Will you pump or push your deck? Pushing a flexdeck takes a lot of energy, because it is always nodding up and down. Some guys like the flex for carving, but I don't like the flabby steering response. And I don't think that there will be huge difference unless your roard conditions are verry bad. (The knee has to balance the wobblyness of a flexdeck. Don't know - I had a angry meniscus once due to to soft running shoes.) If you will push more, think about a dropped, hard deck. It will stress your knee less than a high one. Randal style trucks ride smoother than conventional trucks and be shure to pick some soft wheels like 78 A.

Having bad knees I was wondering what type of board would work better for me? A board with medium flex and 3/4 camber or a stiff board. My way of thinking is a board that is flexible would take the strain off my knees. I weigh about 215lbs. Eddy Texas Outlaws.

After 100 miles of skogging in the last week and bombing a few 30mph hills, I have to say, the change of pace has been nice.
Looking forward to getting the Pump House stoke tomorrow with Lynn and crew.
I like the length for bombing hills with the radpad set up and tracker trucks. The wheels harder than front than back make sense :D
For me, the highspeed turns are turning me on. Nice stability yet so maneuverable thanks to the design of that sexy sk8king deck!!!!!
Thanks Richy!!! I'm on something sweeeeeeet :P

Hey Eddybroski! Here's my limited knowledge of my guess as to the design of the Lowlander: I think(?) ScottyBobSonic took my two signature shapes of the Pauliwog and the Scout and fused them and added a smidge of Josh Burt's narrower nose from the RIP and put them all together into a 32" deck and made it a smidge wider than the other 3 aforementioned decks. I bet it will lend itself best to everything bigger than tight slalom, but I bet at the shortest wheelbase(Is it 19" shortest wb?) it will likely do well for tight slalom for a big board.
I do not have one of these Lowlander decks nor have I seen one first hand but I know I really REALLY like both of the decks I've been racing on the last 2 years, and it's closer to my Scout than my Pauliwog. I really like the combination of concave and wheelwells which has completely gotten rid of wheelbite, especially with a 10-15degree pos wedge on the front truck. I use my Pauliwog for Tight and Tight Hybrid, and I use the Scout for Big Hybrid and Giant and Super G courses. I don't know if this answers anything for you or not, Good luck with it and thanks for getting some of the Subsonic Stoke! - Paul

OK Pablo all this talk about Subsonic boards has peaked my curiousity. I ordered one from Mark at www.milehighskates.com. Can you fill me in on any info on this board. I love the wheel wells and the color of the board, plus it has concave. Any info would be appreciated. Your Amigo Eddy Texas Outlaws.

Hmmm, interesting what you said about wheel well placement because with mine, I know my wheel wells definately cover the front wheels in the "inner"-most holes so I'll have to look at mine to see if they look different than yours.
How tight are the cone spacings that you're setting on your courses with a 17" wheel base? I know I can do 5' cone to cone with a pos wedged RT-X front and a neg wedged Splitfire rear with a 19" wheel base, and I do 4' cone to cone flat courses with a Radikal front and a TTC rear. Just Curious what kind of courses you're riding.

Right there with you on the tail wedge, this one was on the deck when i got it, i've been toying with the 45 degree thing, i even tried to press a deckwith a tail that turned out like that, it would have been perfect if it had not been overall too twisty (just not enough wood for my frame).
I have never gone on to use fibreglass as i make all my decks in my sisters garage and it is joined to the house, so i only use low odour products. Anyway thats why i thought i'd give it a go, i was hoping it would be lighter that the all wood boards i have made, but it turned out to be very similar.
This is what i ended up with, the trucks are 17" iside the bolt holes, so pretty much the same as your setup, the only thing i will say about the pauliwog 30 is that setting it up as you suggest means the front wheel wells are no use at all, if they had continued another inch toward the back i think thats how i would have set it up.
Like i've said, i've not riden it much so at the moment i find it alot of board, although mine is only an inch shorter and is actually wider, but yes the multi holes will let me try loads of setups and it will take more punishment than my own creations.
I like it and its a make that few have seen over here, so let them know i'm spreading the word.

Munchh's Pauliwog Deck

Hey Munchh, I guess I don't know the history on that particular deck. Definately play around with the different truck placements. I drilled all of my decks with extra holes between the holes that are already on the deck so I can really fine-tune the ride.
I generally use it for tight and tight hybrid with a 19" wheelbase with the front trucks mounted in the set of holes closest to the middle of the deck(furthest from the nose) and the back truck mounted right on the middle set of rear hole(one "notch" closer to the tail than you have in the picture). That works best for me, but everyone's different so see what you like.
I also use a PPS foam wedge kicktail but I put it on canted 45 degrees(so that the slope-line runs more in line with my rear foot, the bottom of the wedge is perpendicular to the line of my rear foot, ??Make sense?? or more confused?) rather than straight across. Some people (like me) like it canted better, some people like it straight across like a regular kictail.
Glad you like it. It's been the most functional tight and tight hybrid deck I've ever used and the only one I've used in competition for more than one season, it's now getting it's second year of competition and going on strong. I'm WAY WAY stoked about getting my decks from Scott Moore at Subsonic. Anyhow, Gotta Go, Adios-Paul

Hmmm, this is it, i liked the look of it as it is similar in build to my own, i've not had a chance to set it up properly or ride it, but i will, it will be a good GS deck for me i hope, nice work man.

Thanks again for posting the picture! Just for everyone's knowledge, what appears to be a warped deck is in fact a very straight concave noncambered deck with a CANTED kicktail put on with some PPS foam wedge material and angled for left foot forward riders. I find the self adhesive on the wedge kits lacking sometimes so I put the wedges on with contact cement so they stay put better. Adios- Paul
