snakes/trakers
On 4/9/2001 hugh r wrote in from (205.216.nnn.nnn)

The green snakes (roller skate type if I remember correctly) could fetch $60 to $80 in a bidding situation... I would pay 40 for a set myself. Check the thrift stores... a guy not too long ago got 8 of them on skates for about $10!!

Trakers could easily be in the same range... HR

Turner Look alike
On 4/8/2001 Kirt wrote in from (152.163.nnn.nnn)

I've got a super nice slalom Deck that I got off of Atilla and really can't use. I will let it go at my cost. It has the look and feel of a TURNER. BEAUTIFUL deck with lots of camber. 170-205lbs at best. Pics Available. E-mail me if interested. I also have a Maherajah longboard I'll let go for under cost. Undrilled. Might even consider offers on my custom eight wheeler on Hughs site for a decent price.

$1500 Duke Kahanamoku? Wassup!?
On 4/6/2001 Lansing wrote in from (24.218.nnn.nnn)

Anybody know what the deal is with this "priceless" Duke Kahanamoku? I've seen it up on eBay several times over the past 6 months - every time the guy asks $1,500, but it's never sold. I mean, c'mon...it must be worth more like $150, right? A pristine Shogo complete may fetch close to $1500, but this thing? Anybody know what it's *really* worth?

I'm guessing that the guys is trolling for Duke K. fanatics who don't know anything about vintage skateboards... Dunno.

Real Old school favorite set up
On 4/3/2001 Herbn wrote in from (216.107.nnn.nnn)

After buying a 76 skateboarder from Ted t. i got a little bit more of an idea of what products were out at the same time. The Hobie Sundancer could indeed have had a wheel by Kryptonics/Startrak which may have made a better roller though at the time Kryptonics seemed to only have a 83a formula. Archery flex,a maple and glass ply board was just out and in a product review it appears to be kind of long 36ish,it curves up in the truck areas, and has specially molded risers to give a flat area for the trucks to mount onto. Strokers first ad just hit.So my perfect combo for 1976 and sometime after that would have to be a; Archeryflex deck,Stroker trucks,Kryptonic 70mm wheels,GMN bearings,i would have found some 10/32 flathead allen bolts to put it all together.

Bulldog Designs
On 4/2/2001 Kona wrote in from (216.104.nnn.nnn)

I can't emphasize this enough...For old school pig-type designs, I have found the Bulldog models ideal replications. No, I am not affiliated with them in any way. I went to the shop they have in Venice and knew I was in the presence of a legit collector and skate historian. The models I purchased were the 10" x 32" and the 10" x 36". Both have good but mild concave and great graphics. I would love however to get my hands on some lime green Sims snakes or DogTown Rock & Rollers circa 1978-79 wheels (Any help?). As for trucks, some new indy's will suffice (166's or 215's).

Re: Copers
On 3/31/2001 Brian wrote in from (64.12.nnn.nnn)

We made our own copers out of PVC too. Back then I was putting them on Trackers and finally got the size and pattern just right so they snapped right on.....worked great.

Ted t's vintage 76
On 3/29/2001 Herbn wrote in from (216.107.nnn.nnn)

excellent,i so remember this mag, though it's so fuzzy, some of my loose pages could be from this issue, but ads run identical for a few issues sometimes so who knows. I know i've seen it before, the glass wave by Hitchcock,Pool rider Q+A ect, though i don't remember that full page stroker ad,equipment check on Archery flex,And theres an ad for Kryptonics that talk's of a "new" 83a formula urithane in a 50mmx50mm model called "The Hummer" they should recycle that name,i wonder if it ment back then what it means today and i don't mean the 4wd military vehicle:0 :)

Copers
On 3/22/2001 Lansing wrote in from (24.218.nnn.nnn)

What we used to do for copers (for Trackers, Indys, even Gullwings), was to simply buy PVC pipe, take a jigsaw to it, and use a heatgun (or even a cigarette lighter!) to make it soft enough to snap over the hanger.
Viola! Instant copers, that cost a fraction of the brand-name copers. Sure, they rattled a bit if you didn't shape them right and they broke a tad sooner than the "real thing," but hey -- they cost practically nothing, and took all of 5 minutes to make!

Copers
On 3/21/2001 Herbn wrote in from (216.107.nnn.nnn)

Ex and six track copers were the same, except the sixs had adapter sleeves, out of the same plastic, that never really got ground down, well at least not on round coping.

Tracker Extrack Coper Dilema
On 3/21/2001 Hal wrote in from (152.163.nnn.nnn)

I was hoping someone could give me the rundown on early 80's Tracker trucks. I have a beefy pair of Tracker Ex-Tracks that I am trying to find copers for. Does anybody know where the Ex-Tracks fit into the Tracker series. I know there bigger than Full Tracks and smaller than Six Tracks. So was there a specific size coper, or will the Six Tracker coper work on the Ex-Track? Does anyone know about the coper adapters for longer trucks; the white plastic hub looking extension. Any info on whats needed to set up Ex-Tracks with copers would be most appreciated.

Cheers,
Hal

Terence,

The Lazer Slalom's are the wide ones - 6 1/2" axle width. The Lazer Freestyle has a 5 1/2" axle width. Hope this clears things up for you and if you need some of these trucks mail me as I have several new old stock pairs for sale/trade.

City street grinders were early-mid 80's wheels, they made all sorts of sizes, 82a and 90a hardnesses. They had all sorts of ads in thrasher too. Perfect for that powell pig board...

City Street Wheels

I have a set of wheels that I don't remember ever seeing in Skateboarder and was hoping someone could shed some light on them for me. They are a Teal blue and relatively soft. They actually look and feel alot like a 70MM Kryptonic. The lettering spells out CITY STREET. Any Clues??

76 speed board
On 3/17/2001 Herbn wrote in from (216.107.nnn.nnn)

I posted a bit early,it Hugh a while to get the pic up,i guess not everybody, can check this site when there's a break in business, check Hugh's page,my first post is a little buried so this brings it up. I'm real interested ,if any real old timers that were around in that day,and speed boarding remember this board or any other strange gear, stand up stuff.I guess skatecars are cool, fast but i not skating, and certainly nothing you can do on an open street,by yourself.
