I looking for someone to produce slalom desks for kids in the range of 70 - 100 Lbs. This range could be said to be the "next generation" market.

Mark,
I spent 8 years on and off active duty in th U.S. Army Special Forces. That insignia is the old beret flash for my Reserve Group, the 12th SFG(A). It was disbanded several years ago and so the flash is no longer in use. I put it on the board for old times sake.

Jack, if your Slalom Starter Kit is geared toward kids, don’t forget to supply a deck with the proper flex. Practically none of the currently available slalom decks are made for the 120-140 lbs crowd.

Think about it. That's when the kids that are buying these kits get together and find out what slalom is really all about!

I just got in the Comet Gary Cross and Don O'shei pro models in medium and stiff flex. Hoping to put a Cross together tonight and take it for a spin. Don O'shei your graphic looks like a squadron insignia, which one?

there are no shops in my area (the val) that carry it. Val Surf had some once but they were scattered among a bunch of fliers and other free handout things. You wouldn't normally have found the mag. Here's a list of some shops in the valley area that could use some mags and who might actually put them out.
Fastlane Boardshop - Burbank Ca. Rat City Skates - Burbank Ca. Atomic Garage - Pasadena, Universal City Ca. Kennedy Surfboards - Woodland Hills Ca. Brickyard Skatepark - Redlands Ca. Skatestreet Skatepark - Ventura Ca. Skatelab Skatepark - Simi Valley Ca.

Shops International Longboarder Magazine NEEDS FEEDBACK!!
This survey is for retailers who carry International Longboarder Magazine in their shops. If you do a cut and paste and email me directly with your responses, that would be great. In appreciation for you taking the time to complete the survey, we will send you a magazine goodie (hint-you can wear it!)
For those of you who are readers of the mag, feel free to get in touch with your local shop and let them know about the survey. You can always print it out and have them fax it to me at 905-761-5295.
Thanks for everyone's support. The next issue comes out in the fall and features a considerable amount slalom. We think you'll dig it.

Longboardkook,
I hear what you are saying, there is still no excuse for the vast majority of longboarders to not have a choice for quality parts. We are lucky, we know better to not buy a S9 complete, most are not.

If anyone thinks one company has it all, they are mistaken. Sector 9 is a quality company. Sure the Pivots aren't the best in the world. I just put different trucks on my S9's. For example, I ordered up the 38" Deep End and I put Indy 166's (not the 156's) on it with my choice of wheels. I don't bother buying the completes and instead put my own boards together. At the same time I don't just swear allegiance to one company. Gravity is cool in it's own way, so is G&S, Lib Tech, Comet, etc.. Hell this is why many of us have a quiver of boards made by various companies. We got to support each other & not take the legs out from underneath the other guy.

S9 excuses

Marcus/Sector9
This is not the first time that S9 has heard about dissatisfaction regard components, especially the substandard Pivot trucks. A person does not have to be extreme or super particular about components to appreciate a pair of decent trucks. But S9 continues to do nothing but keep the masses ignorant and supplied with substandard components.
Stop the excuses! Give buyers the choice of a quality complete.

Thanks for the feedback both positive and negative. we need to here it all. any comments, criticism, or questions feel free to call me or anyone here. here are a couple of recent issues in the review forum i would like to address.... tails on cosmics, they serve very little purpose, besides the occasional wheely to get up a curb, they are primaraly there to calm the masses. "a skate board with out a tail?" "what?" aesthetic beauty, how grossly vain right? we do our best to start with the function of the deck and then try to make it look appealing. next, most of you hardcore dogs are super particular about your components, you like a certain truck and certian wheel w/ top grade bearings. our complete set ups are not for you. decks, posibly wheels, with the combination of your favorite parts is highly recomended. If you are an extreme rider, i recommend a helmet. protect yer head. for the the majority of our riders(school kids, parents, boardwalk cruisers, the automobileless, surf groms & divas, hippies, old school cats, shralper, and shredders)the components are perfect. custom built boards are also an option. last thing i would like to address is the shapes/graphic changes. each year we come out witha few new shapes. alot of the models will stay the same, just get a graphic change. why do we use the same shape? because lots of people like it. we started in 1993 with 2 models, now we have 17 different shapes. the original two(og pin & flexy cloud nine)are still around. in two weeks @ a.s.r. we will release our 2002 line up. it will have lots of new shapes and all new graphics. if you see someting you like or dislike give us a shout. have fun riding! later
