bowl riding, freestyle, slalom, cross-country. downhill
Now it's longest grind, best trick, 360's, slalom, cross country & downhill. Throw in a high jump and high ollie and you have Sandia?

Steve O'Hara at Pioneer's Board shop in Hampton Beach, NH used to grill me with these sorts of trivia questions, and I loved it! I'll give it a whack, even though Gnar will probably be pissed as hell if I'm wrong:
I'm gonna guess some sort of bowl or pool riding, one. That's a given, I'd think. Probably slalom and freestyle, 'cuz that's what was at Del Mar, and those were pretty in vogue for the day- two and three. I'd guess some sort of downhill speedboarding setup (I remember those white leathers with the red arrow, there was a pic of him in Friedman's book doing some speed runs in it). And, Hack mentioned something in the Dogtown Movie about jumping barrels... or, maybe it was high-jumping? Jumping something, that'd be my #5. I'm goin' with barrels, just for s#@!s and giggles.

Glad to see you and Palmer here, it's been a while. You can't have Will, but you CAN send O'Shei again, I think he's your best All Arounder, he did well last time. Fadell told me he'd like to try it, but that he needs to work on his speedboarding skills. Sandia is repaved, fast and furious, and we've expanded the event to 3 days to give all of the flatlanders more of a chance to catch their breath between the 9 events. Dave, I know you know the answer to this, but let's see who else does: in 1978 TA was crowned Worlds Best Skateboarder based on what 5 events?
Palmer, you probably don't still have that $1000 from winning the Bear, but I DO still have your Trophy Paws. I'll get then to you soon.

Johnny Miller is the most BLR of all the BLR. He raced Hood on Sunday, qualified top of the B Class, then proceeded to puke twice between his semi-final runs, just before winning the B Class. Then, I quote (pretty closely) "I'm so tired, I want to just sleep. Are you going to the brewery? OK, I'm in."
Miller, YOU ROCK. CCMF!

Will BLR be sending any one to compete for the Worlds Best All Around Skater?
The 6th Sandia All Around Challenge will be held September 22nd – 24th, 2006. This event was featured in a recent issue of Concrete Wave magazine and has the highest exposure of the TSR 2006 Series because it is possible for spectators to see all 9 of the events that competitors are earning points in. Add that to riding the endless ditches of Albuquerque and you have plenty of riders and rippers making the weekend trip to explore this legendary event.
This year is expected to be the biggest All Around yet with defending champions Chris Chaput of ABEC 11, Will Brunson of TimeShip Racing and runners up Rob Palmer of Sector 9 and Ryan Ricker of TSR battling it out for the title of the Worlds' Best All Around Skateboarder. This requires competing in High Jump, Ollie High Jump, Longest Grind in the Combi Pool, 360's, Best Trick, Banked Slalom, 8.3 mile Cross Town Race, Downhill Race and a Slalom Race. 3 days, 9 events and a 3 board minimum, this is the All Around Challenge. In 1978 in Long Beach Ca, Tony Alva was crowned the World All Around Champion based on 5 events. In Albuquerque we have revived this tradition for the 6th consecutive year and we hope you will be able to come and represent. Sign up now on the contest calendar.
