Geo, all I can say is "WOW" !!! The folk you you had sign that deck pretty much shaped the world of skateboarding in '77. Well done, even looking Back Thru that time-tunnel (which we all know gives us instantly clear 20/20 vision!) to sort out true VIP's of that moment.
I had Schwip[U.S. Junior Slalom Champ a few years back], who was (well still kinda is) an impetuous teenager, make sure that his trips to Cali included having a Roe slalom deck signed by those attending the races. One of those is likely to be on display at The Podium skate/snow board museum in Manchester VT. (This is co-owned by Ross Powers, 2 time Snowboard Olympian), the other, probably tucked away until he's got his own place. That 'kid' is on his way college next fall, makes me feel just that much older...
Boards like that come once in lifetime, IF you're lucky enough to corral the signers!! Yours is, imho, damn-near priceless!

that's hysterical. Your group of boards looks nearly exactly like mine. I am sure you probably have more too.
I separate my boards like this. I have my main tranny/roundwall rider (a single board, and a slalom board. THEN I have lots of resto-retro boards all set up from the 74-78 time frame. One of my all time favorite repros that I ride most often (when not on tranny) is an Arrowsmith Competition model with gullwing splits and some modern 66mm red 78a zigzags. That board is simply a dream as a small area cruiser/carver and old style freestyle. After that is an old aluminum double kick that is set up to turn on a dime, seriously. I play hockey on it with my son, while he wears skates.

that refurb G&S looks great. Its beena while since I have seen a good looking solid wood G&S. You definitely need to refinish the top and get the griptape back up to snuff with the basic requisite G&S 4" (or whatever width) strip of grip tape.
I made me a warptail replica 29x7.5 warptail II replica, from a garage sale pig. stripped it, cut it down, varnished, redrilled it, then replicated the stickers and tape. cant beat it, plus I ride the snot out of it without worries.

Gonna hog the site for 4 pictures :---)
Kinda proud of this one... Was simply a piece
of junk... Sanded, light pecan stain, vintage
sticker (I think vintage), total grinding of the
rust on the Bennett Hijackers to rid of the rust Look
awesome now!!...
Oh and took me 20 min to undo those kingpins! Lordy,
if only I had the proper tools a real man should have,
woulda taken 8 minutes!!
Deck was sold CHEAP!! To a fellow www.ncdsa.com member
to ride the concrete wave again. I kept the trucks :----)
So a ebay purchased breakeven on deck, I keep trucks and
got two or more hours of hobby time and sipping the
devils brew time in the California sun...
Albeit locked in my back yard away from neighbors and other humans!!

History of Skateboarding
History of SkateboardSF
SkateboardSF has a thirty year history. The store opened in 1974 as skateboard city. In 75' Skates on Haight was opened at 1818 Haight St, location of SkateboardSF today. This pic is of the original staff at Skates On Haight. The Tall guy in the middle is Lee Cole, owner of Skateboard City, Skates On Haight, Skates.Com and SkateboardSF. He is still the CEO today.
Wall Of Wheels
Every skate shop in the 70's had a wall of wheels, fashioned as this one was, out of diamond shaped 2x4's. The wall wheels worked because the wall of wheels were so tall and wide. Next to the walls of wheels were the deck stacks which worked because the decks were flat and so small.
The Roller Skate Connection
Early skateboard shops sold roller skates as well as skateboards. Early skateboards were roller skates stretched apart underneath a wooden plank. The first skateboard trucks were rollerskate
trucks on two peanut shaped baseplates. Independent Truck company started as a roller skate plate and truck manufacuturer in San Francisco.

just an observation on human nature,not condemning just observing her id isn't in the picanywhere,i don't see it. even though your comment on today's "morals" could be taken a number of different ways,your perception of her age is in your head.she doesn't look particularly young but i guess she doesn't look particularly old for sure,14-24 would be my guess appparently you picked 14, i guess without the 70's mustache he be a bit less "pervy", i'm trying to remember if if i thought it looked "possibly pervy" when i saw the pic,maybe it crossed my thoughts. i own a skateshop(17 years) and many times a pic like that could have been taken of me,so i guess i have a bit of a self defence built into the way i see that pic. I see a whole lot of rollerskates and a fiberflex teamrider and a dts wes humpston brand new on the shelf next to each other.

check out all of those rector slip-ons, on the hooks (bagged). And only one set of capped rectors (brand new at the time), hanging separately on the wall
look at the helmets on the bottom shelf. there is one of those funky helmets like Inouye wore (with the huge holes), next to a norcon. Not to mention the original protecs with full ear coverage on the top of the shelves.

that is a classic picture for sure. Judging from the lack of 10" boards, except for the lone dogtown, I would date the pic around summer of 78.
check out the Kryptonics tubes on the left side.
Also are those pittsburgh trucks on the santa cruz fiberglass on the top shelf?

OH MY.... I skateboarded 360 of 365 days per year in
the california sun, high school and college 1973-78 AND
NEVER STEPPED INTO A SKATEBOARD SHOP!! To be honest did not
even know they existed :----) I know what a nerd!! We just rode junky
stuff and could slalom with anyone....
Women, School, Varsity Sports, Future Jobs, Parties on our minds
and not in that order.

Here is another picture of my vintage Minty Hobie Weaver.
All original factory installed parts, Power Paw wheels,
size of Road Rider 2 wheels. ACS 430 Trucks and still
have some of the original factory chalk left on em!! I have some
other knock off Hobie type decks, will post next weekend...
Any more Hobie riding the concrete tales??
