I am not very good in english but I can say that purple skunk is a great shop. I've been there in october, it was the second time and it was fantastic. I can't find longboard equipment easily in France and when I saw stocks of purple skunk it was like a dream !!!
And above all, the staff is really nice and give time to the visitors.
Thank you purple skunk ,I hope to be able to come back to SF soon...

I just wanted to add to the great reviews for Purple Skunk Skate shop in SF. Although I am 3000 miles away, and usually place small and confusing orders, Patty and Lizzie treat me like an old friend and neighbor. They are all about customer service, something so sadly missing from almost every purchasing experience these days, especially on the net. They actually call you BACK.
They confirm orders and e-mail you when your package ships (almost always the same day, which can be a drag if you change your mind a lot like me). And if there's a problem they fix it, FAST. I really like them, and you will too.

APW,

if you're posting in this message board, i'm certain you've read up on the Purple Skunk skate shop in san francisco. they are well stocked in longboard equipment. those flashbacks shouldn't be a problem. and the folks there won't flake on you. check them out online (www.purpleskunk.com) or call them during their business hours. the number is on their site i believe...

as far as your $40 lesson, call your credit card company to reverse the charges.

I ordered Flashbacks from these guys on 9/20. The wheels never showed up. I emailed these guys in the meantime to try and find out what was going on. They charged me $6.95 for shipping and sent them General mail (San Deigo to LA). On 10/7 they said that insurance papers would be sent to me, which I still havent received. Since then I have emailed them and left them voice mails since they never answer the phone. I have received no response. My messages that I have sent them were polite until today.
If anybody orders stuff from these guys make sure they send it ups of fed ex. I have been completly blown off by these IDIOTS and learned a $40 dollor lesson.
If anyone has any advice for me I would appreciate it greatly.

Closest you get is Short board shops carrying a few LB's
Redwood City has Skate Works they have a few LB's Gravity, Libtec and a few others.
San Mateo has two sk8 shops right now Short boards only.
Burlingame use to have a sk8 shop CTI sports they carried a few LB's Dregs, Sector 9 and a few others. But there closed now for remodel.........I think. There is also a shop in Milbrae they might carry a few but I don't think so. Go to the Skunk there still close and got it all!!

The Skunk
On 10/13/2003 Mickey_D100 wrote in from (128.12.nnn.nnn)

Hey guys . . . and ladies. I haven't posted in here in probably excess of three years, but still stop by occasionally. I just had to give a big fat thumbs up to Purple Skunk. I always heard about P.S. in S.F. back in 99 and 2000 when I was here, but being in San Diego, I wasn't able to ever get to it. Well, now I'm living in the area, and was up on Treasure Island this weekend, so I figured I'd make the trip over.

I called several times through the drive there because Patty gave me bad directions :), but finally I had everything squared away. Due to traffic, I was cutting it really close, but with five minutes before closing, I rolled by, and saw Eli closing up shop, locking the bars. I couldn't find a damn parking spot for another ten or fifteen minutes. I finally did, and rolled up to the dark store, and peeked inside. Nobody that I saw, but a light was on.

I called one more time, and luckily Eli picked up the phone, even though neither Patty nor Eli probably wanted to because they knew it was gonna be me. But I told Eli that I knew what I wanted to look at, so he went ahead and let me in the store, not knowing that I was looking to buy at all. I came in there, looked around a bit, and told him I was looking to replace my old Landyachtz RIII proto that was stolen several months before. We three had a great conversation, and they both stayed MUCH later than closing time (approx. 45 minutes that I was there), set my board up, and got me on my way.

That experience literally made my weekend. I was so pissed that I missed the hours, and to have them hook me up like that was above and beyond. Awesome service, great people, and happy customers make a great experience all around. Thank you Purple Skunk. Had my first good session with the new baby today, and she's wonderful. I'm sorry this is so long, but I'm still just so amped by the whole time, and have to share. :)

Great place! This shop has been in the same location since 1976. They carry an impressive selection of old school and new school skate stuff, along with surfboards, skimboards, snowboardin' stuff and inline skates.

This is the only place I have seen No Skoolz, Bulldog, Alva, Z Flex, and other old school style equipment under one roof. Mike, who works there, is terrific and is clearly about the soul of skating.

This shop is the real deal. Give 'em a jingle at 425-255-1874.

I visted a cool surf/long skate shop in Calgary, Canada called Red Nik Surf Co. The staff was amazingly knowledgable and consisted of three cool girls and one old dude who really knew their 'boards'. I would recommend if anyone is every in Western Canada, check out this funky little boutique Surf Shop. Thanks, Kyla, Tab and Amanda, I am really enjoying my Tahoe 52.

Bozi Boards shop review...
On 9/27/2003 Eric wrote in from (4.35.nnn.nnn)

I'm not a shop owner but just wanted to let everyone know that Jeff at Bozi boards is a cool guy and will go out of his way to hook you up. The first reason I ordererd from him is because he is only a state away. The hurricane hit his shop and he had no power for a while but that didn't stop him from getting the product to me for an upcoming session that PA Dan and I are planning for Sunday/Monday. Order from Jeff Bozi at Boziboards.com and he'll treat you as a customer should be.
