Anyone ever run Jim Z hangers on Crail baseplates? Let me know. Also, what are some good bushing choices for Crails? Do the Jim Z stims work good? Khiro Bitch bushings?

Rad vs. Gus - unfair comparison

Adam, it's not fair to compare Radikal & Gus. The similarity of the ball pivot is only superficial. The geometry is totally different. Gus has a geometry somewhere between a Bennett and an RTS. The Radikal is better in every way for slalom, more fluid, more predictable, effortless accuracy that translates into more drive. The Gus is still a nice truck, although I never trusted the little pivot stud. I had a Gus with an 8mm axle conversion, better bushings, etc. and I did ride it for a while. I tried, but it just didn't work for me through upteen variations of bushings, wedges and wheels. Then I put a real ball pivot on an Indy. That is a great truck, the ball pivot conversion definitely worth doing. Still, all I ride now are Radikals.

Some website used to carry this truck that supports the skateboard style wheel, but they discountinued selling the model earlier this year. Does anyone have any information where i can find these trucks?

I would just like to hear a response from those who have been seasoned on BOTH of these trucks...not one or the other. Which one is more fluid? predictable? All that jaz for a ts front....I currently run a GUS and have a disposable income so i would basically like to know if a rad is an upgrade in performance at all....

Spray Paint for car-rims is great. A can is around 5 Dollar. A can of body paint works fine as well, but rim paint seems to be more impact proof than body paint, on the other hand you will get a smaller assortment of colours.
Degrease the truck first with degraser, gas or alkohol. I would recomend sanding with a verry fine sandpaper and than just spray it with two thin layers.

Yo Dudes...
I have a pair of Independent 149 trucks on my longboard... nothing special. I was wondering if there is a special paint I should use to paint them a different color, or if I should be painting them at all. Any advice is welcome.
Thanks. hartl3y.

Tim's Tracker baseplates question

G'day. If these are the Tracker superlight bases, then I think you're SOL. The kingpins CAN be removed, but you have to dig around with a soldering iron! That's not the best way to carry on, in my opinion... I think the pivot geometry of those trucks is the same as some newer Trackers, so you could do worse than look at getting NEW Tracker baseplates (and you can tap out the kingpins on those easily). The Tracker B-2 plate seems to be interchangeable with older Tracker hangers, so that would be a good place to start.

If i had to have one board, only one board,i think modifing a stock board would be ok. I'd have something like a dregs maggie with drop through randal dh's 3 to 5 degree wedge up front, bones yellow hardcore bushings, and a bit of reinforcement to keep it functional for a bit of dropping off things and stiff feeling during kickturns and such, rounded over 81a gumballs.Swiss bones bearings, i like ousts but retainer warrentees(do they even do that?) and replacement parts are tough to come by. Maybe the deal should be that all the parts of your only board are in endless supply, that way you won't fell it necessary to run 97mm flywheels to get maximum mileage out of your last and only set of wheels.

am thinking of giving gullwings a try again. I'm tired of the indy axle slip, and just plain want to try something new. Problem is I can't find much info. on the gullwing army truck turning radius. how do the gullwings turn compared to indys? do gullwing axles stay put? do the new gullwings grind as good as the old? anyone had any experiences with the gullwing army truck good or bad? help me out here? thanks and cheers

Hi Minos, Don't you get Force Industries Trucks cheap in Australia. They are made in Australia and really great trucks. Check out the rewiev at silverfish: http://www_silverfishlongboarding_com/article.php?story=20060112131536669
Otherwise I would recomend Randals. You can ride them as they are, ore wedge them for more or less stability. They are great trucks. Important for stability at speed is the design of the truck. Conventional trucks like the core feel stable at lower speeds but if it gets a little faster, the truck behaviour gets wobblier. I don't know if core makes a truck that is designed like a randal. Check out Chris homepage for more details about the truck design: http://www.chrischaput.com/randal/
Here in Germany the Holey Trucks cost the same as Randals. In that case I would buy the Holeys.

Hi, guys. I am about to take me into longboard especially down hill and cruizing area. I am currently riding a carver board for surfing improvement. I just had a look at few long boards on the internet and I think the most important part that make different is truck, right? I would like to do some big turn on a long board and it sould be stable during the riding. one of my mate recommends Randal 180, gullwing, or cheaper Core truck. how they differ from each other? and the best value for money? my budget is pretty tight.. Thanks for pay attention, guys.

Herbn,
That is a good idea for a thread, but could you make it any harder?! Only one board? Reminds me of the question my wife posed, "If you had to get rid of all your boards except one, which one would you keep?" Anyway, my previous post was my shot at saying how happy I've been with my Randals carving up the hills in my area and if there are trucks out there that will turn my board any sharper, I'm not sure if I could handle them! Any sharper and I'd basically be doing a kickturn!

as nifty as that small turning radius may seem to be,it's cool for a minute maybe fifteen minutes,it's cool for a board that goes into the supermarket from the trunk of your car, it's really handy through the automatic doors, but on the really fun skating, i usually reach for the wrench, then switch over to most the yellow powell bushings(from blue) and lastly i "dewedge" my trucks,my newest truck are at 40 degrees, that's midway between a seismic and a randal dh, which by the way are the amazing truck that randal makes,of all the stock trucks in the world, if i could have only one pair for one board those would be them. With a thin thin positive wedge on the front one. Hey! thats' a interesting thread, if you were stuck on a dessert island, and it had a amazing smooth switchbacky highspeed downhill road on it , what kind of set up would you want? Only one board/trucks/wheels.
