RE: Cones
On 1/24/2002 lee wrote in from (213.123.nnn.nnn)

Hi Guys,

I can get cones from Kryptonic for £2.99 per cone or cheap cones for £1.50. Let me know if anyone needs them.

I personally just bought a pack of plastic pint cups for a couple of quid and use that. It works, it doesnt matter what it looks like but this is a good cheap altenative.

i hope that helps

lee

On 1/24/2002 gavin wrote in from (194.82.nnn.nnn)

cones could well be the curse of the slalom resurgence, lets face it you've got to have them (otherwise its back to coke cans) but if the price is too high for the average punter (not too mention the kids who are the sport's future) things won't move at all.

so far we've got cones at 4 quid a pop, turner are promising less than that but the question is what will the market pay?

for my money i'm in the process of laying out (for me) a fair wad of cash for a sl board, if i've got to then lay out another 50 quid for cones i'm going to struggle (esp if the wife finds out). i also live in the far sw of cornwall so trips to events such as sheffield , cp and brands are really expensive. in order to get a small sl scene going down here cones then are essential, and all i can say is whoever comes accross with the best deal gets my cash.

Hi Mog
The only help we need at this stage is for you to tell all and sundry about these events!
The more who know, the more are likely to attend, so spread the word.
Email me, too, so I can contact you if there's any specific stuff we need a hand with later on.

Paul K: We here Stateside would be interested in any cones you can conjure up!!!

Mog: My bro cfavero (who's still recouperating from Tahoe) was sessioning your park all last year, he's the yank who's rediscovered the banks over the Pond. Why not get a bank slalom course set up at Brixton... I'd be there for that. Not to mention Brads Hatch, SSSheffield, and all the other locations you can muster!

I have discovered a small injection moulding company that manufature....cones!!!, they are not quite the "tracker" standard, but close enough to practice with.

As soon as you guys lock down your dates for those events, put up a page on the "contest" forum. I see history in the making and we might as well record. It`ll also give us without an accent the possibly set our schedules and make it over there

Any chance the Urban Boards mob can make it to Sheff? Clingfilm said you would! Date will be finalised in the next week or so. Late Feb, probably, if not mid March (Im off skiing early March, making it an awkward time...)

Hi all,

ive been busy so i havnt been around but i have some wicked news.

Urbanboards have sorted out that our home race ground to be used on many occasions is "BRANDS HATCH"

We will be running hopefully at least 3-4 races there this year. I have also been asked to do a demo race infront of 10'000 people in the lunch break of the superbikes races.

The area we can use is about 300m long smooth as you like with a nice downhill run.

I will keep you all updated i think the first race will be at the end of april maybe the 28th.

i will let you all know.

lush slalom board
On 1/23/2002 chris @ lush wrote in from (213.120.nnn.nnn)

still in development stages ... we're currently looking at a few layers of laminated birch, similar in length to the turner, perhaps a little longer, flexier? about 1 inch of camber, maybe more. The one that came out of the press a few days ago is a little too stiff, I think.
Let me know what you want out of a slalom deck guys and I'll see what we can cook up!
