Small, friendly joint stocking skateboard gear only. Lit dimly, almost by candlelight. SMA longboards, Alva (long & short & 80's style pigs), Dogtown, Gullwing, 5 boro, Zoo york, Wounded Knee. Mostly new school wheel & truck selection but they always offer to order anything skate related. Their prices are the lowest I've seen in a shop in NYC on wheels & trucks.

We have the BEST prices on the SHOCKER TRUCKS which are blowing people away: longboard, standard and *slalom* sizes. We also offer a custom mod we put together with the people from Track Life (the company that manufactures the Shocker Trucks).

www.LatterDaySkates.com

Also, we are the ONLY place in the world you can get the Z-Roller longboard trucks with the precision-alloy axles that are a "true" 8mm. Don't bother looking at the "other" online stores, or at any skateshop. Z-Prod makes these puppies just for us.

Oh yeah: And our accountant is a babe. AND smart. :-)

Hey Marc,

Like I said before, I'm not trashing the shop or the dudes themselves, (I don't live in Alberta)--all I'm talking about is just my one individual's experience with the way they come off here and on their site. And your ISP shows you're a real fan and not just more bogus chump-style action like their last couple of "reviews" (Billy/ Chet/Ryan), so I respect that. Maybe they're genius, but at least the Gravity Sports guy has the taste not to generate more bad press for himself.

Again, I'm really just curious, where and how often must one go surfing to qualify as an avid surfer in Calgary? I know this is a bit off-topic, so delete this is if you want to, Webmaster A. Long live Sportmart.

yours truly,
Lighten up Honey

On 1/11/2002 Marc wrote in from (24.64.nnn.nnn)

I am going through the links on the RedNik site, so lets see what happens. I don't know what you guys are whining about.... Have you ever been to or talked to Billy or any of his staff at Red Nik Co. How can you judge something you have never experienced you wankers!!! Check it out and then state your STRONG opinions. RedNik and their staff is very knowledgable and the store has great atmosphere. I am an avid surfer and appreciate a place to hang out and get my gear without having to wait for an order. I also know tonnes of other surfers who use Billy's store. I think that fine line between clever and stupid is genious because I don't know anyone who has the courage to open a surf shop on the praries!!!

Cheers

I'm also just curious...

Who buys surfboards in Calgary? Skateboards? yes. Surfboards? I must say "eh?" For all you USians, that's like being a surfer in Missoula, Montana. Obviously it's folks who can afford to drive regularly to the West Coast of Vancouver Island or Western Washington State or whose daddy has two houses... but I just don't see how being a surfer in the prairies works. Does the West Edmonton mall have a wave maker I don't know about? Seeing as there are _very_ few surfers in Vancouver, it almost seems... kind of silly. Almost poseurish in a way, or possibly just close to insane, considering the water temps in B.C..

Mr. Barrett--

I did the same thing with the same results. To be fair, it seems that Billy's too thoughtful and can spell too well to be doing the chump-style slamming, though. Whatever. 'Nuff slams, more kicking out the jams.

research gravity sport
On 1/7/2002 Paul Barrett wrote in from (199.213.nnn.nnn)

ryan, whats the deal with calling the owner of reaserch gravity sport a wanker?? darren has done more for gravity sports in this city then anyone else. getting the word out and being ever helpful with any questions or problems. i think a bigger selling point on a store is a staff that knows what the hell they are talking about, and not that the staff is good eye candy. when darren set up the ride on the kicking horse road in golden i dont remember anyone from rednik being there. throw down with the board and not with your mouth.

cheers,
Paul
