Unless of course I think of something else to say, then I'll say it, right here on the CSA forum. OK, I guess that's about it. Really. Um. Yeah, I guess that's it. OK, so like, Later-Paul

Cool! That hill is just a staple of CSA races, it's just not quite a "real" race season without racing Ridgefield. That's all I have to say on the matter.-P

Yeh but is it "gnar" enough for "real" slalom?
WSU on Sunday? I am down to give it a go. 360-991-3307 since I will not be back on internet till Monday.

The hill is a go. I checked it out on Sunday. There is some new construction in the form of an office building at the entrance but we dont race there.

Training, Ridgefield and Seaside
On 4/6/2006 Dave wrote in from United States  (69.30.nnn.nnn)

Paul, training sounds good. Pick a day, or days, and I'll be there.

The city of Ridgefield finally got back to me, we have the road. I haven't had a chance to eyeball the road yet, hopefully this weekend. Or if one of the Vantuckey racers has a chance.....

Seaside sounds great Pat.

IF it's not a bust or a problem, doing some practice at the Ridgefield site would be even better since having pavement and a crown closer to the Hood River downtown site would be better to train our slalom cerebellums. Just a thought. -Paul

Hood River Training Session(s)
On 4/5/2006 Paul Howard wrote in from United States  (64.5.nnn.nnn)

Hey, I'd like to have some get togethers with some REALLY HARD tight hybrid courses to get us all ready for Hood River along the idea of my "Dude, Your Dad's a Martian" race last year. That way, Hood River will feel slack. It sounds like we have enough race ideas already so I don't want to turn this into a race(unless some event doesn't happen we can use it as a backup plan). I'll be practicing for it in Corvallis but if people want to do something in Salem or WSU(better due to the less than optimal pavement) I'd be into setting some Dunn/Gilmor courses. I think for any of us to podium at Hood, we should practice on courses we CAN'T run clean, if we can, we need to make it harder until we start hittng cones again. As long as it's not a real race, we can focus more on technique, sloshing around bad offset cones in control, etc so we won't have any surprizes. Maybe it's just me, but since Hood River is my personal "Homecoming" race (in 2002 it was the first slalom I'd done in 20+ years), I want to train for it a little more than any other race.

I just broke 2 ribs 10 days ago(falling off my bike), so I won't be hammering any hard courses in the next 2 or more weeks, gotta let those ribs heal right.

Adios-Paul

What do you think about?
On 4/2/2006 Pat Chewning wrote in from United States  (67.189.nnn.nnn)

Tell me what you think about:

August or Sept contest.

Seaside Oregon.

Events:
1) 1.5 mile pumping race on the boardwalk (flat, concrete). Rules: No pushing after start, just pumping.

2) Slalom race down the main street of Seaside, right in front of all the shops. Start at the "Turnaround" (famous landmark right at end of Broadway street).

See pictures here:
http://www.shopseaside.com/sstour.html

3) Big party at Casa Chewning in Seaside.

This is just a wild idea right now, but I want to find out the level of interest

Conflict on dates
On 3/31/2006 Pat Chewning wrote in from United States  (67.189.nnn.nnn)

This is a common theme as we add more contests each year. We have a limited resource (weekends in dry weather), and more and more contests competing for those weekends. Conflicts are inevitable. I see it as a positive sign of growth....

Probably the best way to avoid more of this in the future will be to get those contests onto the NCDSA calendar as soon as a date is decided....

Like Hood River on July 8-9 -- not on the calendar.
Like Danger Bay -- not on the calendar.
Like Buckeye Open -- not on the calendar.
-- etc.

"Contest Calender" Postings
On 3/25/2006 Pauliwog wrote in from United States  (64.5.nnn.nnn)

Hey, I agree with Pat, after all the talk about "getting organized THIS year" and posting stuff and having a race schedule, we really need to post everything on the contest calender way in advance if we want people out of our area to come to our races, or have peaple IN our area know about it for that matter.

It's better to get something up on the Contest Calender early where peaple see it and post on the signup page that things might change and change them later if needed. That way everyone can make some sort of plans in their mind at least.

If anyone needs help getting contest codes, then email me and I'll get a bunch from Adam and send you your own "special secret race code". I'll be out of town March 26th-30th. Email me today if you want me to email Adam to get codes so I can get them to you when I get back.

Use the NCDSA calendar please.
On 3/25/2006 Pat Chewning wrote in from United States  (67.189.nnn.nnn)

I would like to encourage all of the race organizers to use the NCDSA calendar for your races. This makes it much easier to plan activities...

Listing is free, if your event does not have an entry fee. If you event does have an entry fee, then the cost is a mere $20 ....

Go to the Contest Calendar, at the bottom is a link for you to email Adam (webmaster at NCDSA) to get a code for your race. Then you can enter the info.
It can be as simple as a date and a short description of the race. You can edit and update as more information becomes available.

More info on State Games of Oregon
On 3/23/2006 Pat Chewning wrote in from United States  (67.189.nnn.nnn)

Choice of date: I did not choose the date. The "official" date of the State Games of Oregon (SGO) is July 8-9 (Same as Hood River). The SGO has events on other dates because the co-organizers have conflicts on July 8. I offered up 3 other dates as possibilites and the SGO chose the June 24-25 date. We wanted to avoid Father's Day weekend and the 4th of July weekend. SGO wanted a date as close to July 8-9, but not after July 8-9....

Eligibility: Amateurs only. Residents of Oregon or an adjacent state without a skateboard race in that state's State Games. This would include CA, WA, ID, NV.

See the contest calendar...
