I would just like to reiterate all that Michael has said. I had a great time and thanks to everybody involved ....
- SSofS for organising the event with the Lush boyz. - Michael Stride for his everlasting enthusiasm for all things slalom, plus his MC bulls#@!. - Professor Clingfilm for ripping it up and keeping me awake on the long drive back. - Jim Parry-Jones for being a slalom stylist and a lush. Good to see you again. - Chris Hart for being fast. - The Urban boyz for their maniacal devotion to all thing Airflow with skyhooks. - All those weird people whose drove many hours just to check out the event.

Ok...these are edited highlights and the reason there have been very few 'post' event 'posts' so far is this: The instigators/organisers were still skating at 4.30 AM!!!!! They are probably in bed now... Highlites were 1) A beginners slalom for newbies, judged purely on style. Fanstastic response, no pressure and a lot of fun for absolute begginners. 2) An intermediate slalom race, BIG ramp start, (7ft) ski style gate affair. Approx 30 entrants...results and names will be posted. But the Roe winner, Chris was stunned to have won a fantastic Deck. The Turner winner, Jim, can now replace his 70's Turner...happy men indeed. 3) 'Pro' slalom, won by Si Levene...in a leather jacket. Second place Clingfilm... 4) Paul Kelleher stacking off the start ramp into ALL the prizes, picking up 'stack of the day' and a set of wheels! Top Man!
What made the event more fun was that the BIG prizes were given to the top riders in the Intermediate class, ensuring that the boards donated by Turner and Roe and gear by Vans in particlar were awarded to people that NEED and WANT good equipment to ride. I will post a couple of picks tommorrow.
The event finished at 10.30, then a whole bunch went to a 'Real Ale' pub for what is called over here a 'lock in' ie an after hours session. This will explain that as Clingfilm, Smokestack, Jim, And I made our excuses and left we wern't that surprised to find ourselves out side Sheffields finest Kebab house confronted by maybe 15 skaters with helmets on and all manner of downhill/longboards in their possession. These guys don't normally wear helmets but all was revealed when they switched the lights on them to full blast. Bear in mind it was cold, wet and dark, these guys rode till 4.30 AM. I wil let the guilty post here later. But reports of 15 skaters in one van getting rides to the tops of hills all over Sheffield are true! Nuts! Hardcore!
I think we should wait for Richard Hardcastle (SSofS) to report full details, but it was his baby, and I feel he has helped slalom tremendously, Radio Interviews, Press Photography, 3 magazines attending, flyers, the whole 9 yards. all on a Zero Budget. Amazing. Round of applause. Also Chris at Lushlongboards.com , for organizing, advertising, giving directions and providing floor space. Watchout other on-line reatilers, he's selling British made boards back to the US!!!! True!
I'm tired, Michael has left the building, goodnight!
