There will be a phat flatland jam Sunday June 22nd at the Mitchell Park Bowl in Palo Alto. The "bowl" is actually a large round circle with a bench high wall around it. The park is on Middle Field Rd. Some of us will be practicing our runs for the Casper Classic. Bring your music, we may have a sound system by then. We will have a photo/video session with a mobile transmitter to a TvVcr monitor so we can do instant replays of our skating as a practice tool. We may also bring snacks.

I would like to see some old school No Cal freestylers, X Pepsi Team members etc. come out for this jam.

Rodney rocks because he is a (A) student. I know plenty of skaters that Disipline in one art form and they skink. Rod has a gifted mind like the kid who sees dead people in the movies(Six Sence) thats his zone,he is just way out there. Know one can phanthom what he's doing because hes living between here and the after life. He has some kind of telekaneeses.I think he could still do those tricks if he did'nt have arms or legs. accually, in the last few years, some freestylers have started refering to 'freestyle' as 'flatland freestyle' or just plain 'flatland' to avoid this type of confusion. Yeah, it's true that skating is just skating in its basic form but there has always been disaplines and it doesn't really matter how much of a skateboarding purist some people think they are, slalom is slalom, longboarding is longboarding, freestyle is freestyle, etc. if some people are trying to find some purist form of skating, you should go down to your local skateshop a pick up just a plain ol' modern shaped board, now seriously, hear me out. These shapes are the most functional shapes seen since the old G&S teamrider. With the modern shapes, you could step out your door a crack a solid ollie off of a curb cut, roll up a driveway and bust a fingerflip, carve up a bank and style out a nice drop-knee turn, and then right before it gets dark, go hit up the local skatepark or a pool. What other shape can you do all of these at a high level, I can't think of one. All of these guys on this site know that there practicing specialist forms of skating and they know it, they enjoy it. How do you think Rodney Mullen became so amazing, by devoting all of his time to one type of skating. Thats one of the reasons skateboarding is so neat, there is a least one form of skating that somebody can relate to, some people relate to more, it's all costom to the person's interests. Well, I'm stepping off the soap box, thanks for listening...

Yes,Freestyle the art of free expression! Whatever you do on a board is actually FREESTYLE because your expressing your emotion in your skate,Just like a ice skater or balae,or belly dancer. So if you happen to do a slide while doing 6 or 7 tricks, would you not still be a freestyler? think about that one and let your own mind answer your question. Dagoo

Please do NOT name call on this forum - alot of people read
these posts - and I can't let this go by when someone is questioning my good friends' INTEGRITY- - -the person in question - - - Dave "Skaterbuilt" Hegstrom.

INTEGRITY - now there's a word you don't hear very much anymore. -This cat has it!
We're talkin about a young family man that has his own skateboard company, and has one of the raddest skateboard model boards - the 10" & 12" pig , and SUPERTACO - - -out there in the skateboard market right now !

Let me set the record STRAIGHT by saying AS AN EYE WITNESS -
I have SEEN Dave - - - -Bomb Downhill Runs, Slalom in Giant,Tight, and Hybrid Events, -by the way, he races in the pro category- Dave also does one heck of a street freestyle routine, he does flatland freestyle too , AND....
last week I watched him and Kelly Bellmar rip up the Westminister Skate Park !
You say - so what? ....let me tell you - when Dave was in the bowl doing axle -grinds - you could hear it from WAY FAR AWAY -
so much so,,,,, that when he was riding - a bunch of kids there at the park- came over to watch what he and Kelly were doin !!!

2 words - "nuf said!"

..........-Rene' "Cannonball" Carrasco.
