Maybe judge it like a poetry slam: 6-10 people picked out of the audience at random and rate from 1-10 on style, content and audience reaction. It won't be perfect, but that's some of the souls ain't it? Try www.psi.com (and buy my CD while yer there! LOL).

Brain,
It would be truly soulful to let the contestants decide who wins.
I know if I were skating an "expression session" with some others,
I would have an opinion on who's riding had the best flow.
It's a subjective thing, I know, but maybe worth a try.
It'd keep everyone watching everyone else, too.

soul is... waiting for Saturday morning. Why you ask. Because during the week a constuction crew is building what we know as Area 51 (not on any map): A houseing developement in making closed off to traffic. No cars, half built houses, long runs, smooth turns and not a pair of eyes to see. It's like carving through a ghost town. quiet as a dream.

Howdy, my Soulcarving buds on the west coast. I am a 40 year old soulcarver from North Carolina and yesterday morning myself and 4 carving board riding friends of mine (snowboarders wanting snow bad) made a run down Highway 421 out of Boone, NC at daybreak. There is a 4 mile section that is 4 lanes wide with no median that allows huge carving turns on this incredible turning and winding slope of a road! I was riding my 38" longboard with Sims Pure Juice Wheels (yes, they are from 1982! I found them a few months ago in a box of skateboard stuff in a bike shop. They were still in the original package!) The temperature was about 50 degrees, the leaves on the trees were golden yellow, red, orange, and the mountain air was clean and fresh! The run took almost 40 minutes! It was awesome! Big sweeping soulfull turns, frontside and backside, standing and squating, carving and leaning! The snowboarder/carving board riders thought I was insane! I can't wait to go back next Sunday morning and ride that mountain again!

It's been raining a lot last week, so I was dreaming with a good carving session in my favorite hill. Today the rain stopped, but it's saturday, the day I have to spend with my wife and 3 year old boy. We went out to have dinner. It was about 11:00 pm, we were going home, and my wife stopped at the top of the hill I've been dreaming this week. I skated the hill making long sweet carves and then she took me to the top again, again and again, for about 15 times, with our kid sleeping at the back seat of our car. I really love them!
I think this is soul!

Strangely enough, I go over to San Jose for fairly regular night sessions. Downhilling, parking garage, slalom... Go figure! Although I'm off for a solo Capitola night ride right about NOW! Yehaw!
