Messed up a slide at around 30mph, got pitched foward. Sailed for about 5-10 feet. Landed hard on my left knee, Harbinger pad didn't budge. It took massive damage. Rough pavement left deep, deep gouges in the plastic and tore away much of the fabric. I woulda had to have knee surgery for sure, and instead I got up and walked away whooping and laughing and took another run. Gonna get me a replacement set. I don't know of any moto x helmets with visors either, but a visor could be made!? I know that a couple of guys take assitate (thin clear plastic used for over-head projectors) and laminate that to make it thicker and then tape that onto their helmets. If you remove the peak on a Moto X helmet you do get the upwards vision you need for standup. I was lucky enough to buy a helmet cheap as they had lost the 'peak'. Works fine for me with a set of goggles. I use a different (snowmobileing helmet) for luge racing where I need a downwrds view. Putting the wrong helmet on is scary..... I think Tom used the word Visor instead of Peak as a minor slip up. I havent seen many moto x hemets with full face visors.     Rate post 194900 ! It wouldn't work for stand-up but it is super light. My point is that there are extremely light quality helmets on the market, unfortunately they are expensive, but then you have to ask yourself how important is your head to you - what is your head worth. But weight isn't really an issue. The helmets that the superbike riders are wearing are as light as a feather and are designed to have a bigger window (unlike my helmet which has a small window as it is for car racing) These are your quality helmets. If anyone wants to research these helmets abit, I suggest you look at these brands: Arai, Shoei, Shark or AGV     Rate post 194897 ! Best-Of Ncdsa (0)   Informative (0)   Abuse(0)   Flag Moderators (0) MotoX On 12/17/2004 Tom wrote in from United Kingdom  (81.156.nnn.nnn) My MotoX helmet is made by a company called fly, it has a removable peak so it helps with visibility, I don't know whether this is a common feature or not, for speedboarding it would be useless if you had the visor on, some of the other makes are pretty light, I've seen a few that claim to be 1100g, an icaro is 600g odd I think, so its still a lot heavier than that but compared to some of the road helmets its much lighter. As for where to get them from, I'm not too sure, I got mine from a bikeshop near me, I guess your best bet is to go to your local shop and see what they have     Rate post 194572 ! A Moto X helmet has a fixed peak where as a street bike helmet (a normal full face helmet, much like what lugers use) would be more appropriate. Todays helmets are designed to reduce lag. But don't let these Indy car style helmets confuse you with their little wings and lips. Those extra pieces aren't for aero-dynamics, they are designed for open top race cars and are designed to prevent the drivers head buffeting around - they stabilise the drivers head at speeds of about 200km/h plus! I have done some research on helmets and know more than the average person, however I wouldn't consider myself the guru of helmets or anything.     Rate post 194541 ! I also have the 4 flight which seems a little harder but still im not going to use it again,too dangerous.I think these won´t be legal to race next year anyway.Only motorcycle helmets are designed to absorb crashes on the street.
