Yeah if you read my inital post from the 23rd youll see that i really have no idea as to what its like in the broad scheme of things, but i like it alot, and you can get pretty close to horizontal, but the trucks are so spoungey that you dont even have to. So i like it alot, i bought it from a shop (because i have contacts, and got a reduced price there) but it says your from france, so i dont know, good luck finding one. I like it alot, the wheels are absoloutly awsome, completly slalom wheels, tahts not to say theyre not great for carving and the like also. Feel freee to post another post if you have any specific questions for the Hydra.

Have any of you ridden the Sector 9 bamboo Zen or Pin boards? I just want a board for some easy cruisin' and am wondering what has a better feel, rides faster, and can take curves better. Any response on either board would be great. ~Aloha~

Drop-thru Bozi MB-II

I converted my Buddha MB-II to drop thru with great sucess. I took photos of the details last night and will try to post them later when I have more time. I have taken this board to some serious speeds and its rock solid so dont worry about weakening the deck. In fact this deck has more meat around the trucks than my "factory" BigRedX speedboard does. I used an 1 1/16" hole saw to drill two holes and a jig saw to remove the remaining center then a hand file to finish the mod. I have Randal 180's curently and 1/4" risers strips to lower it further. Its a blast!

i've taken a jigsaw to a couple of regular pintailish decks to drop them, and my advice would be to NOT do it because the strength and integrity of the decks become marginalized. modding a factory deck will change it's flex and stiffness, and it will become torsionally unstable. especially if you're using it as a speedboard, i think you'd do better to buy a factory one or make your own from the ground up. but messing arond is fun as long as you don't mind to much if the deck ends up worthless.

In my last conversation with Jeff of Bozi he told me he was taking a break from building boards due to a job change and other life stuff going on.
If you are looking for a Mad Bomber II, I know where you can get one that is almost new. Drop me your email and I can get it into the hands of the dude that has it.
Interesting seeing your post because I was getting ready to ask a question:
How hard would it be to take a Mad Bomber II deck and convert it into a drop thru deck (cut out the drop through in the front and back)? I love that deck but would totally be stoked if I could drop it as low as my Big Red X.
Any thoughts out there from the DECK EXPerts?

IDEAS FOR NEW BOARDS?

I'd like to see 'Street' sized decks and slightly bigger (33x8.5 or 33x9) boards for us older guys with a subtle redesign. First, make them completely symetrical (I know Element and others have tried this recently) but more importantly, make the nose/tail slope start 3/4" or so further out from the trucks. This would
1. Mean that your foot on the tail/nose was slightly lower, what's the point of running a board as low as possible (without wheelbite) then starting the ramp of the tail as close to the bolts as possible lifts your foot higher than it has to be.
2. The concave would get slightly closer to the ends of the board, ensuring that the wheelbite point was on the concave section, thereby eliminating a few mm of riser.
The board should also include wheelwells, other than that it should be a basic popsicle shape.
I reckon street skaters would apreciate being able to run larger wheels (street wheels are getting bigger aren't they?) on low trucks without risers while riders of the bigger boards would appreciate being able to run their normal loose trucks and big wheels with less riser than before. The redesigned nose/tail also adding further to the lower-without-risk-of-wheelbite feel.
Or maybe i'm the only one who'd be interested...

As far as I know, Bozi Boards are not being produced anymore, and I am unaware of anyplace you can find them for sale still. Your best bet is to get one second hand from one of the Buy/Sell/Trade forums on the various websites. Good luck.

Sector 9 Set up

I recently purchased a Sector 9 Hydra deck, complete with gullwing sidewinder 2 trucks and ‘Ghost / 75a’ 69mm x 53mm Nineball Slalom Wheels. I have been thoroughly impressed by the board and have had stacks of fun on it. The wheels stick like nothing else, the trucks let me carve like an absolute bitch, and the board is so lite it almost makes up for the ridiculously heavy trucks, and is flexible as all hell. I must state that this is my first long board or carve board purchase, so whilst I have ridden one or two of my friends boards, I really have no idea what it is like in the broad scheme of things. Everyone seems to love those Exkate trucks, are they actually better? Just wondering if anyone had any opinions on the board? p.s. you can see the set up at http://www.sector9.com/2006/

Trevor, I would like to see a company make Hover Boards that float on a cushion of air, in case you're making those, I'll buy one. In starting up your new biz you might want to steer clear of ALL CAPS, its hard to take people seriously who seem to sound hard of hearing whenever they type. Just make the type of board you like to ride the most to start with, that way your customers would know that its been heavily road-tested and the design was given some thought. Good luck.

I have a question about the Comet Voodoo. The newer model is vertically laminated bamboo, full length carbon fiber, 38 inches long. The older model was 40 inches long. Was the older model also vertically laminated bamboo? The older model has a voodoo head on it, the newer model does not.
Thanks for any information or any comments from those who have the old one and the new one.

Fitz, if you're looking for a sweet carving / pumping deck with carbon fiber snappy-flex goodness, you might check out my Roe LDP, it used to be a custom and with some efficiency mods, its now part of the Roe PS lineup. About 5 lbs total, 8/9-ply including the tri-glass, birch, and CF on the bottom. I've reviewed it here as it suits flatland pumping, and now doing more downhill testing with Randals and Holeys. Be cool to hear your impressions or questions about it! -jp

Fitz, I could get a drop through race deck through the course too. Just you aint gonna be pumping and double pumping like I was. I was accellerating the whole time on a flat course.
Guess you had to be there.
BTW Insect do downhill decks too. Horses For Courses.

to anyone looking for a new deck. the evil crow from scarecrow is sweet. its 33 by i believe 8.75. its a relly sweet deck and has a pretty good feel. the nose is bigger then the tail, allows for a good hold on your front foot. has good pop and feels pretty much like a chunkier street deck. highly recommended

I think my 7-ply Big Bug is about 6-7 lbs. It's not as light as an ultra-thin Loaded, but it isn't a beast like Landyatchz race boards which have like 9 or 11-ply (layers) of wood. Insect used Baltic birch, which is reasonably light, but again not like the bamboo of a Loaded. It isn't ultra-light... but it isn't much heavier than my 36" PPS Hammerhead.
Hope that helps
