 2 hour discussion-BE THERE! Autographs, maybe. Killer beach party afterwards- show up for details. This is a real good opportunity for us all to really start to rip and make some serious money spanking everyone elses asses. THEY ALL GOT NO STYLE an SKATE LIKE THEY ARE SCARED. Badass Boards gave ya a fat lip! Coleman I will pay you to show up and skate one of my Badass Boards! Like 6 month contract. $10,000. Coleman- I DO NOT AGREE WITH YOUR UNFAIR JUDGING AT "SLIDEFEST". I have all of your judging on video and am over it! I have Fabrise longest slide on video. HE DID NOT PULL THAT SLIDE! He never turns his slide to face back down the hill and his feet even come off the board. You gotta see this! I have the video and audio for Cliff Colemans reaction and interaction with David Hacket about the Longest Slide judging. I must say, love ya man, but you did not judge good AT ALL! You are still "THE MAN" in my eyes though! Next contest I got a new slide, the "Death Box slide" This ones for you Hacket! Badass Boards Slalom team next season! We are recruiting new riders(were watching) keep winning! I gonna be getting these races going- gonna make series through CBS this fall. Looking for Slalom Competitor that can skate vert for commercial. Check my badass site out! Shout out to Scott in Nebraska, hey keep ripping-YOUR ON MY HEELS hahaha. Anyways, yeah! I am making new shirts for the team. We have numbers now. Sign up for you numbers now! Hey Coleman see you in APRIL.

Cliffs deck
On 1/15/2006 michael (octane) wrote in from United Kingdom  (87.115.nnn.nnn)

Glad to say we have some of Cliffs new deck on order, and will be with us shortly.

The slide clinics are great, I learnt a LOT and I'd reccomend it to any skater. Its not often you really spend a day concentrating on improving technique and the clinic is a great way to learn, have fun, and gain confidence. Its not just for newbies either!

NYC Central Park Race + East Coast Slide Clinic ?
On 1/15/2006 NYC Asphalt Surfer wrote in from United States  (70.19.nnn.nnn)

I strongly suspect that the turnout for this year's New York City Central Park Race is going to be quite large (75 to 100 participants). An official "Cliff Coleman Slide Clinic" would certainly be the highlight of the event and would certainly be something that I would pay $$$ money to attend...

Just curious as to when your PPS slide model will be on the PPS site or in stores in general. I saw awhile back that you had posted in the Vendor's Corner that it was coming out. Any pictures of it either?
Thanks man.

making your own slide gloves
On 1/13/2006 Erek Shaffer` wrote in from United States  (71.37.nnn.nnn)

I bought a map gas torch for thirty bucks at home depot. I cut the cutting board with a jig saw. Once you cut the board to the desired shapes for your gloves, use the torch to heat up one side. you will see black swirls form in the oooz. Make sure not to melt the pucks too much or you'll waist all of your sliding surface. Once this happens stick the glove on it and apply pressure. Non smooth leather gloves work the best. I use mec-tec work gloves. thin, leather gloves with a strap on the wrist. I have seen people use large gloves but i like the personal feal of a tight glove. I cut extra pucks out and take my supplys with me in my truck when I go skating, so I can make and sell slide gloves for my friends or any one intrested. the meterials cost me $12.00 and I sell them for $20.00. I uasualy sell 2 or 3 pairs a night. Makes for bar money after the skate.
hopes this makes it easier for you. Enjoy, Erek

F,

Try and plan your trip for the month of July. You want a chance at good weather! Last year Sergio and I hit it perfectly with about 9 consecutive days of great weather. I hope to go back this summer also. I have no plans yet, so keep me informed of when it is you might like to go. It would be cool to be there at the same time.

Cliff

PS I just got my visa, good for five years to Brazil. I leave in nine days and will be there a month.

plastic for slide gloves
On 1/13/2006 sc wrote in from United States  (65.91.nnn.nnn)

Most people use kitchen cutting boards, available everywhere. They work great for me, very easy to cut pieces from. Get 3/8" or thicker. If you want to go high tech you can buy UHMW plstic from mcmaster.com. I say go with the cutting boards. I buy mine at Ross for $4. As far as attaching to the gloves, you can melt one side (I use my gas stove) and attach directly to the glove. Let cool completely before using.
