Last year i got back into Skateboarding after 30+yrs. I went to slalomskateboarding.com and asked the unseal question- where can i get my products.I was told to get my pads and protective gear from Wild Ball at Pro-design. I emailed WB and starting asking question,we DIDN'T use pad in the 70's when i skated,we didn't have the extra money. Bill asked me what i was doing use the pads for,I told him Slalom. He said in his PROFESSIONAL OPINION I should try the(WRIST GARDS,THESE KNEE&ELBOW PADS)i ORDERED the pads he recamended seeing he has been taking care of skaters for yrs,i think he said 30yrs but don't quote on that. Anyway Ive been riding with these pads and they ARE GREAT!!! now i know thats just my option but its simple as this ,just look at what the pro's & other skaters are wearing & ask them how they like thrie gear,you guessed it PRO-DESIGN. over on slalomskateboarding.com have alot of posts saying how PD has saved their ass and THEY STAY ON & don't slide off your body-parts IE knees,elbows. If you only buy 1 thing from PD get the WRIST PADS they will save you from wrist injury and we all know that it the first thing we do is put out your hands to stop. There was a big slalom event in Paris and if you look at the pictures you WILL PD pad on MOSTLY every rider. I don't work for PD in anyway but i like to shair any info i can,just like everyone did with me, get the pad they rock O and WildBill can custom make,color or size to fit your needs. OK I'm long winded but hay its good stuff and after i finish this post I'm calling bill for some wristpade for my wife she learning and i don't want to skate W/O my guards

I was wondering if it was cool to use a Pro-Tec BMX helmet because my friend owns a BMX shop. It would be the signature series www.pro-tec.net/bike Should I get it go to a skate some and get a skate helmet?

Anyone know of a shop that'll send PD's over here to the UK? I've tried Bill's 'site, but it's seems the only way he can do foreign orders is really expensive. Is there a store anywhere that'll take 'phone or on-line orders?

Triple eight makes some really good Gloves. They one called Hired Hands. The only thing is it doesn't have full fingers just 3 1/3 length fingers.

Switchblades (full face well ventilated helmet) will be back. They will not be in our catalog but we had such a high demand for them and retailers still want them that they will be available. No date when but they are not gone for good like I had been told.

I have been looking all over the internet for a source for gloves suitable for aggressive longboarding. I am not sure if I want sliding gloves. Just some heavy duty gloves with good palms and finger protection. Any suggestions gang?

I used to use Rector Fatboys. A much better pad can be made to your specs by Bill at ProDesigned. He can make a set of knee pads with as much or as little padding as you need. He also can set up differnet types of straps. Call him and he can hook you up with the best pads. His link is on the left.

Anyone hear used or tried on both of these models? Even better if someone could compare them to Rector Fatboys? I like the neoprene feature on the top leg of the park model but was wondering if there's at least as much padding my Fatboys. I had some Bonless slip-ons in the early 90s but I remember them being huge square pillows, really comfy but I think I'd want something smaller, also the reason I'm considering the Parks over the Pros. I'll be using them strictly for 6'-8' concrete bowls. Thanks.

Nicnoyd: The safety jacket is worth every cent. I've only wrecked in it once but I didn't even get bruising or anything. I would also recommend Fox's articulated knee pads if you want a full concealed pad package. These are the $50 pads, not the crappy $15 pads.

JD, when you say the Prodesigned pads are bulky you have to remeber you can have them made how you want....for example I use the really thick padded ones for pool skating...for slalom and street I use the 1/2 foam ones. ProDesigned can make'em to order. I have no problem with the rounder cap shape at all.

IPath makes some KILLER hi-tops, called the Bigfoot. They are padded around the ankle, made of suede, leather or hemp canvas, and the sole is very grippy and has a lot of board feel. They fight back against ankle roll and snake bite. I love 'em, they are my favorite skate shoes ever.
I heard they may be discontinuing them, but I believe they are available on their website, www.ipath.com

thanks for the input on Nike. I looked around the web and found Nike is making a hi top based on their Dunk basket ball shoe. They are marketing it for skate boarding with a SB designation. They look pretty good but could find a good price ($80-$90). I'm going to try a pair of the Savier Fultons which look very similar to the Nike Dunk. CCS is having a sale on the Saviers for $55. By the time the Saviers fall apart maybe the Nike price will come down.

The Triple eight pads are pretty inexpenceive & are built very good. The caps are much flatter then most of the other pads out there so the cap will last much longer and there's more stabilty when you slide. Also the backing is made out of lycra instead of neopryne, so it's a lot more breathable and does not bunch up when you pend your knee's. I think the cap on the Pro Designs are to rounded so when you land you really have no stabilety and there really bulky.

What Pads do you guys use going downhill?? I got TSG pads, and yesterday my Elbow Pad slipped on me,because I was bailing on some rough Concrete...NICE ROAD PIZZA!
After that I tightend them up as far as I could,but that wouldn´t allow for blood circulation anymore!!!hAHA
so I am curious what you guys use when the pads should stay where they should be! Heard good things about Smith Scabs,but most people review em from the
"vert" point of view...I can have my pads on looose on vert and they never slip - but on f#@!in concrete - swussh -
Also, when falling forward and sliding,the caps at the tip of the elbow don´t make sense at all, so i had to wear em kind of twisted - well it works then, but it´s f#@!in uncomfortable - aren´t there pads designed better than the average ones...?
Another thing, slide Gloves are the s#@! - never leave home without em!
BUT yesterday I found out that thebigger the puck of plastic,the better...
Mine are covered at the palms only, and the fingers are thrashed after 1(!)
