Jean Marc getting ready for the Stubbies Challenge back in 1987. Original soundtrack and commentary by Barry Zaritzky. Note: Barry was Rodney's mentor back in the day. He was hired by TRACKER to take care of the team guys and support us.

Hi Keith! Yup, nice to hear from the inventor of the Butterflip! Freestyle is still alive and kicking, even more than at the beginning of the 90's. Check out the F-Forum http://www.wfsafreestyle.org/f/forum/

I remember in the early 80's when street skaters hated freestyle. And now every street skaters bag of tricks are freestyle based. I wish all the newschool companies would put out Freestyle decks. Man I miss the flourescent colors of the 80's now all wheels seem to be white same as skids anyways peace

Matthew -
I'm glad you appreciate OLD SCHOOL Freestyle.
Sometimes you gotta get your friends and run your own contests, if you want to make things happen !
I wanted EVERYONE to try skateboarding so bad,...back then.... that I ran a Skateboard Contest in Garden Grove, California - in 1976 @ Euclid Park.
[-I know I have an old photo somewhere of that Sk8 Contest.... I'll try to dig it up - and post it.]
My best to ya Matthew ! .......

i was wondering if you consider the weird dogtown style freestyle. I see freestyle as an expresion of your life and i find sliiping around the floor and jumping over walls great. oh i also have an idea why doesnt this site start sponsoring people

Saying that Rodney is sketchy is like saying that god lacks style or imagination...
If you want to see some freestyle moves in England, just go to Rough Trade and ask the boss to show you what he did before he became a business-man.
