Chicken nice work on the KHPPS Model. Will run it on Friday. The board is 29 inches long. Blue. The gun design kicks ass. Hats off to KH and PPS for putting out a great looking board. Will post a review on Friday on how she handles. Clear grip. Radikals, 3DMS, Manx, Abec 11, Eds Pleasure Tool Bearings. Boy Howdy I tell you what, the flex is perfect!!!! Get the Kebbek Caften - the best out of the three you listed.
Incredibly functional, best concave, incredible manufacturing quality and race proven.
Just my 2 cents

Does anyone know the wheelbase of the new s9 Burst bamboo deck? Also, are there any retailers that sell just the deck so that I don't have to pay for the poor component choices that s9 made for the factory completes??

Billy, check out Faltown Skateboards Click here for link. Their decks are slide oriented, so something similar to their 40" bomb might be the sort of thing you're after.
It's certainly worth checking out their site for the 'Slide Skool' section alone.

If you're looking for a deck to slide a lot on, I'd suggest concave but no camber. Anything else is personal taste. My personal taste as of late are Comet decks, very nice indeed.

Here are photos of the mark II protoype Roadster.
It features more concave, flared wheel arches and a carbon look, but is already being improved to have more concave, a smoother foam transition and more agressive styling!
The next improved Mark III board has just been completed in the Pavel workshop.
This board is like any fast sports car; lightweight, perfectly balanced and lots of rear wheel drive power from the wedged tail.
Note the metal Roadster badge near the rear truck.
This photo shows the wedge tail and concave spoon nose.
Here a rear view shows off the dewedged rear truck (and more nice graphics)
See www.pavel-skates.com for more info Click here for link

Adam:
Before you go wasting big dollars on a longboard, please be aware that there are better shops in Toronto than Hogtown. They used to be a good shop, but now their knowledge is limited and their stock of good longboarding equipment is poor.
A number of suggestions:
Check the Ontario Longborders site (ontskate.proboards38.com) there you will find good recommendations. Check shops like Full Tilt and McPhails before spending your hard-earned dollars Check Canadian board manufacturers (www.kebbek.com/www.motionlongboards.com/www.landyachtz.com) and see what they are offering - most can set-up a complete for you.
If you want to e-mail me directly - I would be happy to assist you
All the best,
Rob

Rayne Blunt Model Review

I went to Purple Skunk for another Comet, but ended up with a Rayne Blunt Model. I tried just about every 34" -38" inch demo board in the shop that had a kicktail. The Rayne Blunt felt the best, which was kind of unfortunate because it cost $100 bucks(!). But by that time I had alread fallen in love with it, and I needed a deck while I wait for my Skaterbuilt JaySmith2 to come in.
At Skunk they had it setup with Randalls and it felt pretty good, but I've had real bad luck with Randalls and kingpin breakage in the past so... I setup the deck with Seismic 150's, quickturns in front AND back (but in back I use the medium green springs, stock yellows in front). I only needed 1/8 inch rubber risers on this deck. Nice and low, but the kicktail is steep enough that I have plenty of leverage for kickturns.
Rayne advertises this model as a hybrid carver/bowl board. I sessioned Park Blvd in SF's Presidio on it... its a good downhill slider (I dont go too fast- maybe 35mph MAX, but usually lower speeds).
Haven't tried it a park or pool yet on account of only recently getting off the injured list. Well I tried it in the Derby Bowl in Santaq Cruz but that's jsut a big birdbath.
Going to take it to the skatepark (calling it a skatepark is a stretch- lets call it a pool) by the SF Cow Palace as soon as it dries out.
Anyway, nice board but expensive (prolly due to weak dollar?)... stats:
Length: 34" (86.4cm) Width: 9" (22.9cm) Wheelbase: 22.5" (57cm) Construction: 7 ply Canadian Maple Light Concave Centered Camber

Rick Howell him self made this board and I have had it sence I bought in 1977 at the Pipe Line skatepark and yes you could own a Rare Rare peace of skateboard history. The board was ridden two times and is just the deck no major dings with a kool blue ICK DECK on top with no chipage and the Baldands logo on the bottem. If you collect e-mail me this board is for the Major collector if you get my drift it needs a new home and someone that will take care of it,And I mean it!.Pass it down the family tree becouse this board has the history already.Mike G Virginia.

I am 41 and grew up riding skateboards in San Francisco. I was 12 then. (Not the flat parts) I just went to All Boards in Boulder Colorado near where I now live. I just purchased this awesome ride. It a 46.5" Wicked OTS Cut Out long board. Exkate trucks. Ninja ABEC 7 bearings., ABEC11 Gripper wheels. Its a sweet ride. I get home from work now and have to pump up and down my block lusting for a new weekend to bust some mounds. Its all about starting the decade towards your mid life crisis on the best foot. (left)
