Dagoo, I doubt there is really a need to say this, but i am sure Bernhard can do more noteworthy stunts than you can count (that means more than 3) and for sure more noteworthy than you can do.

Bernhard is from Germany btw. and he is one of the driving forces there when it comes to contest & product promotion.

Do you need to be smart to be mainstream??

I received the CD from Robert and I'm going through it now for select pics to email to those of you that were at the jam last weekend at Mitchell Park. Robert got pictures of everyone, event the girls. As I was going through the photos, I came across some great "out take" shots of people with their toung hanging out etc. I think I will put together an out take CD from the three jams we have had so far and from the next one...funny stuff.

Heads up for long boarders! WFSA has a contest coming up at a big name trade show later in the year. One of the events will be an open flatland freestyle longboard contest.

I was so impressed with some of you guys and your Bert slides that I'm going to include a "Dod Town Bert Slide Contest" as one of the side events WFSA will be doing at the L.A. Inner City Games.

Wow! Great turn out at the Mitchel Park Bowl Jam! Thanx to Manuel for the buffet.

These No Cal flatand jams that Robert, Manuel and I have been doing are always fun and we never know what to expect. I loved the setting at Mitchell Park, The grass, the trees, and the flat concrete "bowl" that was about twice the size I had visualized, very cool!

What we always hope to find at these jams are a few good skaters that really want to see the flatland freestyle scene in northern California take root again and take on a life of its own. What we would like to see happen is for a few locations to become regular gathering places for freestylers, this way the freestyle community will grow. Mitchell Park Bowl has an interesting history and was a regular freestyle practice spot for area Pros and top Am's back in the day. That may happen again, the way Edison Park has become the revival spot of choice for the So Cal jams.

The whole day went really well. Gary and Julius really added a lot to the flow of activity. Obviously they have a lot of experience with both spontanious and organized events. These WFSA jams are basically underground and, at this point, experimental, so watching Gary and Julius mold the random action into something that had the feel of a low key local contest, was inspiring.
They were also able to draw in the local street skaters that just happened by that were doing flatland along with us, with an ollie contest over the high jump bar, and made them a part of the group.

I had printed up awards to give out, just in case things went the way they did, so that everyone would leave with some recognition of their efforts that day. This is what we call the "ghost jam" approach to having a contest that no one around us, and not even the skaters know there is an event happening.

We brought the high jump bar to promote the Casper Classic contest a little, and also let skaters that had never seen or tried high jump before the opportunity to play around with it. As it turned out, the high jump became a major activity and brought out the competitive nature, and untapped talent, in a few of the skaters. The high jump bar itself was a little wack, using a foam nerf bar and velcro and we will probbly return with a more standard peg and PVC set up.

I will post the "results" of all the activity tomorrow along with tid-bits if the action from novice girlfriends braving their first ride on a skateboard to wild and crazy longboard power sliding, to blazing freestyle!

Big thanks to Robert, the WFSA photographer, that took several hundred pictures. He does a great job and manages to get shots of everyone. He will post a few of these photos on his page in the next week sometime. I will seperate the photos into individual groups and email them out as jpgs to the skaters that gave me their addy. Roberts photo URL is: http://users.hanson.net/rstaton/sk8, there is a photo essay there now from the Napa Jam last month. A CD of all the Mitchell Park photos will be available to anyone that wants one. CD's of the Castro Valley and Napa Jams are available also. I brought a copy of each for Manuel but forgot to give them to him. Hey! I'm old and forgetful so you might have to ask me about these things to remind me.

If you want one of these CD's you can contact Robert at www.rstaton@cruzio.com. This is not a product so he does not charge at this point. We will bring a few copies to the next jam. Robert does have available a CD called "This Way Out' that is the complete 2000 San Francisco World Freestyle Skateboard Campionship, and he does sell that.

Thanx one and all! See you at the next WFSA No Cal jam.

Very cool little gathering.
The high jump was fun, even though I broke 1 pole, haha .
( pole was one of those foam swimming pool noodles ) .
The kids who showed had a great time with the high jump /
ollie over the bar contest.
Thanks to Manuel for the "picnic style lunch "
A casual and very fun afternoon.
Now it's time for me to practice that damn high jump.
Ride on.

The Mitchell Park Bowl Jam is around noon. Great to hear more locals are going. Others include Manuel Rogriguez from Napa, Hung from San Jose, (probably) Denis Sopovic and friend David from Sweden, Nils Hanson from Redondo Beach, Robert Staton from Santa Cruz, and myself from Santa Barbara. A few others are sitting on the fence. Manuel is bringing sandwich fixins and drinks. Robert and Nils are bringing drinks also and chips .

Robert will be shooting lots of pictures and will post some on his page.

We will be doing flatland, high jump and 360's, could turn into an underground mini contest as a practice session for the Casper Classic.
Bring all your toys! longboards, slalom boards, 2x4's etc.
Flatland party time in honor of the traveling Swedes!

I want to know who's showing up to this Flatland/Freestyle event at Mitchell Park? John K., Julius, me and ????

I guess I'll have to dust off my freestyle boards for my annual session.

Lets havea 360 contest too...I haven't tried since last year to spin but it could be fun.

Put me down for about 3 360's and maybe a casper variation
of some kind to crash trick.
Man I really suck at flatland, but will show to ride
anyways. See you there Gary H.
