Hey Guy, I just re-watched your part in Downhill Motion.
The strangest thing I am wondering for us younger riders is why the parallel stance? only way to keep the wobs away? did you experiment with other positions?
do you still skate? have you try randals, especially randal downhills?
anyways, wish I can go back in time and skate in the 70's.

Yup I was pretty close to correct. The rear wheels are Stoker wide's, the fronts are RSA-B-A90 Urathane Roller Sport. How's that for 32yrs ago?

This will blow your minds.
The first World Record board had drop bearings (single free ball)on Bennett Trucks. The wheels are pre-RoadRider wheels. I will have to check tonight to see what brand. They are hard urethane probably 93 D. Wide in the back and skinny in the front. It's too funny to look at them now and see the equipment that is being ridden today.
I'll look at those and post tonight when I get home.

After reading the Guinness rules for "stand Up" it looks like my first board is still legal, pretty interesting considering that was 32 years ago. where's my leathers and helmet Barb? it's time to go racing again!

Dave brings the luge out of mothballs and shows that a 40-something guy can still show the young-uns a thing or two about riding a luge.
Wraps up a nice run through Canada by John (also in the 40-club) and Dave.

JM, When you register with Guinness, they will send you a .pdf file with the guidelines for the record attempt. The only rule regarding equipment talks about the skateboard. Here is how it reads:
"3-The skateboard used should be entirely stock, that is, all components on it should be available from commercial retailers. Any modifications or additions to the board not in keeping with the spirit of this record will result in disqualification. Photographs of the board (taken from all angles) and detailed specifications must be provided."
Check this rule also:
"5-The person must be in the upright standing position at the time the highest speed reading is taken in order for the attempt to count."

I have nothing to do with the rules. There is not much to go by other than what I wrote above. The organizers have their own safety rules regarding what the riders will have to wear when riding the hill. I think leathers and a helmet are required. The streetluge rules are a bit more specific and include width and wheel limitations as well as limits on the fairings.
What are you gonna build? An Emma for downhill skateboarding?
