Lime green?
On 4/17/2002 Clingfilm wrote in from (195.195.nnn.nnn)

Are there seven colours to the rainbow. Modern thought is that Newton was wrong, in fact not modern, most of his collegues thought so too. James Maxwell (1861) and Thomas Young (1807 refined the rules from Jakob LeBlon's 1722 research. There are only three, Red, Green and Blue. To measure these you have to have precise viewing conditions, I prefer a D62 although the Americans can work with the old D50 grade. The viewing angle should definately be two degrees, as the ten degree model would be for distance vision for a subjecty like wheel colour.
To merasure it you need a photospectrometer (only £4000) which will read in any colour space based on XYZ colour from 1931 CIE systems. Persoanlly I prefer CIEL*a*b* colour to measure as it give a visual perspective on colour space as opposed to XYZ and xyz systems.
If you are interested (i'm not) then I can send the mathmatical equations used to measure and transpose colour from one space to another.

God I can be boring.

who da lemon
On 4/16/2002 longy wrote in from (194.117.nnn.nnn)

Fortunately, modern techniques have been instrumental in deciphering the taxonomic situation in Citrus. In the mid 1970s, Barrett and Rhodes performed a comprehensive phylogenetic study that evaluated 146 morphological and biochemical tree, leaf, flower and fruit characteristics. This study, and a second one suggested that only three Citrus types, citron (C. medica), mandarin (C. reticulata) and pummelo (C. grandis; now C. maxima) constituted valid species. How, then, did the other Citrus types arise and maintain their integrity? How closely related are the various Citrus types? The development of various biochemical and molecular markers has provided some answers. In particular, DNA markers, with their phenotypic neutrality, abundance and imperviousness to environmental conditions, have been most useful so a lemon is a lime, a lime a lemon. An orange when its green is an epidelious chlorophenetic stage of ripe or sacrophiligious post chlorophenetic epideliumised ethyl rich....orange!

it's definitely a close call. "lime green" (some limes are yellow, or are they lemons?) whilst on the subject, is an orange an orange if it's green?

Colour Blindness
On 4/16/2002 Michael wrote in from (195.92.nnn.nnn)

Lee, I reckon my fibrestardas were green. Or perhaps yellow mixed with blue. Nope, definately green. In fact completely green as I scraped the graphics off. Conspiracy have some. They also have the Abecs.
How about La Costas with Green stripes (74a)?
I'll see if the guy I gave the fibres to wants to trade. Whats price do you put on your sons love? About a tenner?
Let me know when he wants a green Turner.

Hi paul,

The G&S wheels are bright yellow. If you want green wheels your best off with Abec 11 Stingers. they are 64mm and i think surrey skates sell them. Let me know if you cant get any i might be able to help.

it will probably be dry (!) so we can use the safeway car park. otherwise morrisons? we will be checking out every multi-storey in sheffield over the next few weeks, so there's bound to be a few more spots indoors should mat get his sun dance wrong.

looks like 11/12 may is going to be best bet.

Bloody Visa restrictions!
I have to fly out of Park City Utah, back to London then out to LA for the Catalina Classic. Double jetlag! But it will be worth it.

I'll be back in London fron the 23rd April and am looking forward to some slalom sessions with you all. Cheers!

Anybody checked out the docklands for skate spots? Theres a lot of new concrete there!

Boardfest 2
On 4/14/2002 Lush Longboards wrote in from (195.92.nnn.nnn)

May 18th/19th ??

Boardfest 2 (please let's change the name now before it sticks) would be pure soulful longboard carving with the odd balls-out speed run dropped in. two days and a night, non-stop boarding. we've plenty of drivers and vans and sweet sweet hills. let the longboarders gather.

Its Crystal Palace
On 4/13/2002 Clingfilm wrote in from (194.154.nnn.nnn)

Seems CP seems the best bet. Lee you can get there via the dartford tunnel and through Lewisham etc. The Blackwall tunnel should be as normal.

I'll bring a broom, a few more might be better. Lets say 1.0pm.

crystal palace meet
On 4/13/2002 martin salter wrote in from (152.163.nnn.nnn)

There seems to be some confusion about the meet tommorrow - I was speaing to Mog at Brixton cycles about skating at Crystal Palace not Alexandra palace - I am about to start shooting my long skate video and was hoping for some willing subjects. Let me know what's happening as three of us are going to be in the park from 1.30 onwards.

See you there. This seems to be a North/ South confusion based around the word 'Palace'.

Catching up.....
On 4/12/2002 Martin wrote in from (65.103.nnn.nnn)

I get back from Utah next week, but only for 3 days before I go to France for 3 weeks of running Snowboard Instructor courses. When I get back mid-May, I have to meet up with you guys and do the Palace/Hyde Park thing, Paul Price will be back too!
Any news as to whether Aviemore will have slalom?

Just a heads-up, all you bikers who love to snowboard, the mountain stage of the Tour De France comes finishes IN THE MAIN STREET of Les Deux Alpes this summer. This is the location of the snowboard camps that I run.Fancy snowboarding in the mornings, longboarding/slalom/roadbiking/MTB in 70 degree temps in the afternoon? For pics from last year cut and paste:

http://communities.msn.co.uk/MartinDraytonspics

Then look at www.csbmountainholidays.com and ask for a brochure....Ask Michael Stride how cool a place it is...

Martin.
