You are right about Eurostile, but Microstyle is the "free" one. ;-)

Microstyle Bold Extended?

I think Eurostile is closest. Unless Micro is a version that's just avoiding copyright problems by nicking the font matrices and renaming them!

Taperkick logo
On 6/26/2009 Pierre Gravel wrote in from Canada  (69.70.nnn.nnn)

It looks like someone used "Letraset" transfer type that was popular in the 70s, it's not the original logo.
The font used for the original logo is Microstyle Bold Extended.

Can anyone tell me if the words taperkick on this logo are original? I am restoring this deck and can not find a add showing this deck with this on it.
Thanks AllPhotobucket

Brad, try this link?

http://www.eastbilt.com/accessories.htm

If it's a non-functional site, maybe ask the crew at Skatekings what they might be able to do for you.

Stuart Singer Kryptonics Skateboard
On 6/23/2009 Brad Compton wrote in from United States  (192.94.nnn.nnn)

Hello:

Does anyone know where I can get the rear skid plate and nose guard for a Vintage Kryptonics Stuart Singer Skateboard and possibly other parts.
Really the only two parts on my skateboard that needs replacing is the skid plate(rear) and the nose guard. Everything else seems to be in pretty good shape.

Thanks,
Brad

roadrider 4
On 6/23/2009 buddy rawls wrote in from United States  (128.158.nnn.nnn)

I never saw any roadrider wheels that came to skateboard shops in any sort of packaging. (also, do you guys remember they came with bearings) I helped unpack quite a few shipments and gawking at the new stuff.

The only time roadriders were in a package was when they were packeaged for marketing in department stores. Bennett trucks were the same way. And yes they were typically packaged as Hobie.

Hobie Flex

Does anyone have any more info on this board? Was it a team rider deck only? It is one of my favorite boards (which I take out and ride occasionally, albeit carefully)Thought it's about time I knew more about it. Thanks in advance for the help!!

BTW, Tom's packaged RR4's are legit and really nice looking!

road rider 4
On 6/19/2009 Tom wrote in from United States  (75.202.nnn.nnn)

Thank you Vintage Man for letting everyone know that Road Rider 4's did come packaged. Everyone I talk to thinks I'm crazy because I say they are in a package. If anyone else would like to see proof, just e-mail me and I'll show you the pics. P.S.- The risers that I'm talking about did not come in the package. I bought them at the same time that I bought the Road Riders. When I say matching I mean same color and same transparency.

Hobie board
On 6/18/2009 coralskates wrote in from Canada  (24.64.nnn.nnn)

Hey everyone!
I'm trying to find out some history on a board my husband found for our son. It's a wooden Hobie...no subname, Just Hobie in writing on the top and the bottom of the board with a black and green stripe. If anyone can direct me to a site with pics so I can match it that would be awesome. I'm afraid of letting him to continue using it if it is a collectors board.

CHEERS!

original packaging?

i don't recall, i remember the local bike/skate shop opening a case of loose wheels like a 12x12x12 cube filled with roadrider 4's. rr4's with risers from ampul maybe? big difference ,to me.

had to read that twice, he he funny, i've joked many times that i wish i couldv'e remembered my chem 2 or calc 3 dirivatives the way i remember skateboard stuff, damn i missed the pittsburghs and the energys, i think pittsburgs were actually timeline correct for bahnes, but you'd want to leave that board in the trunk of your 75 buick for traction in the winter:)

Truck plates per Herbn
On 6/15/2009 Vintage Man wrote in from United States  (66.245.nnn.nnn)

This post is simply for fun after reading Herbn's fantastic guidance
regarding the Bahne Skateboard truck possibilities.
I went to my collection of vintage skateboard trucks and found:
Pittsburgh Trucks and Energy Truck plates had a 3 hole option as well...
YES I KNOW, no way no how were Energy or Pittsburgh trucks used on a
Bahne deck!! LOL.... I just thought it kinda cool info to pass on in cyberspace.
"I never met a man who knew so much about nothing"
Famous quote on Seinfield.
cheers

3 hole trucks
On 6/15/2009 herbn wrote in from United States  (67.83.nnn.nnn)

well they have to be vintage, bennetts,(of course) bahne, california slalom, brewer, contineantal, there might be others maybe hitchcock there might be a few more even more obscure, basivly keeplooking through ebay you'll see in pics or ask the seller if it has a three hole pattern it is the right one ,there was a small four hole(x-caliber/suregrip)oh and stroker has its own 4 hole pattern. Well ,that's about it.California slaloms were probabely the most common and durable oh yeah and ACS 500's they are probabely the ones you'll most likely find, they fit everything.

my skatepal got one of those after he wore out his Logan. It was kind of a longer model, like 31x7 (maybe even a tad narrower). He put Gullwing Splits on it and 1st gen (raised letter) red 70mm Krypts.
